More than acceptable and will get the job done.
Overall I have no complaints. I do like that this is a compact little variety pack that will cover a variety of projects and phases of projects, and yes there are a few duplicates of the common grades of sandpaper too.
Typically Velcro esque backing features for disc sanders.
The only thing that caused me to nick a star off was I noticed compared to my usual Diablo discs, there are fewer air filtration holes which may be an issue for you, but just depends on what type of sander you have and where the filter holes line up.
I love using good sandpaper on my orbital sander when I am sanding rough lumber and this ryobi sandpaper is no joke. It’s amazing! This 5 inch sandpaper comes in 3 different grits 220, 120, and 80. It has very good Velcro on the back with perfectly sized holes for catching sawdust in many different brands of sanders. As you can see in the pictures it is good quality and I’m happy with the product.
I’ve been buying more Ryobi items lately, not a lot; but a few here and there depending on circumstances.
I wasn’t pleased really with the brand of sandpaper I was using for the last 7-8 years, so I figured why not try this Ryobi paper and see how it holds up. Inside the package was 3x 80 grit, 2x 120 grit, and 2x 220 grit.
The first thing I noticed was that all the dust/exhaust holes in the paper lined up perfectly with the base pad and all of the dust/exhaust holes on my 5” Skil orbital sander. The old brand I used was always out of round and the holes never lined up right which created thick dust clouds. My old brand would also spontaneously tear away from the Velcro backing, usually on a brand new piece if the base pad was hot from friction, and then never stick to the sander again.
To test the paper I ran a piece of 80 grit on an 1’ by 8’ strip of OSB that I’m going to use as a temporary substrate while I’m bending pre-painted rolled aluminum wrapping. I only sanded it to ensure I didn’t mar up the painted finish as I’m trying to work it.
After about 30 minutes of sanding it was fairly smooth and the paper was still cutting nicely. There was little to no loading on the paper. Any dust was easily brushed away. Most of the dust was being sucked into the cartridge filter on the sander as well, which dramatically improved the air quality compared to the old brand I used.
I then swapped out the 80 grit for a piece of 120 grit next to sand up some 1” x 3” wood that I’d ripped in half on the table saw. This was going to be put up as casing on a front door I’d just installed. The 120 grit made quick work of the pine and was smooth enough for my needs within about 5 minutes. There was a bit more loading on the 120 grit compared to the 80 grit, but a soft brush took care of it easily.
The biggest gains I noticed over the brand I used previously were:
1. The paper seems not load up or burn the dust into the paper. It continues to cut well even after long periods of use.
2. The glued backing doesn’t separate from the paper backing when the sander heats up from friction.
3. The exhaust holes for wood dust are perfectly positioned, for my sander anyway, which significantly reduced the saturation of wood particles in the air, thereby improving air quality.
I plan on sticking with this paper for the foreseeable future; I’d only be taking steps backwards if I didn’t.
I like this variety pack because it is excellent for a complete project from rough sanding all the way to fine finishing. Though these are Ryobi products, the perfectly fit my Milwaukee random orbital sander and have the same hook & loop attachment system. This pack is enough to sand and finish a medium piece of furniture and then some! Great Ryobi quality as well.

Overall very good quantity. Thicker than some others out there. Very easy to switch back and forth and no issues with the backing. All the discs are pretty sturdy and easy to use. It fist any other sander out there. Doesn’t have to be specific to a Ryobi. The package comes with different grits. They are economical. No gaps when mounting. One disc lasted an tire sanding of a one bedroom furniture. Would keep buying.

This orbit sand paper kit worked exactly as I thought. These fit my Dewalt orbital sander perfectly with the holes matching perfectly for the dust vents. I used them for a backsplash project, I had removed old brick plastic plating leaving my wall very rough. This pack had 80 grit, 120, grit, and 220 grit, and I used all of them to make my wall flat for my project.

This multi pack (seven total) of assorted sanding discs is perfect if you are doing a small project and need various different grits of sandpaper during your finishing process. Obviously it is compatible with the Ryobi branded sanders. The discs themselves are of fairly good quality, and would fit any brand orbital sander with eight dust collection holes.

First of all I have to admit I like Ryobi products and I have a good number of them. So when I saw this variety pack of 5" random orbital sander sanding disks I wanted to give them a try. My project is transforming a wooden tool cabinet that I built over 20 years ago into a coffee machine / condiments cart. The pack comes with 3 x 80 grit disks, 2 x 120 grit disks and 2 x 220 grit disks, which is pretty much what I use on stain and sealer projects. I like the hook and loop fasteners (aka velcro) over adhesive backed or mechanical grip attachment systems. I have had the adhesive disks fly off... fortunately away from me and not toward me, I have yet to have these hook and loop disks fly off. The attached photos show the disks and the transformation of the well used top to the finish I'm looking for, kind of a rustic finish with the wood grain of the plywood being shown off.,

RYOBI 5” Seven Piece Random Orbit Sand Paper (A21701) comes with a “Variety” of grits.
The discs 8 holes for dust collection matched my non-Ryobi sander perfectly. The three grits provided – 80, 120, 220 – are a good selection for general duty sanding. The paper cuts well without loading up excessively.
I appreciate that the plastic packaging was labeled for recycling.
My complaint is that there is no indication on the packaging, and no way to determine without opening the package, what the additional grits are or how many there are. I can see that one is P220 but there is no way to see the other grits provided or how many of each. I would be asking for assistance at the store to open the package to determine this.
As a consumable item, warranty against defective parts and labor only.

The Ryobi 7-piece orbit sand paper is great for this crafter. When my new puppy decided he wanted to use my curio table as a teething ring, I simply looked for metal corner pieces and refinished the table. The variety pack of sand paper allowed me to strip the old stain, smooth out the bite marks and prepare the the table with a new coat of stain. The table turned out great! If you’ve got a refinishing project, I would recommend this sand paper!!
