Q:20 minutes is not a long run time? I'm a woman, it takes me longer then 20 minutes to mow the just the front lawn. How long does it take to recharge the battery?? My back yard is quite big, seems to me I would be mowing from morning to night??

Don’t buy this
This mower is NOT good! I have Bermuda grass that was slightly overgrown by a week. This mower constantly quits! When it does work it throws grass everywhere even with the side discharge plastic piece attached. I was left with cut grass all over my yard and all over me too. I was only able to mow the back on a full battery charge. This is going back to Home Depot!

Very pleased with this purchase.
I have a small yard and am on a tight budget. My dad turned me on to the notion of battery powered. First cut after winter so I cut it high, plus new yard with tall grass, so didn’t want to take any chances. I have to say I am extremely pleased with the ease of use. It cut the heck out of my grass!! Although not self propelled, still easy to maneuver.

Gets the job done
Great mower. The push button start is so much easier than the pull cord. What prompted me to write a review is that you can fold up the handle and store it vertically as shown in my picture. This is great for someone with a cluttered garage.

Don't give up your gas mower yet....
I bought this a couple months ago to do trim mowing that my rider can't get to. This mower was priced about the same as budget gas mowers, so I decided to give it a shot. After using is several times, I have an opinion.
Years ago I had a little L*wnb*y mower with a magnesium deck that was used for the same purpose. Sadly, it eventually died. I was hoping that this cordless Ryobi would fill the same niche. It doesn't...
This mower is lightweight because it's mostly plastic. The photo is a view under the deck. Every metal part of this mower is attached to the plastic deck with self tapping torx head screws. I expect the holes to eventually strip and the screws to fall out. For it's weight, this mower doesn't really push that easily. There seems to be too much friction from the blowmolded plastic wheels (just like your grill uses). The side discharge chute works, but the attachment is pretty cheesy. The 4 amp hour battery is good for about a half hour of mowing as long as the grass isn't heavy or long. Short verdict- it's gutless and construction is cheap, cheap, cheap.
If you have a postage stamp lawn and mow frequently so the grass is short, this will work for you. If you have a real lawn, look elsewhere.

Flawed height adjustment
I just put the handle on, so I haven't used it to cut grass yet. However, it has an obvious design flaw in the height adjustment method. I'd read about this in other reviews, so it wasn't a surprise. A major reason I bought this mower is that I have a Ryobi snow-thrower that I like a lot and which uses the same 40v battery and charger. And this seemed like a light replacement for a gas mower and enough to do my small yard. The design flaw is this: The lever to adjust the height is shaped in such a way that it won't stay in the slots for various heights. As soon as you move the mower, the lever drops down into the lowest height. I tried bending the lever, but it would have none of that. So I've put the lever into the height slot I want (I think) and tied the lever to the mower handle with a piece of rope so it will stay there (I hope) and not slide down to the lowest height. But this is something Ryobi should have caught early on and fixed. I put "average" in the various appraisals above because I haven't actually used the mower to cut my grass yet, so I don't know how it will rate. So take those "average" ratings with a grain of salt. It could be a great mower. I hope so. But this design flaw is something Ryobi should have corrected early on in its production.

This mower works great for my small yard but as others have noted there is a major design failure on the height adjustment lever. It pops out of the setting and I had to use a piece of wire to keep it in place. other than that I love it but I can't recommend it given that issue.

My one complaint and it is a big one is the height adjuster won t stay in a lock position. You move the mower and it slips to the lowest position and stops mowing. I had to tie the adjuster to a lock position. Not happy and can t find anyone to complain too about it.

Fabulous mower
This is a wonderful mower. I went back and forth between spending the extra money on the self propelled and I’m glad I didn’t. This mower is so lightweight, the self propelled is not needed. I have back issues and I can start this with one hand. Starting a gas mower became completely impossible. This is very easy to maneuver.
