Q:Can I use a 400 watt portable solar panel from ecoflow to recharge instead of the 60 watt one?
by|Dec 2, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Hello, Tyler - Thank you for your question. No sorry, you would not be able to use the unit while solar is charging the batteries. There is only one 60w port to plug in a solar panel. You should be able to use any brand of solar panel as long as it has a port to output power to the generator via the USB C port labeled 60w on the front of the unit. I hope this helps! Additionally, if you need further support, then a RYOBI Customer Experience Professional is here for you, Monday - Friday from 9 am to 6 pm (EST) when you call or text us at 1.800.525.2579 or through email when you visit us at https://www.ryobitools.com/support/contact. Q:Can this be run in parallel with any brand inverter generator or is it Ryobi only?
    by|Nov 25, 2023

    Answer This Question

A:  Hello, Mech - Thank you for your question. Yes. This is compatible with all parallel capable Ryobi inverters (used together). Compatible with most inverter generators. It should work, as long as the connection match, when using other brands. I hope this helps! The battery is the weak point - not reliable.
I have had this unit 18 months - it came with two different 6ah battery models. Four batteries total. Used it two or three times and recharged once a week to keep it topped off. The two larger 6ah batteries are both displaying an error on the inverter. LED one and three as an error code. These batteries are currently $219 and this battery model number is not on the ryobi website. Just spent 105 minutes waiting for support hearing how great the batteries are - never again.

This works great! Since I have so many Ryobi batteries all ready this was a no brainer to purchase. I now have the security I need to face any power disruptions without losing everything in my refrigerator and freezers. It can also run my heating system so that my family doesn’t freeze! Everyone should have at least one of these.

                Disappointed, no runtime.
I had waited months before purchasing this inverter. Hoped it would bridge the gap between my gas generator and vehicle inverter. Already had 2 9ah and handful of 4 ah batteries, as well as 25 plus ryobi tools. I still purchased the inverter that came with 4 6ah figuring it would use a lot of battery power, this unit would not start or run a 15 amp circular saw or table saw even with all batteries full. Would run a heater 12.5 amp for about 12 minutes.poor runtime. Charging is slow.expensive.

This is a pretty good unit for the money, but I wish I would have known that it is incapable of charging and running the inverter at the same time. I was hoping to extend the runtime with a solar panel in the USB-C port but it isn’t capable of doing that. Everything else about it is pretty good - detailed wattage output display, phone control, charging.

Works great! Used it to power some Halloween decoration for Trunk or Treat. Need to be sure to tamper expectations for how much power you need and how much power each of your batteries hold. Once you know that though works as expected. The included batteries were a great deal considering how much they normally cost alone.

                      Excellent but!
So far so good. I have had the power station for about a month now. All seems to be working as advertised. I had four 4Ah batteries and bought four more during the Black Friday sales. For fun, I tried starting my snow blower with it and that worked OK. My next challenge is to connect it to my existing 100 Watt solar panel. It is not Ryobi so I am having some difficulty confirming I am doing it right.

                        It's NOT a generator!
It cannot generate electricity. It's an inverter. Now as a fancy backup power supply, it's nice. Little pricy but it does come with 4 6ah batteries. Great for limited powering of smaller appliances for a limited time but eventually you WILL run out of charged batteries. It's not a replacement for an actual generator. Handy to have around for portable 120v power when cordless won't due but you don't want to unwind that 200ft extension cord either.

I was unhappy that I cannot charge the generator while using it at the same time. The rate to charge the batteries is too slow. The 60-watt input does not cut it.

Love being able to use my Ryobi 18v batteries. As a test, unplugged my full sized freezer from the wall, plugged it into the Ryobi, and was able to run it without problem.
