Piece of Junk. Don’t waste your money
I’ve had this unit for 3 seasons. The first year was fine, no issues. I loved my new blower. The second year the tube from the fuel tank to the carburetor kept coming off. This season the unit wouldn’t start. Turns out, there were two broken piston rings.

      Really not worth $300
About the Ryobi backpack blower April of 2018 and brought home set it up and the thing ran great the first two times I used it then the third time every time you give it gas it would bog down and die so I brought it back a few months later I guess around December and got another one and the same thing but this one would not even crank after about three uses so I wish somebody would help me out with this it's just been a big headache for me and I hope you don't have to go through the same thing and I hope they can figure out what the flaws are because it really could be a nice blower

Bogging down after a few years ***FIX***
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don’t write reviews ever but wanted to share since I found others having the same issue. This blower ran great from the time it was new up till about 3 years of use. Started having issues with it bogging down when you give it throttle and would die out. Tried fresh gas mix and adjusting the carburetor screws with the ‘pac man’ tool from Amazon. No luck. I picked up the 50:1 premix to try for the first time and a new spark plug even though it didn’t look bad. Another small symptom I didn’t take much notice till tinkering was the primer bulb would be slow to return when priming. ***The problem was the fuel filter down in the tank - looked dark and grey. They are white when new. I popped on a new one and the primer bulb worked normally. I went ahead and replaced the spark plug as well. Fired right up and had to tweak the carb screws again after messing with it before. Blower starts right up and runs on full speed now. Running great.

            Disappointed
This Ryobi leaf blower was in the right price range when I purchased it about 4 years ago. I do not have a big yard but do have a lot of leaves to blow during the Fall. Started experiencing motor and parts issues in the 2nd year, including the same re-start issue referenced in another review. I would leaf blow my small front yard, power off and then attempt to re-start within a short period of time for the back yard but wouldn't start. Sometimes after I start the blower, it will power off when I apply the throttle, even after I let the motor run (warm up) for a period time. Also in the 2nd year, the hose started to crack and then fell off, which I've had to tape on and strap on with zip ties. If I had to do it all over again, I would've invested the extra $ to purchase a higher quality leaf blower. You get what you pay for and this will be my first and last Ryobi leaf blower.

Purchased in Sep of 2017 for $399 and now its $199?
I purchased the BP42 185 MPH 510CFM for $399 back in Sep of 2017. The unit performs very well but thought it was overpriced. The one problem I have always had with the unit is once you use it for a lengthy period of time and turn it off it become very difficult to start again. This would result in having to let the unit sit and cool off and then go through the cold start process. This year the flex tube cracked, though the unit is still under the 3 Year Warranty I assumed that the tube part #580693004 would be covered under the Factory Warranty. WRONG! So in short, I did not even get three years of use out of a $399 product even though I only use this product for residential use and not commercial. Add insult to injury and the product is now selling for half the price @ $199 compared to when I purchased it not even three years ago? Is the quality still the same? I will say, the unit cold starts fine very time and does perform well. The Backpack is comfortable and adjustable and the blower is not overly heavy.

Works great for clearing powdery snow so far this Winter. Waiting to see what kind of job it does it with the leaves. Can't beat it for the price.

                powerful blower
this blower is actually incredible. only had to refuel 6 times for 1 acre of continues full throttle use. This blower has an extremely powerful force that moves a stack of leaves about 2 ft high very quickly. it did take me 5 hours but that is because I had a full yard of leaves, had to get gas...and lunch. I would highly recommend this blower. I was hesitant because of horror stories of Ryobi anything but to be honest,I had a small blower that is a ryobi and had it for 5 years and would start every single time with one pull. if you are on the fence with this don't be. it's worth the money. I ran this thing hard for 4 and a half hours full throttle and this thing moved some serious amount of leaves. buy it,I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

The best one that I'v bought last twenty years. When you use 89 grade gas with no ethanol like shell gas or sunoco it will over perform commercial blowers. I have 1/2 acre of back yard. It used took me six to seven hours to clean out. This time with Ryobi 760CFM took me less than two hours and I enjoyed sound of this machine. I have three other blowers still working good, but this one is the champ~!
