Can Run My RV AC
Have you ever been camping in and it was still too hot to sleep after quiet hours and you can't run your gas generator? This is the solution. Now you can't run it for hours on end, but it's strong enough to knock off the edge in that hot RV after quiet hours. I love the easy controls in the app too. Don't even have to go outside to turn on the power anymore.

Powerstation falls short. Missed opportunity :-(
It came today! I've been waiting for Ryobi to come out with a large inverter / Powerstation for a while. Finally they have come out with a 1800W pure sinewave system that uses up to four of their 40V batteries. Unfortunately the product falls short. Here are my test results so far. I'll probably be returning the system :-( Pros: Nice packaging, 5 Year Warranty, hot swap batteries, can mix different size batteries, you already own batteries, Bluetooth App Cons: Can't Charge & use at same time, Only 2.1A USB, Can't run Microwave, Not 18V battery Compatible, USB Type C compatibility issues, Need 4 Batteries for large loads, Poor Display, No Watt meter, No MPPT solar charging. Check youtube for a full video review. I've returned mine :-(

The Ryobi 40 Volt 1800 watt power station is a nice item to have on hand mainly for short outages. The unit itself weighs about 30 pounds and comes complete with everything you need to get started. Included in the box are two 6ah 40v batteries, charging cradle and an ugly green cover. The two batteries will need to be charged so expect to charge at least four to six hours. I only got around to trying this thing out about ten days ago when we lost power for about 3 hours. I had just recovered from covid are there was no way i was able to get my full size generator going so this little guy saved the day. I was able to run my 65in tv and a portable heater and my laptop throughout the power outage. I also had an extra two batteries that i use with other tools. There are usb ports to charge cell phones and other electronics. There is also an lcd screen that shows battery life. Download the app as there are alot more features which are useful. All in all i am pleased with this unit.

The Ryobi Generator came neatly packed and protected in the box. Very easy to follow directions to get it charged and available for use. This is a lithium battery-operated portable generator. It comes with 2 batteries, but can hold up to 4. It has a plastic cover to keep it from getting wet. It weighs approximately 26 pounds and has an easy carry handle. You also have optional metal holders at each end in case you want to add a carrier strap for additional ease of portability. It has USB ports, 120V AC ports, and a work light. I like the LCD display as it shows battery life so you don't have to guess. It is bluetooth compatible by adding the app to your cell phone. You can check battery status, total run hours, settings, power shutdown and adding a second generator. Very modern!

The RYOBI 40-VOLT 1800-WATT POWER STATION LITHIUM BATTERY INVERTER PUSH START GENERATOR/4 PORT CHARGER is handy to have for charging phones, laptops or other USB charged devices for both USB A and USB C plugs. There are two USB C ports and four USB A ports. It also can power 110 volt devices through three ungrounded receptacles. The inverter comes with two 40 Volt batteries which gives the inverter a lot of reserve power. It can hold a total of 4 40V batteries, which would give it an amazing amount of power. Plugging the device into an electrical outlet allows you to charge the batteries, which charge in sequence. It took several hours to charge both batteries, so you want to make sure they always are charged if you are planning to use this for emergency outages. I used it to run a 1 hp 4 gallon air compressor. running at about 36% load. It easily powered the compressor until the tank was full, and as I used the air, it kept the compressor running to recharge the tank. I also ran a 5 gallon Porter Cable shop-style vacuum. I ran the vacuum for about 20 minutes. The inverter showed it was pulling about 51% load. An LED screen keeps you apprised of the charge level of the batteries and you can also us an APP from Ryobi to monitor the device via bluetooth, as well. After running the compressor and vacuum, one of the batteries was at about 25% while the second battery was still fully charged. No doubt these batteries can provide quiet a bit of reserve power and would be a great tool to have in the event of a power outage. It comes with a complete set of instructions but is pretty intuitive to use. There is a slight drawback in that the charging cord has a converter brick with a small two prong plug that goes into the device. It seems that a more durable mechanism could have been used.

Despite it's limitations, I really like the new Ryobi 40v Power Station. It really allows me extra use out of my 40v batteries. I was able to pull a full 1600w load, and this unit did not even hesitate. I had a real power outtage while testing this unit, and got to run it for real during a snow storm. I was able to easily run my pellet stove all day, and being able to swap batteries out without losing 120v power was really nice. There is also an option to add a second Power Station to increase the capacity. There are a couple short comings with this unit. The display is just terrible. It is a really cheap LCD display, and it only has a dummy bar to display the demand on the Station. The side buttons for the lamp, display light, and pairing button are really tough to press. I usually use a key to hit that tiny button. You also cannot charge the batteries while using the inverter. If you plug in the charger, it switches to charge mode automatically. The phone app is pretty nice. It gives a much better display than the built in display, and allows you to more easily operate the side buttons. This is definitely intended for home indoor use. There is a large font recommendation on the box saying it is for indoor use. There are also warnings not to use it in direct sunlight or cold environments. It does come with a cover, which actually surprised me. The cover is the hideous Ryobi green.

The RYOBI 40 Volt 1500 Watt Battery Powered Inverter Generator is a great solution for providing indoor or outdoor power without the concern of carbon monoxide. The product comes with the generator, two 40v 6Ah batteries and a cover to protect it from moisture. There appear to be locations on the product for attaching a carrying strap but no strap was included in the package. This generator can be used with a parallel kit and another generator to provide additional power or longer run time. The generator can accept a maximum of four 40v batteries. Run time varies depending on quantity and size of batteries as well as load. To test the product I connected a vacuum to generate a high load which the display of the device indicated at 78%. With two fully charged 6Ah batteries and the 78% load, the generator was able to provide approximately 18 minutes of runtime before it stopped providing power to the 120v outlets and indicated a low voltage warning on the display and turned on the integrated LED work light with a red color. The integrated LED work light can be set in high white, low white, solid red and flashing red. The display panel can have high, low and no backlight. The front of the unit has the LED work light, display panel, four type A 2.1A 5VDC USB ports, two type C 3A USB ports that can produce 5, 12 and 20VDC, a power button, a button to enable the three 120V 15A outlets, a circuit breaker reset button, a Bluetooth pairing button, the parallel generator connections and the charging port. On the back of the unit is a fan that spins at varying speeds to keep the internal electronics within safe temperature ranges. The display indicates which battery positions are occupied and the charge level of the batteries. It also indicates if Bluetooth is active and how long the generator has been powered on. The only drawback to this product is the charging time. While the generator can charge the attached batteries with the included charger cable, each 6Ah battery took approximately 4 hours to charge. Considering my test case of two batteries with a 78% load it took 8 hours to charge the batteries and only 18 minutes to fully drain them. This product would be far more useful if the integrated charger was a rapid charger. Ryobi does sell a rapid charger that can charge the same 6Ah battery in 1 hour. The retail box of the product provides some example runtimes for the generator with two 6Ah batteries: Decorative lights (LED): 85-100+ hours Wi-Fi Router/Modem: 30-50+ hours Decorative lights (incandescent): 15-25+ hours Halogen bulb (60 watts): 4-8+ hours Large TV (50 inches): 1-4+ hours Refrigerator: 1-4+ hours They also estimate number of charges for certain device types based on two 6Ah batteries: Cell Phone: 45+ charges Tablet: 7+ charges Laptop: 3+ charges Adding additional batteries of the same or larger Ah will provide additional runtime. The largest 40V battery I have seen from RYOBI is 7.5Ah.

The Ryobi 40 Volt 1800 watt power station is perfect for indoor use, it only weighs about 30 pounds, I recently used the generator when our power went out after a tree fell during a snow storm, the generator kept our modem running and our phones and laptops charged until the power was restored. It has convenient 3 prong outlets, along with usb-a and usb-c ports as well. I can’t wait to take this generator camping over the summer. The unit comes with 2 Ryobi batteries with the option of charging up to 4 at one time. My favorite feature is the app which offers remote monitoring from my phone.

This is an awesome generator. It produces a clean sinusoidal 120 Volts AC output. I measured the output voltage with my voltmeter and it measured 119.5 volts AC. I looked at the waveform of the output voltage on my oscilloscope and it was clean and sinusoidal. It is bigger than it looks on the internet. It weighs in at 21 pounds with the two 6Ah batteries that are included. It measures 17 inches long by 12 inches wide by 13 inches tall. I tested it with a total load of two 800 watt heaters plus one 100 watt incandescent light bulb and it produced clean sinusoidal 120 volt AC power. The LED display said "Load Level Total 98%" during this test. The internal fans ramped up during this test. The app is awesome. It was real cool to be able to toggle the power on and off on my Android cell phone. I was even able to turn the generator completely off with the app. I tested the 4 USB outputs with my 4 ohm test load and they were able to output around 4.8 volts. Other devices that I have tested can put out closer to 5.0 volts. I measured the input power used by the charger while charging and it measured 64 watts. When the batteries were all charged it measured only 1 watt. I am disappointed that the charger runs so hot when charging. I measured a spot in the middle of the back of the charger at 130 degrees Fahrenheit with my infrared thermometer. The rest of the black plastic charger case measured as low as 100 degrees Fahrenheit. I noticed that it is hard to get the batteries out without bumping my fingers or thumb on the silver handle. There is only about 1/4 of an inch of clearance between the light gray battery latch on top of the battery and the silver handle. Overall this is an innovative and impressive product.

The nice thing about the RYOBI, 1500-watt, battery-powered generator is that there is no noise, second, it is totally mobile. There are 3-120-volt 15-amp receptacles, 4-type A, and 2 type "c" USB ports. The onboard LED work light has high/low, solid red, or flashing red. A plug-in charger. It even has Bluetooth capability. It comes with 2-40-volt 6Ah very high-capacity batteries, it can hold 4 batteries total. If you notice pic # 5 it has, on the left, one of the 2 batteries that came with it, on the right is also a 40-volt 6 Ah battery but not as high of capacity/run time. I also got a separate (m#op403) standard charger so that I can charge batteries while using the generator. If you notice pic #6, that is the LCD screen with a 93-watt floor fan plugged in on low speed. I am using ports 2 and 4 and both batts are fully charged, all four bars lit. After 1/2 hour both batts. went down to 3 bars, at 2 hours both batts. showed 2 bars, while the LCD screen showed 3 bars. While this has many possible uses and is not just for power outages, think of how and what you need to power (total load) and for how long, (run time capacity) then determine total battery quantity. There are charts out there that can help you figure the load (wattage) and possible run time, Ah (amp hours) of your appliance. The batteries are Lithium-ion and can be pricey. For me, with the right battery/charger set up, even a solar charger, mobility of use is the best asset.
