Doesn't show you what attachments are called/can do/ reading the instructions is all about safety and for those who know exactly what they need.

A helpful little tool that really does the job
Ryobi has done it again with this multi speed little VM01 tool. From sanding to buffing, from cutting to drilling, add more accessories and it is the perfect tool for RC car repair and upgrade. Had a little trouble changing the pieces, but it was simple after I figured out how to change them. Charge lasts a long time and there is plenty of torque for intricate work. I am so excited to fing more uses for it.

Do you need this USB Lithium tool or Ryobi's 12V?
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have both the USB Lithium Rotary tool and the 12V Cordless Rotary Tool. Each tool serves a slightly different customer niche. The 12V unit is more of a heavy duty tool that a serious handyman would want. It has the power to easily sharpen mower blades, heavy duty rust removal using wire brushes and cut bolts. The USB Lithium is more of a hobbyist / jewelry maker tool and not really suited for heavy duty metal / bolt cutting. Sales literature for the 12V unit shows a chart comparing Ryobi’s Rotary tools. The chart omits that the USB Lithium can be used for metal cutting. It is ideal for intricate detail work, especially engraving. You can engrave with the 12V unit but the maneuverability and comfortable size of the USB Lithium makes it the hands down winner in this area. If you don't need the heavier cut-off ability, I recommend the USB Lithium Unit. If you need a more powerful unit, I recommend the 12V unit.
The 12V unit comes in a nice case along with 3 accessories. Both come with a small assortment of bits, and the 12V unit includes a few cut-off disks..
Battery life in both tools is quite good. The USB Lithium has the convenience of a removable battery, while the 12V battery is not removable. The 12V unit has a 3 year warranty, the USB Lithium 2 years.
I am not a fan of the Quick Change collet, and I use the supplied conventional collet nut that tightens / loosens with a wrench. For that reason I took away 1 star.

Powerful !

Rotary tool with battery power is a real plus.
This tool comes in a well-designed carrying case as it is relatively small and components don’t move around. When placing the tool in the case keep in mind it only fits in one way.
It’s nice to have battery power so I can take the tool out in the field if I need to sharpen a tool on the work site e.g. chainsaws.
Battery power also means that I don’t have to look for an outlet for power or deal with a cord getting in my way.
The tool has a good range of speed and seems to have a good deal of power. It is not soft-start so be sure to dial down the speed before turning it on. Lots of torque.
I used the lawnmower blade adapter to sharpen my hatchet and I used a small grinding tool to sharpen both my battery powered pole-saw and 16 in. chain saw. I used a little larger grinding tool to sharpen the 20 in. chain on the gas-powered chain saw. I found it to be a lot easier, quicker and had better results sharpening them with this tool than when I do it with a file.
The tool seems to run quite a while with a full charge and it doesn’t seem to take that long to recharge the battery.
I found the tool less chuck to be a little tricky and thought I had broke it once, but I played with it a little and it works fine now.

great tool!
Ryobi has made a great tool for everyone to enjoy, it is cordless, can easily be charged , using the cord included , it is lightweight, but very sturdy, it also comes with a carrying case, a small plastic box to hold an abundance of 35 accessories, everything can be changed in a matter of minutes without the use of a tool. I used the sandpaper attachment to sand areas between spindles on chairs I will be painting, An ergonomic design allow longer use time without fatigue to your hand.

Great Design and Well Built...
This Ryobi cordless rotary tool is impressive in a lot of different ways. I’ll start with the fact that it is 12 volt but can be charged with an ordinary USB charger. This means I can charge it in a vehicle and use it in locations off the beaten path, or when traveling between jobs, without being concerned about a low battery. At 35,000 RPM, it is the fastest in the group of these tools, and seems to do very well under load with a powerful motor.
The tool comes with a great case, which seems to be more and more rare these days. It is large enough to hold the tool as well as numerous needed accessories and guides, keep them organized and protected. I really don’t understand why so many tools lack cases these days, since almost every power tool needs blades, bits, chargers, wrenches, or other parts, without which the tool is worthless. These all need to be protected and kept together. This kit contains several grinding wheels, cutting wheels, sanding drums, a drill bit, buffing wheel as well as other attachments, plus a 45 degree guide, a lawn mower sharpening guide, and a cutting guide. Of course it uses the same size accessories as all of the other brands. The collet (or chuck) can be hand-tightened, eliminating the need for using a wrench each time you need to change an attachment.
I got my first rotary tool 30 years ago, and while it sometimes sits unused for months at a time, there are projects that I do where it is utterly indispensable. With the added benefit of being cordless, this will make many of these tasks faster and easier and give it the ability to reach more locations. I recently did a camper conversion, and my rotary tool was used more than any other for all of the intricate tasks which needed precision. I believe that this new Ryobi cordless rotary tool will also become indispensable, and it comes with a great warranty.

I use rotary tools for many purposes, indoors and out. A draw back was dragging a power cord around, especially when working outdoor or sharpening mower blades. This RYOBI rotary tool offers 12V of cordless power. Built in battery charges with a standard USB-C cord and your power block. A battery charge/power level indicator is helpful, and run time is good. Tool is easy to hold, and top mounted on/off switch and variable speed dial offers full control. Speed adjusts from 5000-35000 RPMs to set speed for a variety of uses from polishing, drilling, grinding, or sanding. A great feature is a quick-change collet – which allows you to change tips without using a wrench, a convenient time saving feature. This kit includes a hard-plastic molded storage case, the rotary tool, charging cord, a 35 accessory pack and three attachments. The accessory pack includes sanding bands, cut-off disks, a steel brush, grinding stones, drill, polishing wheels, and a wrench. Three attachments are included, a 45 degree platform guide, a cutting guide mini router, and a mower blade sharpening guide. This is a very versatile tool and the freedom offered by being cordless is a nice upgrade. The tool is backed by a 3 -year warranty. Ryobi makes excellent tools with good value and durability.
