does a regular household extension cord work if you want to use wall outlet? OR if not where do I power the 120volt cord?
Asked by: todbnla
Yes a regular wall outlet will work. You will need a single outlet extension cord -- a standard household one wont fit in the hole in the back of the station.. Any single outlet power tool extension cord will work. Hope this helps

Is it a true 120W soldering gun or is that the watts it draws when running on AC?
Asked by: Dale
Its about 45w.. There is nothing whatsoever about this station that is 120w... It takes 120v ac (standard wall outlet / extension cord) when running on a cord... Hope this helps

Much heavier than a Hakko or Weller. Solders well. I would switch to a small chisel tip for any real electronic work. Also the automatic turn off feature cannot be disabled after 10 min.

Perfect for the portable hobbiest that needs the precision of a temperature controlled station... I use it for repairs on electronics everywhere from cars to radios at ham conventions to whatever project I happen to be working on.. Its great being able to just clip on a battery when running a cord isnt convenient.. The only downside is the temperature dial doesnt have marks for the differant working temps you might want -- so you have to shoot it with an IR temp gun and then mark the dial once you find the sweet spot you like. Also, tip selection SUCKS! Whats the point of having a precision iron if you cant get precision tips? I would really appriciate if this iron could accept tips from one of the professional lines -- like weller for example -- so that I could get purpose intended tips -- like narrow screwdriver tips for surface mount work... Overall, awesome product, so so support for its expected intended use..

Purchased this specifically to replace car speakers (with future expected uses) and love it. I was working far from any outlets so this was perfect. Has the option to be plugged in when you have the ability but mobility was one of the key reasons I got it. It heats up quickly and used an older Ryobi battery and was able to desolder the old speakers and solder all 4 new speakers before the battery was spent. Would highly recommend to anyone on the fence about this. Feels solid. It'll do what you need it to do, even if you don't have an outlet nearby.

I really like the fact that it can be cordless, it heated quickly, and worked well. Here's what I don't like: – The cord attached to the iron is very stiff. – The iron isn't held well in the coily spring thing. The iron is tapered, and when placed in the holder, the business end touches the coil. – There is no digital readout of the temperature, so finding the right temperature is trial and error. – The dial moves very freely so I wouldn't trust it to not to between uses. If I had to buy again, I would just get the Ryobi inverter to use with a Hakko iron, but that would cost quite a bit more.

Usually I have to drag my corded soldering station out and find a place to plug it in, sometimes using an extension cord. Working in the attic or out in the garden on the drip controllers or low voltage lighting can make that challenging. This soldering station is great for that type of project but also handy when it is inconvenient to move the corded soldering station. Thanks for the great design

I have a lot of professional ones at work, but hate taking them back-and-forth to the house when I need one, this is a perfect option. You can use a battery or AC power makes it very convenient heats up quick and gets hot enough. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have been looking to replace my old Radio Shack... I have been looking to replace my old Radio Shack iron on its last legs. This fits the bill and exceeded expectations. So far I have only used it with battery power and on some electronics projects I was amazed at how fast it got to the desired operating temperature. So far so good!
