Has never completed a single project without breaking
I got this at the end of last year, supremely excited that I could finally retire my 3/8inch drive air ratchet as it was a total pain to gas up my air compressor for small jobs. January I used it for the first time, it worked great for about 5 minutes, then the head point blank refused to apply any torque, it would just vibrate back and fourth and not tighten or loosen a nut or any fastener. After fiddling with it for a little bit, it would start to work, but only intermittently. I sadly set the tool aside and reached for the trusty old Craftsman ratchet and finished the job by hand and forgot about the tool. April comes around, new car projects start to pop up, and I reach for this tool again forgetting about its broken head, once again it works for about 5 minutes then starts to slip really badly, forcing me to finish my job with hand tools again. I decide to take it in to my local Home Depot for service in mid-April, its under warranty so it should be in and out quick for a simple repair. June 4th rolls around, and my local Home Depot calls saying the tool is fixed and I can come get it! Well, I hope it was worth waiting over a month and a half to have it fixed. Upon my pickup I find the case wasn't sealed properly (see attached image). Well, so far my faith in Home Depots ability to do a simple tool repair is... lack luster at best. I return home, test the tool out and it appears to work, calling Ryobi netted me no help other than "take it back and see if they can fix it for you really quick." I decided to just live with it for the weekend as I had another automotive project and this tool was 100% needed for it. Cue 91 degree weather here in beautiful Michigan, a trip to the junk yard and pulling a replacement door for one of my vehicles. My Ryobi electric ratchet at my side there to help pull the many fasteners required and to help take some work off of my shoulders with how hot it was outdoors. I cracked the first bolt loose and it spun it out no problem, cracked the 2nd one loose, and... The head does the same it did pre-45day repair process. Luckily, I had a ratchet set with me in the junk yard, so I went back to hand tools, set the Ryobi aside and just huffed the rest of the project by hand, once again. Now, here I am; stupendously disappointed in this tool. It has never finished a project, and the warranty repair process was slow and lacked any form of communication until it was completed. For reference, here is my list of owned Ryobi Tools; 7 - 18v Batteries (various Amperages) 18v Impact driver 18v Drill 18v Circular Saw 18v Brushless lawn trimmer 18v 200CFM leaf blower 18v Jig Saw 18v Reciprocating Saw Corded Palm sander 18v Hot Glue Gun 18v Digital tire inflator Wet Tile saw Drill Press Bench top Band Saw 6 inch Bench Grinder 18v Portable wet/dry vac 18v Grinder 18v Hand utility vacuum 18v Dual action palm sander 18v/AC utility light 2 18v Routers To add fuel to my fire of disappointment, I worked with Ryobi over the phone while I waited for my first tool repair, they told me the tool has to be in repair for 4 months before they even consider replacement, and the first representative really sounded very uninterested in doing anything to try and help, even when I asked for a supervisor their reply was "why?" Is this a sign of times to come with my Ryobi tools? I am shopping a replacement for my Trusty Honda powered lawnmower, and I really was considering buying a Ryobi 40v, despite that it requires different batteries and chargers, just for brand loyalty. But after this experience, and noticing multiple Ryobi Mowers in for repair at my Home Depot, im now hesitant to give any more of my money to this brand. Furthermore, All of this back and fourth, for a tool that retails at $80, $80 this company is going to lose a customer over. There is no way I even know if I just got a one off bad tool, because they point blank refuse to replace it. Im lost, I can't any help with something so simple. Ryobi has gone and pushed me where it hurts; my love for wrenching.

    Comfortable grip.
Bought this when they were first offered on line last fall to keep from having to run an air hose. It has a comfortable grip and plenty of power to do the job. Bought the 3/8” unit at the same time. Didn’t come with any accessories but I have plenty of batteries and chargers from other tools and built a box to hold both units.

Another winner in the Ryobi 18v lineup! This 1/4 inch ratchet is incredibly handy for working with smaller nuts and bolts, and has made getting into tight spaces in engine compartments of cars much easier. Many times I can get a ratchet onto a bolt, but there just isnt room to turn the ratchet. This helps immensely with that. While the power is less than what I originally expected, it is more than capable for bolts requiring a 1/4 inch drive socket. I reall appreciate the ability to rotate the head, which makes getting into tight areas easier. Also, the light can be very handy when reaching down into a cramped engine compartment. The paddle switch has a lock out to keep it from being activated, but is easily turned off with the flip of a small switch near the paddle. That means you dont have to activate the lockout each time you turn it on, but rather once before use. I am a bit disappointed though, as the ratchet is supposed to have a belt clip to hang it from your pants or belt. The instructions show how to install the belt clip but I couldnt find it in the box. After looking over the instructions carefully, I found the fine print that said it is an option and is not included. Nor was the socket extension or adapter included, even though the ratchet has the place to store them built into the handle. Come on Ryobi, you left out the 10 cent piece of metal that is the belt clip, and a 25 cent adapter? I understand cost saving measures for manufacturers, but Ryobi has always been great about having those items in the box for all their other tools such as drills. I removed 1 star due to this omission. It would have been a half star, but that wasnt an option. Overall, I like the ratchet very much. I just wish Ryobi had not chosen to cheap out in the accessories that they have historically included. I hope that isnt a sign of things to come, especially after raising their prices this year.

    1/4" Ratchet Driver 18 volts
I've had this ratchet for about a month and I love it. I repair old retro chairs and furniture and this ratchet tool makes the job go much faster.

This is a very handy tool to have around 18 volt ratchet wrench, no cords or hoses just the tool and it's battery. I have 4 ah battery's and the tool will go all day when working with retro chairs and equipment. Very light and easy to handle. Very nice to have this ratchet for all small nuts and bolts, just be careful not to over tighten the nuts as they will snap off.

Overall, I am pleased with this tool. It has a good amount of torque to install and remove nuts/bolts. The lights on the front do a great job of lighting up the work space. The swivel head makes it easy to get into a tight spots. But my biggest complaint is given how far the batter holder sticks out, it is really tough to get the socket onto nut/bolt because it hits works surface (see picture below). This isn't an issue when not using it next to a flat surface, but on a flat surface it hard. You can move the head to a different position but then the trigger is much harder to operate. As I opened with, a good quality tool which comes up short in one design area.

This is a well built cordless ratchet. Ryobi states that this ratchet is “for precision fastening applications” – the anvil and head are very compact but otherwise it’s too large and heavy for that - 13-3/16” tall and 3 lbs 4 oz with a small 1.5Ah battery. Although heavy, it's well balanced - its center of gravity with the 1.5Ah battery is roughly the paddle trigger button. Designed around the existing Ryobi ONE+ battery system (a battery is not included) - the ONE+ system is too bulky for a 1/4" ratchet - the 4 position rotating head sometimes can solve the problem of accessing fasteners without the bulky battery getting in the way – but in tight places, you spend time figuring out how to get the bulky battery out of the way. The “barrel” at the paddle switch is 1.5” wide, you palm the barrel between your thumb and fingers to position the ratchet. The paddle prevents you from wrapping your hand around the barrel. The bottom of the battery gives you a stable place to put the tool down. The lock out switch near the end of the paddle is a good idea – prevents the paddle switch from turning when thrown around in your tool bag

The ryobi 18 volt 1/4 inch electric ratchet works great. I unbolted the head bolts on a old 5 horse power chipper motor. I really didn't think it would do it. I thought that the battery would get in the way, but with the 4 position head you can really get at different places. Im a mechanic and I have tried different air and electric ratchets, this one is really good.

y really like the weight of this 1/4" drive ratchet. Since I have somewhat of a small hand, I like the style as it does fit my hand quite well. There is a lock out that is suggest to lock out every time a battery is changed or even changing the position of the ratchet head. No battery or charger comes with this tool, but all my battery tools are Ryobi. It is Variable speed with two bright LED lamps in the head of ratchet that appear to be focused on the work area. It is not intended to be a torque wrench. I recommend this tool. Seems to be good value for the price!

I like the rotation of the head and the led lights to get in to tight spaces. The switch for lock / unlock is nice when it is in a bag so it won’t run. Using a smaller battery this tool is light weight the paddle trigger is a nice touch and has a variable speed. The accessory holder is nice to keep a extra extension or other tool. Being a 1/4” drive ratchet this is nice to work on small projects and small bolts.
