Very loud little box

Good and bad, but I'm taking it back. This is a neat looking radio. It is very basic, which is what I wanted and it's practical if you already have the battery it takes (also takes 2-AAA for clock). It is obvious Ryobi green and medium in size. The sound is really good; the speaker sends a clean sound with reasonable bass. I don't know how many volume settings it has, but 10 is the highest it goes without starting to distort and it goes up more than 15. I work with one other guy, so we don't turn it up much more than level 5 or so. It's good to use outside when washing the car or gardening.
On the other hand, the handle is awkward and I mean very awkward. You can only get the tips of your fingers into the overhang lip in back they give you and then the radio doesn't hang totally upright. Also, the antenna is in the way of holding it if extended. So you can't walk around or take a stroll on the beach with it because your fingers will get tired of holding it. Would have been a better design to give a real handle on top (maybe that folds down in back) that you can put your hand around or get anything around it so you could put a strap on it or something. This has nothing to do with the operation of the radio, but it is a huge negative because it's just not easy to pick up and easy to drop and you can't manage any other thing in your hand or arm while holding it. If you are not going to move it, then it's a great radio for you. If you're moving it to job sites or moving it around during a day, then it might not be. I got it to to use during power outages, but I also wanted to take it to work (home renovation). It's good for the former and not good for the latter. I'd rather have a radio I can easily pick up and move, or take a walk or camping without worrying about dropping it. The handle is the only reason I'm not keeping it.

Awesome little radio / speaker
