    Q:Have 1/4? wide groove and about 1/4? depth groove that the staples need to go down into to staple fabric. Will the stapler head fit down in this groove and the staples be flush tight to the wood ?

The P360 has a mximum fastener size of 1-1/2 in. and a minimum fastener size of 3/8 in. It also has a staple crown size of 1.5 in.  The P317 has a mximum fastener size of  9/16 in. and a minimum fastener size of 1/4 in.           My Favorite Tool

                  Doesn't sink nails all the way down
                  Dial on the back all the way up,depth at maximum and still doesn't sink nails all the way down ,brand new. Every third nail is ok,hit or miss Not sure is it maybe included battery(fully charged) insufficient or something else but not happy . I bought couple month ago also Ryobi 18Ga nailer and i was super satisfied. This time with stapler very disappointed.

                    Great tool
