I just purchased the Ryobi glue gun a couple of weeks ago and would like to know whether it's normal to have to feed a second glue stick into the feeder when the first one isn't even close to being used up? I was using the glue gun to glue a couple of small things and I turned it off. About 15 or 20 minutes later I turned it back on and waited for it to get hot and I kept squeezing the trigger and no glue came out. I thought it might perhaps be clogged with the old glue but when I fed another glue stick in, that seem to do the trick (although the original glue stick was only used for two or three little things). Is it normal to have to feed a second glue stick into the gun despite the first glue stick not even being close to half used?

It's kinda like buying a new printer. When you put it the first ink cartridge it fills up the ink heads the second cartridge will last longer because the head is filled up.

No. The larger batteries only last longer. They only supply 18 volts regardless of the size.

I have not purchased this glue gun yet. Concerning the question asked of glue durability in temp extremes i can fully attest that it does work. Last year was the the first time I put up Xmas lights in the new house. I hot glued 400! c-9 christmas bulbs to my house which is ALL brick.....in South Carolina....and it rained, got down to 24 degrees for about 4 days, then got windy.......only had 3!!! get loose! Best solution for people with a brick home who want to put up lights. Put them up without the bulbs, put glue on socket, hold & press for 10 seconds......done! Take them off with a twist, sometimes glue stays on brick but comes off easily.

18-Volt ONE+ Cordless Full Size Glue Gun (Tool-Only) with 3 General Purpose Glue Sticks is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 351.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tool. Ok, so before I start my review I want to address all of the reviews out there about “the battery not lasting long enough” and it “taking too long to warm up”: it’s a cordless hot glue gun. If you have a project that takes over an hour and you have to have the glue gun on the whole time then buy a corded one. Crazy, I know! Also, I do not think it takes any longer to heat up than a corded one. Now, on to the review! This little glue gun is pretty cool. It heats up about the same as a corded one but with no cords you can go wherever. I wouldn’t recommend this if you have a workspace or workshop and your work area is in close relation to a plug. We use this for hanging Christmas lights to glue lights, timers, plugs, and wires to houses and it works absolutely perfectly for this. Gave it a 4 only because there is always room to improve but this is a great tool for the right job.

I always considered hot glue guns to be a bit of a craft item instead of a serious tool. Then I read a review about industrial hot glue formulations and all places it's used with a strong, fast method of bonding is needed. I purchases a 40w surebonder for the bench and it was very good. No complaints, fast enough warm up, plenty hot enough for the high temp formulations. Today I needed to make a repair on the car. The high temp stuff is more than capable of putting up with hot car temps so I pulled the trigger on this rather than string cords and worry about the cord pulling the glue gun off it's stand and hurting the upholstery. 60w is super fast warm up even with high temp glue. The repair was quick and painless and the price on this tool can't be beat. Good action on the trigger. This is basically a rebranded version of surebonder (also uses Ryobi batteries) but with a better handle and trigger. Recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes glue projects easy with cordless No need to place small rugs under the metal base of stools. Glue application is so easy, glue gun stands upright so no glue drips. I purchased a 12pk of 10" glue sticks to use on my four stools which used 3-1/4 sticks. No more annoying metal grating sounds on tile floors AND the stools are now non-slip.

I've had several corded hot glue guns both mini and full sized along with a Black and Decker rechargeable one. Corded glue guns all leak and fall over due to the weight of the cord and you're extremely limited to depending on the length of the cords. The Black and Decker rechargeable glue gun would have been great, BUT the battery didn't last long at all. That's when I decided to get this one. Boy am I glad I did. This is the tool only, but I have several Ryobi batteries because I own a lot of their tools and the batteries last so much longer in this glue gun and it doesn't leak at all. I'm beyond happy with this glue gun. You will be too. It takes full size glue sticks. I buy the really long ones so that I don't have to reload it as often.

The glue is boiling when it comes out if it sits more than a few minutes. I think the second version will be better if they take feedback and improve on the design. Probably would be better to just turn it off and on and not have it sitting ready. Need a timer or auto shut off feature - eats a battery up sitting idle and (as stated) the glue comes out boiling and bubbling. Seems it could go into a low power mode (yellow light) until picked up and then do a thirty second heat cycle to full temp with a beeping timer or light indicator or something similar. It is comfortable and looks great with my other Ryobi tools - very stable with both the big and little batteries. Also - the tip is a bit too wide and short for any delicate work - pretty much gobs of boiling glue on big surfaces are where this will shine - but doesn't help me much when building foam airplanes.

After burning myself too many times with my wife's ancient corded glue gun, I sought alternatives. I wanted one that was cordless, holds itself upright heats quickly and can be used safely by a nine year old. As I've got the battery/charger systems for Makita, DeWalt & Ridgid, I REALLY wasn't interested in another battery/charger system but those other manufacturers don't have glue guns. This Ryobi is really awesome! I don't do any crafts but if you're not walking around your house looking for things to fix with this hot glue gun, I'm not convinced you have a soul.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Thought it was a good glue gun. Bought in December 2017. if I used it 3 times in 2018 that's one time too many. The last time I went to use it, put a battery in it, turned it on, came back 20 minutes later to find a little puddle of glue on wax paper as you would expect to let you know it's heated up, squeezed trigger and I heard "snap" and now it's a bright green paperweight. Won't feed a glue stick. 4 or 5 very light and short uses and now it's junk. Poor quality and I expect more from Ryobi.

I bought it one year ago and it has changed my view of what a glue gun can be used for. Applications where I never would have considered one now just make sense. I've used several varieties of glue including a specialty stuff for automotive trim made by 3M. Haven't had a single issue with it. I use it several times per month, and it paid for itself in the first use.
