A:  This particular power device has typically been an online only type item, but some stores may carry it as a stock item. These batteries however are a common item for most stores, when available in stock.

Good to Run Pellet Stove During Power Outage
I bought this for running my pellet stove during power outages, which I've never experienced for more than 4 hours at my current house. Bonus is that I can use it as a power source in my shed or yard, and I already have a bunch of Ryobi cordless equipment (some using the 40v batteries), so it all meshes. Wasn't sure if it would power my pellet stove, and if it would, for how long. So, when I received this power pack, I immediately set it up to charge the batteries. Okay, I will say I took off 1 star because it takes FOREVER to charge all 4 batteries (12 hours +/-). I might have done better to remove two of them and charge them with my individual charger while the power station charged the other 2. The next day, while the pellet stove was cold, I plugged it into the power station. Happy to report that the stove started (this is the time of most energy draw with the igniter and fans going,), and ran thru its cycle which was about an hour, before it shut down. The pellet stove is on a thermostat and the reason it shut down was because it hit the set point- nothing to do with the power station. After that hour of stove run time, the batteries had hardly any draw so I believe I could easily get 10 hours continuous running time, if not more (and of course, my needs would entirely depend on weather). The running stove did not in any way strain the power station so I am completely happy with my purchase. For those that didn't read the entire review - the only reason I took off 1 star was for time it took to charge the batteries.

Good value and performance and easy to opperate
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For a couple of years, I have been looking at options for a 1500-watt replacement setup. I have been using my camper batteries with a 1500-watt inverter for power outages and times when I need portable power. Our power does not go out much and when it does it is not for very long. I also have a small generator to use with the camper and outages. Mostly I am looking to not have to run the generator all the time or at night. We do not use the camper at campgrounds without power. I do have 200 watts of solar panels. While looking at solar generators I concluded that they were interesting and could be useful, but I would not use the solar charging very often. That and I had six 6-amp, two 5-amp and two 4-amp batteries for a total of 1500 watts of battery capacity. To gain that much capacity in a solar generator would have costed 1500 dollars. I would only be able to use it for specific things and not very often. With the Ryobi system I can use the batteries whenever I am using the tools. I already had two of the 300-watt inverters that get used a lot. I started looking at the Ryobi inverter. I ended up getting two so I could link them together to run the camper. With the four additional batteries that came with the inverters I now have over 2000 watts of battery capacity. First, around the house. I have run the test with the refrigerator, freezer, and electronics. On four 6-amp batteries there was just short of 8 hours of run time. On the stand-up freezer it was just short of 5 hours. The 55-inch tv, internet router and modem lasted over 8 hours. During our power outages I usually would get 5 hours to 50% of capacity without the freezer. Then I would rotate generator and batteries until power was restored. With the two batteries to 50% was about 900 watts according to the watt meter. With the same items being ran with the Ryobi battery capacity I have; it would give me well over 8 hours. I have tested using the camper batteries for charging the tool batteries that have been used. I am looking at 12 hours before having to start the generator. Once every 5 years our power is out for more than a day. I am hoping to only have to run the generator for 8 hours a day which I would have to do any way to keep the freezer temp in range. It is too big of a draw for batteries. It is nice being able to get stuff up and running as soon as the power goes out. The generator is in storage and needs to be fueled and moved before it can be operated. Not much fun in the rain and dark which is when the power goes out. I use the 300-watt inverters at work a lot. The school is an old building with few outlets. As we increase the electronic devices there are not enough outlets. I also must use hallway space for small groups. If it were not for the inverters, it would be very frustrating. On occasions when I know I might want to use a projector I could bring one of the big inverters. Would not plan to do it a lot because they are big, but they would work. I have also toted the camper batteries and inverter to youth activities so we can watch a movie outside. Cannot run a generator because then you cannot hear the movie. These are a lot lighter and simpler to use. Camper: We do not boondock so I really do not need something that recharges fast or needs solar. Where it will be useful though is while traveling. We do not like to run the fridge on propane while we travel. It is propane or 110 volts. The small inverters will not power it. It is to complicated to run power from the camper batteries. I have rigged a 1500-watt inverter with my 18 volt tool batteries. These will clean it up and run it while we travel. The other issue is stopping along the way to take a break or eat. Inside the camper is hot. Linking the two inverters with eight 6-amp batteries will run the a/c. On my first test run, they lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes. Plenty of time to use it while traveling. On two occasions we have had power go out at the campground. Both times have been late at night. These would have allowed us to keep the a/c going for a while. Both times the power was out for a few hours due to circuit brakers going out. With the inverter in the truck I am able to recharge four batteries at a time. I do have an addition small inverter that would allow me to charge two more. With three hours between stops I would be able to flip batteries during the trip. What I like: I like that it is pure sine wave so I can use it with anything. I like being able to swap batteries without losing power. I like being able to link the two units together to increase capacity and power. I like that the units do not have to be connected so I can use them in two locations at the same time. I like that it gives me the ability to use the tool batteries I already have on hand. I like that I can spread the cost of adding capacity over time. I can buy a new battery here and there when I can afford it. I also add capacity every time I add a tool that comes with a battery. I like the gen control app. I have seen multiple people complain about the screen on the inverter, but I seldom look at it. The app is easy to use and has all the info I need. I like the USB C plugs. I like that it is easy to carry and move around. What I would change: Some of the buttons are recessed and small. My large fingers have a difficult time pushing them. (The Gen Control app can turn the light on though). This is not something you could put in the back of the truck for the weekend in the middle of nowhere. If you are doing things for short periods of time and you could charge batteries this is perfect. If you already have the Ryobi 40-volt batteries this is very practicable. If you do not, I highly recommend the brand. I have had their 18-volt line for 10 plus years and their 40 volt for 2. Ryobi’s main competitor does not have the ability to link two units together nor does it have USB C ports. It has a solar charge adapter; however, it is slow and you cannot use it and charge it at the same time. The Ryobi batteries are competitively priced, and the unit is priced well in comparison.

                Not ready for real-world use.
This power station is not capable of running 1800 watt devices period. It consistently overloaded when trying to run 1400 watt tools. I used a kilo-watt to monitor watts and tried to us 1400 watt tools (according to the kilo-wat) while cutting, and the power station shut down. The fact that this is labeled as being capable of running 1800 watt tools is just ridiculous. After getting a “system fault call for service” error I happily returned it.

                  Initial test
So I have 6 40 volt 6ah and 2 40 volt 4ah batteries. With full charge on all batteries, I ran 875W pulling 53% power from the inverter. I was running an oscillating fan and an oscillating heater. The 8 total batteries gave me ~90 minutes of runtime on these devices. Easy to swap batteries but how many full 40 volt 6ah batteries can someone expect to have? This could help in a pinch. My advice would be to get this only if you already use the battery operated tools (Mower/weed eater/etc…).

Inverter works great but batteries are too tall
Overall the inverter works well, tested with a 6hp shop vac and it had no problem running it, however I will need to return due to an issue with the battery. The unit I purchased included 2 6ah batteries and they are unfortunately too tall to fit in my 40v mower. This is the first product (5 40v and 30+ 18v tools) that I have had with Ryobi where the battery was an issue. The 6ah included is about twice the height of my 5ah and looks like it is not the other shorter 6ah that is available.

Hello, Grover - We apologize that the battery didn't work with your mower! Due to the size of the 40V 6.0 Ah battery (4.5 in. tall), it is not compatible with some of our 40V products, such as the models below.

A really good but pricey option for clean power
I love the concept of the power station. Clean power for all electronics with no fumes or dirty output like generators. Also completely quiet besides the small fan which makes very little noise. Power output is relative to the source so I have to say it's good. The display or app could use some upgrades. One or both should give estimated run time left, in regards to the current load. Giving the amount of time the inverter has been running means little. How much time is left could be crucial. There are also several huge issues in regards to charging the unit that could use some major/crucial improvements. Overall, I'm impressed & like the unit. I was on the fence about possibly returning it if I didn't like it but I'm satisfied. I do believe the price should be considerably less. The tool at $700 is pretty steep when an inverter producing 1800-2000 watts can be had for considerably less. I understand paying for the luxury of it being more portable & able to use indoors but considering you have to spend at least $150 more to get "fuel" for it, I believe either package of the inverter is overpriced about $200. That being said, I do still believe it can be worth that price for a small market.

My house is now powered by Ryobi!
This is awesome! My only gripe is that the batteries that were delivered, while all the same 6Ah, 2 were much larger that came with it. I plan on getting another to both counter the battery mismatch and to double the capacity.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a musician I bought this to have portable power wherever I play. It handles my Guitar, keyboard, mixing board, 2 speakers, microphone, lights, iPhone & more for over 5 hours. Quiet enough that I even used it to play at a funeral.

                          Can Run My RV AC
Have you ever been camping in and it was still too hot to sleep after quiet hours and you can't run your gas generator? This is the solution. Now you can't run it for hours on end, but it's strong enough to knock off the edge in that hot RV after quiet hours. I love the easy controls in the app too. Don't even have to go outside to turn on the power anymore.
