Q:It hurts my wrists and they become inflamed where I can barely move my fingers if I pull weeds, rake, shovel, hoe, etc. My yard is completely over run by puncture weeds. Will this tool be my answer to get rid of the weeds without hurting my hands?

This delivers!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very rarely do you come across a tool that lives up to all its claims. This tool is different! Easy assembly, lightweight, and ferocious when it comes to weeds. This tool has definitely helped me continue gardening, even with my back issues.

Another Innovation from Ryobi for Yard Work.
When I saw this new product, I knew I needed it. It’s Spring here in Texas and the weeds are back in force; I also have a garden to get ready and lawn patches to reseed. This hoe makes weed removal and cultivation a snap! Using a regular weeding hoe, or just a regular hoe, can be back breaking work and in the heat is a miserable job; this cultivator garden hoe from Ryobi is a game changer. I used it first to scrape a patch of lawn to prepare it for being repaired; I knew immediately it was exactly the garden tool I needed; it even helped to mix the amendment soil into the existing earth with ease. I then used it to remove weeds along my patio and fence and again it made a hard job easy. Finally, I used it to turn a patch of dirt for my garden which it did with extreme ease. All told, it took a two hour job and made it into a thirty minute job. This tool is a beast!
There was some assembly of the tool required: this took less than 10 minutes and all the tools needed were included in the box. The tool is bottom-heavy, which makes it easier to use but can feel a little strange at first; the weight really helps to keep the blade down once you start to use it and also relieves some of the strain of holing a top heavy tool. The tool does tend to ‘dance’ (bounce around) until it finally bites into hard soil but once it does it is smooth. The kit came with a charger and a 2 Ah battery which has enough juice to do the tasks I put it to with no problem, and if you are invested in the RYOBI tool line your batteries will work here tool. If you find yourself using a hoe during the course of the year you should seriously consider getting this; it will be money well spent. Highly recommended.

Genius Tool Design
The line of Ryobi 18v tools keep growing. With that said, I must say that I hate using a manual hoe, so this battery powered hoe is the best idea I have seen in a while.
This Ryobi set has all you need in the box. It has an 18v 2ah battery and charger. It comes unassembled but the assembly is pretty easy. It comes with the necessary tools to put together.
There are a few screws to use to connect the top piece to the bottom. The handle has one bolt with a wingnut. Then you have to put the hoe attachment in place with a bolt. All in all, it took about 15 minutes to assemble.
After the battery is charged, simply flip on the switch and the hoe engages. My raised bed garden was overgrown with weeds. I used the Ryobi hoe and it took up weeds in no time.
What I like best is the action of the hoe. It pulled the weeds up from the soil without digging deep. The hoe blade is not just straight but looks like it has a half dozen teeth on each side. This gives it a good grabbing action.
I would recommend this hoe for any person who works in a small garden or flowerbeds.

Works Like a Charm
I got this Ryobi One + 18 Volt Cordless Garden Hoe just in time to help start up my summer lawn after being dormant all winter long. I had tons of weeds about 3 inches high that would have taken me hours to remove by getting on my knees and pulling them out by hand. The weeds were short enough that this hoe did pull the weeds out without cutting off at the roots. I was amazed with the 2 amp battery, after using the hoe for about 25 minutes, the battery still had 3 out of 4 bars of power left in it ! The hoe seems to be very well made and it only took a few minutes to assemble it out of the box. At only 8.45 lbs it does not wear me out and cause my lower back to hurt using it like the gas powered weed eater does. The 6 .5 inch blade is a perfect size to cut any size of weeds. The only thing that I did not care for was it came with a plastic wing nut and a metal bolt to tighten up the handle. The plastic wing nut stripped out and fell off on the first time I used it. I replaced it with a metal nylon lock nut and now it does not loosen up. So, overall I really like this hoe as it works like a charm and gets those weeds out !

Great gardening, helper, a cordless hoe
This is a great idea, a cordless gardening hoe. I’m able to do about four times as much garden hoeing as before in 130 amount of time since there’s no cord it’s not necessary for me to keep replug and get in at several outlets around the house as I’m going from garden bed to garden bed. I can also use the battery for other tools that I use that are cordless also. It works really well. It kills the soil to make room for nutrients from the fertilizer to get in past the weeds, it’s very lightweight and easy to hold.
