Very Good Cordless Edger
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this Ryobi edger to replace an old one that I had for a few years. This one has the two wheels instead of just one like the old one which make it easier to run along the edge by the street. It has a heavier blade and a better adjustment for the depth and work much better. It's also easier to use so I recommend this for anyone wanting a good cordless edger.

I'm really loving this edger. All my other tools...
I'm really loving this edger. All my other tools are Ryobi so being able to swap the battery is great. It is a battery powered edger so I obviously wasn't expecting something super powerful but I am only using it at home. If I was running a lawn maintenance business I would probably want something else but this is more than enough for my home use and my lawn is looking great.

Better Than Expected
Very easy to handle, and for the most part edges at a regular walking speed. I have a large circular drive and always finish on one 2Ah battery. But I did follow the advice of another reviewer, not to attempt to cut to deep.

Fried Motor
Made it about 18 inches before the motor fried. Tried several new batteries just to make sure. Won’t start up anymore.

Excellent For Tough Thick Grass!
Was concerned about using metal blade due to irrigation. But after one use-am glad we got it! Prior combination trimmer/edgers took (2) 4amh batteries to do the job and plastic blades/string…This edger only used ½ of a 4amh battery and is quiet. Much of our edging is along cement sidewalks/curbs and of very thick grass/weeds/stolens. It takes a toll on plastic/string and due to vibration-the shield. Our edging results are similar to the other pictures, so will show some images of blade depth-but angle is hard to duplicate. Opinion: Not much difference between depth levels 1-4. Level 1 is deepest…level 4 shallowest. Tilted the unit back on large wheel to guide the depth level further. If "knicks" cement-not much "kick-back”/blade impact. Once cut power-blade may rotate to a stop-be careful. Comes with “wrench-tool” to change blade. Already have the batteries. Still need a trimmer. Once have used it more -may add to the review….

bought this style egder since I got tired of using the string weed Wacker as a edger and I must say it's worth it . battery life wasn't a issue . great outcome

simply amazing
Purchased this fully expecting to return it. I have probably 20-25 Ryobi 18v tools. Love them all, but i expected that the d constant presure on the battery from an edger would cause the battery to go down quickly. I was able to edge about 300 feet if sidewalk with one 4amp battery. I hadnt edged the side walk in probably 5 years. It did a great job and for $79 you cant gor wring!

I should have began my RYOBI Yard tool collection with this item....It saves on weedeater line against cement walkways. Lightweight and powerful to put the edges where they are needed....I am 65 years old and can handle these RYOBI battery operated yard tools just fine.
Thank you RYOBI, for thinking of us women who have to do things themselves and for making life a lot easier on us

I see a lot of reviews complaining about battery life. I would highly recommend the Ryobi 4Ah battery instead of the tiny one that comes with it. The battery still had 2 bars left when I finished my front lawn. At the price point of this tool, what's an extra few bucks for a battery that isn't going to run out after 30 feet of sidewalk?

Nice product if you didn’t have to charge it NUMEROUS times to complete lawn
I was excited to find what I felt was a good value on a rechargeable battery operated edger. Out of box, it was easy to assemble. Imagine my surprise when, after fully charging the battery, I was able to edge about 1/10th of my yard! My partner and I were shocked. So, charged it again...again...another 1/10th completed! Yes, my yard had been edged recently by a lawn care company so it wasn’t a first edge. Also, I did adjust so it didn’t have to work hard. Can you imagine an entire day dedicated JUST to complete a yard edging?!?! ....because that’s what it will take if I use this edger. Having a corner lot, there is no way I can keep this edger or I’ll have to quit my day job just to complete my yard! I am going to return ASAP.
