Only $10 cheaper than the RY404170 backpack blower that includes the 2 batteries and charger.

5 Months Of Use...
I have 2 of these mounted on a wall shelf & they have worked perfectly. Having 2 allows continuous use of tools with multiple sets of batteries. The fan cooling helps a lot also. Charges 4 ahr., 6 ahr., & 7.5 ahr. batteries in the published times.

Excellent - Rapid charger charges in about 1/3 the time of the regular charger
This rapid charger is a very helpful addition to our Ryobi tool set. Using a Ryobi 4Ah 40V battery that is completely out of charge, it takes less than one hour to fully charge the battery with the rapid charger, and it takes less than three hours to fully charge the battery with the regular charger. Since this rapid charger reduces the time required to fully charge a battery to about one-third the time required using the regular charger, one can get much more done.

As the owner of multiple Ryobi One Plus tools that use the 18 volt rechargeable batteries, I am always on the lookout for speeding up the charging time that is required after they become fully discharged. I am still waiting but the technology for rapidly charging their 40 volt batteries is here! The rapid charger has consistently fully charged in an hour or less. This is especially handy as some of the 40 volt tools use up the battery very quickly as in my new chainsaw.

The RYOBI 40-Volt Lithium-Ion Rapid Charger Model # OP406A is a new addition to the already popular RYOBI Brand. Charge time varies depending on the amp hour capacity of the battery pack. Batteries are sold separately and all RYOBI 40-Volt batteries are compatible with this charger. My battery is a 4 AH and with that battery almost fully depleted it took nearly an hour to fully charge. The battery gets warm during charging and that’s normal. There is a cooling fan incorporated in this charger and you’ll hear it running during the charging cycle. Be sure to keep the cooling vents on both sides of the charger clear during charging. RYOBI supports this product with a 3 Year Limited Warranty.

Ryobi products are well built and I have been fortunate to have had other tools from them in the past. With my battery chain saw I knew Ryobi would not disappoint. And their rapid charger was equally well built and did it’s job flawlessly. The battery with the chainsaw was partially charged, but I slid it onto the charger for less than an hour and I was good to go with cutting limbs off of three of my trees. Power never ran out, but nice to know I could quickly recharge if necessary.
Charger comes with a limited three year warranty. Clear LED lights display the charge status. Even has keyhole hangers built into bottom should you need to hang on a wall or pegboard.

Seeds Review
This charger was tossed in with the cordless chainsaw I got from the Seeds program. Thanks, Ryobi !!! The chainsaw came with its own little charger that would have taken quite a while to do the honking big 4-amp battery of the chainsaw. The quick charger made short work of it. Has a cooling fan for itself but not the battery, but that doesn't seem to be an issue, the battery sheds heat well enough by itself. The limitation of the regular charger is its power supply. This is definitely a useful accessory for tools that use the bigger batteries.

Fast Charger
This charger really makes a difference in the speed that a battery charges. The small "clip it to the battery" charger takes a lot longer to bring a flat battery up to full charge than this one. If you are using a Ryobi product like a chainsaw that rapidly depletes the battery charge this charger will make a big difference in how fast you can go back to work. It has fan cooling and checks the battery for high or low temperature.
