Recommend, but…
It’s difficult to get on, and near impossible to get it off. I like the way the two shield pieces fit together, and it’s solid once it’s on, but in order to remove the thing, I had to squeeze the spring release lever at the same time as prying the thing off with a screwdriver, which isn’t easy. I don’t really understand why it’s so hard to remove.

Fits Ridgid and Ryobi perfectly, wish guard itself was metal
Angle Grinder Cutting and Grinding Guard Kit- This is a very simple to install kit that does not require any tools to install, that being said I wasted a good 10 minutes installing a part that should have taken 15 seconds, I could not figure out how to get the guard to attach, it ended up being me trying to install it upside down, if you look at my pictures you will see the right way to install it. This kit comes with all pieces of the guard you will need to install this on a Ryobi or Ridgid cordless grinder. Once installed it will deflect chips, sparks and debris when using this as a cut off machine, you will need ot remove it when using wire wheels etc. The guard can be easily removed, but here is what I decided to di, since the kit comes with a complete fence guard. I am simply removing the entire guard as one piece when not needed, and installing the guard the machine comes with. This way I will not lose any parts and there is no concern or breaking the assembly. The only down side is that the guard itself is plastic, it would have been nice to have it in metal for durability.

Angle grinder guards
These are pretty nice products to help stay safe and productive with ease of moving the guards with simple and fast repositioning locks. These are made of some type of plastic so only time will tell if they can handle heavy grinding where they will get very hot, but the good thing about plastic is it’s lightweight so there’s that much less fatigue.

Ryobi Cutting Guards
You never have enough protection when using power tools, yhe more the better. These guards help to protect your fingers and hands and other limbs. Anytime you use power tools remember the tool is the boss, always treat them with respect. These guards help to cover the whole ginding wheel, which gives more protecction. I use my grinder mostly for cutting pipes and bolts. It works very well.

Provides more protection than the standard guard
I ordered a cutting blade and this new cutting guard so I can use my Ryobi One+ PCL445B Angle Grinder for cutting metal. This tool feels quite powerful and cuts through rebar or a metal fence post quite easily. The cuts each required less than a minute. It is much faster and easier than using a hacksaw. The guard that came with the tool was designed for grinding and does not cover the outside of the blade. This new guard protects both the inside and the outside of the blade so it is safer for cutting. However, it only covers about 50% of the circumference so careful attention and caution is still required. The guard comes in 2 pieces so I was expecting something like the blade guard on my circular saw. I thought that the outer part of the guard would rest on the piece moving as I made the cut to expose as little of the blade as possible. However, both sides of this guard kit are rigidly held together so they only cover half of the blade. The inside piece slips over the tabs in the tool. The outside piece of the guard rotates into place and snaps onto the inside part. Together they can be rotated into about 8 different positions by depressing the spring-loaded lever. However, the two parts are held rigidly together. They do not rotate independently. Also, they are positioned fairly close to the blade so you have to at least partially remove the outer part of the guard to create enough space to remove or replace the cutting blade.

safety first
The Ryobi angle grinder cutting and grinding kit is a safety option I wanted to have on my cordless Ryobi angle grinder. I have had my Ryobi angle quite awhile now and have not had any problems with it. When I cut metal I use the type 27 discs and now I can use type one cutting discs too. The kit guards are very well made and are easy to attach to the grinder. Very happy to have these angle grinder guards to use now with my Ryobi angle grinder.

Great for Safety
Perfect fit for my Ryobi AG4031 angle grinder. I insist on doing things safely in my shop and other than a safety shield this will come in very handy. I am a woodworker but at times need to cut some metal, and I will not rush and cut things in an unsafe manner. Sparks flying around is not a good idea so anything that will control the direction of the spray is what I look for. My other grinder has a cover but not to the degree of this one. For the money , saving my eyesight is number one.

Yes, Kit fits Ridgid Octane 4-1/2” R86042
I purchased for my 4-1/2” Ridgid Octane, specifically for the type-1 cutting guard. The Ryobi type-1 cutting guard was conveniently not for sale on the ordertree. I was able to confirm test fit on my Ryobi PBLAG01 beforehand. Unsurprisingly, Ryobi quick locknut fits Ridgid too.
The Ryobi type-1 cutting guard actually slides over type-27 grinding guard that locks onto tool. Great design as you don’t have to remove and replace type-27 with independent type-1 guard saving time between tasks.

Works perfect
This angle grinder cutting cover with protector/guard fits perfectly to my Ridgid cordless 4-1/2 inch grinder. The cover has the function as the original that came with the grinder with the push lock to rotate the cover around as needed to direct grinding splash. The guard goes over the grinder cover which helps to contain grinding splashes when grinding metal. I have not try it with other materials yet but I would think it would have similar functions. So far it works perfect and let's see how long this kit will last.

Perfect fitting replacements
• These two parts—a wheel guard and a guard insert--are considered “consumables” by Ryobi. And although I use my P423 angle grinder 95% of the time as a cut-off tool, I have an admission to make. The first time I used it was as a grinder and I set the guard insert aside. After that, most of my uses have been as a cut-off tool and I did so without the guard insert in place. I must have skipped over that section on the owner’s manual. Consequently, I now have two “new” guard inserts. The only difference is that the newer insert has RYOBI emblazoned on the top of the insert. They are made of some type of high-strength plastic composite.
• Although I always use safety glasses with the tool, it is much more comfortable to use the tool with the insert in place to contain the sparks. The guard insert could use one improvement: that being to have the insert come straight across instead of being cut out for access to the disc removal nut. It is easy to remove the insert to change discs so nut access would not be an issue.
• The wheel guard is made of aluminum except for the release lever and spring which are steel. Mine has held up well but is showing signs of wear and the interior finish is worn off. Again, the new one has added the RYOBI name on the guard and is finished in black instead of the bead blasted finish on the original one. It has the same easy to adjust feature as the old one which allows one to rotate the guard as required for best access to the work piece.
• The parts are made in the PRC. The part number on the box is A01CWG but a search of the HD and Ryobi websites and the internet did not turn up a match on 07.06.22.
