String Constantly Tangles
My Fiancee purchased this at the end of last season and we sadly cannot return it. All he does is stop and untangle the cord. After two attempts at trimming I've convinced him let's go buy something else...

Is a defective tool
I have used this twice and it is upside down fixing the string more than I am wacking. The string gets twisted under the head constantly and too much string comes out. The auto feeding system is awful. I have used it a collective total of maybe 10-15 minutes and the string is gone and I'm trimming grassy, mulched areas, not anything that would eat this much string this fast...this machine is not great, I'm not a fan. I will be returning it.

Auto-feed string trimmers are designed to release about a ¼ in. of the line every time the trimmer's trigger is released. And if a user squeezes and releases the trigger continuously, then more and more line will advance, which can lead to wasted line or tangles. So we encourage you to be mindful of this and avoid repeatedly squeezing and releasing the trigger. Hopefully, this will help. But let's talk further and see if there's more we can do for you. It is totally a terrible and defective machine. I need to return it.
Just received it today but I feel very disappointed it after having a try in my yard. The string continually gets twisted, almost every 10 seconds. The auto feeding system is also terrible. By arbitrary advancing the line along with the forever twisting, the built-in string has gone within 10 minutes even though nearly none of mow in my yard has been cutted. It is totally a terrible and defective machine. I need to return it.

This Ryobi 18 volt String Trimmer is a wonderful addition to my tool shed! The instructions were thorough, detailed and easy to read. Assembly was also basically simple. The first product came with a faulty battery, but the Ryobi company quickly sent us a replacement unit and it works fine now. The fact that it is cordless and lightweight makes it easy to use. I also enjoy the Adjustable Cutting Diameter from 11 inches to 13 inches.

This Ryobi string trimmer is absolutely the very best one I have ever used or owned. It cuts very efficiently and cleanly, and has great run time on each charge. The variable speed feature and auto feed feature for the string makes for comfortable and easy use. I have even used it successfully as a “cheater” and have done some light edging with it. Like all of the other Ryobi products we own this trimmer is a real winner. I would recommend this string trimmer to anyone

When I first put this trimmer together, I wasn't sure I was going to like it. It is so long, and doesn't adjust in length - you can move the handle some. But, after using it, I know I am going to love it. We have snow on the ground, so not the best condition for cutting weeds, and the weeds and grass are dry, so do cut different than they will in the warm weather. However, I can tell that this is going to be a great tool for me. I have a farm in rattlesnake country, so do try to keep the weeds and grass down around my yard as much as time permits. This will be so much easier than dragging a 100 ft cord along with me like I've had to do until getting this one.

I got this for my son. It is winter and with no snow on the grass we tested it to make sure everything works. Very easy to use. Much better using Ryobi than manually bending down to cut the edges.
No oil, gas and cord. Just need to charge the battery. Also this is an edger as well as a trimmer.
Only negative is if you do not have an attached garage or heated garage, you must store the battery and charger in doors. You will read how to take care of the battery and charger in the booklet that comes inside the box.

Nice cordless trimmer to use on our small front yard. It's another tool that I have to use with the 18 Volt Ryobi cordless tool system. The assembly was very easy. All it needs is four screws to attach the cutter head and two screws to attach the metal shaft of the tool. A phillips screwdriver will be needed for assembly. The trimmer is light weight and works great. I like the feature of changing the cutter head from vertical to horizontal trimming with the push of a button. Nice job Ryobi.
