Q:For the Ryobi 6500 watt gasoline Inverter Generator: 1. What is the total harmonic distortion (THD) rating for this model? 2. Does this model have a fuel gage or low fuel indicator?
by|May 7, 2024

Answer This Question

A:  Hello, Geni - Yes, this model has a low fuel indicator via the GenControl Bluetooth App. By simply downloading the app and connecting your gas inverter you will be able to monitor fuel levels and runtime. The THD rating for this model is < 3%. If you need further support, then feel free to ask another question. Q:what size do i need to run a refrigerator
    by|May 2, 2024
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Hello, Barbara - That will depend on the running watts and starting watts of the refrigerator. If your refrigerator's starting watts are equal to or less than 2300 and the running watts are equal to or less than 1800, you could use this generator. If you need further support, then feel free to ask another question. Leaks oil
Generator works but it leaks oil since day one. Took it to warranty shop they said we find no leak that'll be $100.00. Just got off the phone with Ryobi customer service they said it's normal to leak oil? Not a good sign buy a better brand.

              4000 Gen Inverter
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got today. Was a little rough on the start up. Not sure if there was a clog in the line or carburetor. But got it running and tested power all good. I did not get a wheel kit with the generator.

                Saved the day/night
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this generator I bought it earlier this year and my wife said why are you getting a generator you will never use it. Well monsoons came and our power went out. With a new baby and a refrigerator full of food Ryobi was there to save the day slash night. We made it and did not have to throw away any food or spend money on replacing food thanks to my never going to use generator ha. The best thing is being prepared to make someone eat their own words. Thank you Ryobi your inverter generator saved us and our appliances cause with the inverter generator we had safe clean power all at our house with a flip of a switch.

                  A little tricky to start
I purchased this 2 years ago. I always had trouble cold starting, until I discovered that if I just move the handle from OFF until I feel a click, it starts on one pull. One warm, it needs to be on RUN to restart. It seems to cycle on idle quite a bit and revs up every time a load like my sump pump comes on. I added two breakers and a separate outlet in my garage to feed my panel, with main breaker OFF.

Air filter not oiled it will suck in dirt!!!!
I used this generator around 20 hours before taking it to a place that had fine dirt. After that day it started having trouble starting and when it would start it would bog down from almost no load. So at this point I started pulling it apart and to my horror I found the air box full of dirt. The air filter is just a porous foam filter, it would need to be oiled to stop small particles. Tried taking it back to Home Depot as it was under three years old and they would warranty it. DONT BUY!!!

                      Variable power control needs work
Super simple to set up. Starts really easy. Reasonably quiet. Great: Uses very little gas as I can tell Nice with the remote "supervision" on the phone app, especially to see estimated time left before refueling is needed. Clean design with everything encapsulated. Good handles to grab and move the unit. Not so great: the "auto idle control" does not keep up with some loads, and throws the generator into "overload" and shutdown mode, even when total load is within the specified limits.

Most power and fuel efficiency $$
I've owned this generator for awhile now and it is quite and fuel efficient, compared to other ones we've used in the past.. I unboxed it put the required amount of oil and fuel in it and then promptly put it to work, charging tool batteries and running lights here at our homestead high in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.. Couldn't be happier with it's performance so far, having put a couple of hundred hours on it as of now..
