Joe, 18-Volt ONE+ Cordless Brushless 7-1/4 in. Circular Saw. The main difference between this model and the the new brushless HP model is that the HP model one is designed with the HP system. This means you will get more performance out of your battery. Does Ryobi make this saw for left handed people? If so, how do I order it and is there a model number you can share

Asked by Francesco January 10, 2021

I would expect it can be operated by both left and right handed people. The lock-off button can be depressed from either side of the handle. Now, if you are asking if there is a version with a right mounted blade, I am not aware of one.

Has Ryobi addressed the Reports/Reviews of the Saw Guide on the P508 not Parallel to the Blade?

Asked by Steven622 December 28, 2020

Answers

No. Frustrating isn't it. I moved a washer in the depth slide assembly and it improved the amount more than expected. See where the pen is pointing in the photo. Was on the right hand side of the slide originally. Could make or put in another washer as well. I have not yet cut anything with it after making this change as I got side tracked but it measures to about .015" difference front to back on mine. I should have gotten a precise before measurement instead of just after. But I am not changing it back now.

Will this cut a 4x4?

Asked by Anthony November 29, 2020

At 0 degrees, it has a depth cut of 2” 7/16. If you make a cut on both sides of the four by 4, you should be able to cut it completely

Does not cut straight. Don't buy this unit! I'm a Ryobi tools guy. I try to buy One+ whenever possible because I love the portability and have many batteries at this point. However, this saw is one I was extremely disappointed in. I bought this brushless unit for some small house projects (precise cuts with a fence/guide) only to find (after ruining over $100 worth of wood material), that mine was mounted completely crooked. At first I blamed myself (thinking I wasn't used to its weight/balance yet), then I blamed the stock blade. However, after upgrading to a quality blade and some more trial tests, I realized the unit is simply not mounted manufactured properly. Take a look at the picture. The ruler lays flat against the blade on one side, and nowhere near parallel to the base edge. This produces kerfed and inaccurate cuts every. time. If you need a saw for more than just rough cuts with almost no precision, this saw is okay. Otherwise, it's junk.

Disappointing! Shoe edge is not parallel.
I want to keep the saw but can't with the shoe edge not being parallel to the blade by about 0.080 inches from front to back causing binding when guide cutting and that just is not acceptable to me.Compared to my corded Skillsaw brand 7 1/4" circular saw many years old and seen better days. Same for my Craftsman 19.2V cordless 5 1/2" saw. The Ryobi saw cuts easiest of the bunch. Is fairly light and easy to handle. Much lighter than the Skillsaw. Well balanced with my 4.0 Amh battery installed.Cutting without guide is easy and smooth but when cutting across a new 2x6 green treated board. While using a speed square guide I noticed some added resistance. The binding is even more when ripping the board against a guide. It is smooth with no guide. Suspect even worse when cutting full saw blade depth but I didn't want to find out. The Skillsaw and Craftsman shoe edges are perfectly parallel. They can do it, why can't Ryobi? Why Ryobi, why?A couple of other notable items is that with blade on left side, using 2 hands means if you want to see the blade, you look between your arms. Something I didn't consider before.Stock blade seems thinner than my other 7 1/4" saw blades. Cost savings I'm sure, but what does thicker blade do to battery life?

Sounds like you are holding a miter box in your hand!
The brushless motor is great sounds so smooth like your miter box, cuts like dream with the stock blade. It is worth adding to your toolbox for sure!

Blade Guide Misaligned
As I have seen on many other reviews on HD and youtube for this saw, the blade guide is misaligned with no way to adjust it. This causes a problem when making cuts with a fence or straightedge causing the blade to pull towards to fence and bind up and stop the motor. Very frustrating and has ruined many pieces of stock trying to figure out it was user error or the saw. See picture attached for noticeable difference in blade to edge guide distance from front of saw to bottom. Do not buy unless you are using the saw for just free hand cuts but if that is the case you might as well not go for their most expensive saw that is defective.

Lemon or poor quality control!
Its tough for me to write this review as Ryobi makes incredible stuff. Something just aint right about this Brushless Ryobi 7.25 circular saw . I cant get it to cut straight. It stalls and veers several degrees in one direction and then stalls:gets jammed. You have to stop and start over. Even on 1cm thick cedar! I an so bunmed and frustrated. This definitely wasnt made by the “A team” My 5.5 would get jammed at times probably due to small blade so thats why i opted for an upgrade for a larger blade with more power.. I tried to share my thoughts directly with Ryobi but their site had issues with login in. I have 25 other Ryobi tools. I am a big fan. I will attach a treehouse I built with my 5.5 Ryobi Circular Saw. The 5.5 was so reliable but I was looking for more power and a larger blade to cut thicker pieces of wood. I believe I received a lemon or this was the worst Quality Control in Ryobi’s history. imo this saw should never made it to the consumer, it should have been pulled from the shelves, recalled and discontinued. Definitely want to try stay loyal and probably just go back to my old saw for now. I was thinking of going Milwaukee or Dewalt but i have a few batteries and charges so its an expensive and inconvenient change. I really hope the RYOBI team sees this review and acts not just for my sake but for all other Ryobi consumers out there considering this saw. btw I just bought a Ryobi brushless Driver and Jigsaw. They are unbelievable. I was so impressed I put up a review of Driver within a few minutes of drilling 12 one inch holes that took 3x faster my older Ryobi Driver. Thank you.

Awesome saw
This delivers the power of an electric saw. Not to heavy. And guess what, no cord. I really am enjoying my Ryobi One + tools. Got this circular saw with 2 - 3ah batteries and a bag.

Great for cutting all day long
I purchased the 7 1/4” circular saw 18v. I have the original 4 1/2” circular saw from years ago and decided to upgrade and see how it works. This was a great purchase to help building a new barn shed. I put the corded circular saw (Ryobi) away and decided to run the new one to see how it does. The 4AH battery and higher worked well 3AH and under not so good. The 9AH battery I have did the best. It powered its way thru everything. This saw with a diablo blade is a keeper.

The best portable saw I ever have in my life!
Powerful Motor! It loves to crosscut like it was nothing! But for Rip Cuts? I highly recommends using 18V 6.0AH +HP Lithium Battery to get more powerful cuts on Ripping lumbers and plywoods! I highly recommends diablo ultra fine 7-1/4" Circular Saw Blade! Best Value If you bundle this Saw with a Brushless Impact Driver and Brushless Drill/Driver! But I got this saw sold to me individually but with free 2 piece of 3AH +HP Battery and a Quick Charger! Best Value ever!

Convenient and capable
Bought this because I wanted something portable that was bigger than my 5 1/4 circular saw. Compared to the smaller brushed saw this guy is an animal but it’s still not on par with corded power but that’s ok. Battery life is good, left side blade which some may not like, slider safety switch which I hate, I get it but I can’t stand the awkwardness of this style, give me a switch with a detent so I can decide what position instead. Has an led light but doesn’t do much, onboard wrench storage. I’m running a thin kerf diablo, never even made a cut with the supplied ultra thin kerf so maybe it’ll go further on a battery with the ultra but works fine with the regular thin. Does cut a bit slow due to the rpms being on the low side but if it spun faster it would probably stall easier. Overall very happy considering the capacity and convenience and runtime of the tool.
