This is the second time that Ryobi failed me
My reciprocating saw Model P519 started smoking while cutting a hole for new door. It stopped working halfway. My warranty expired and can't get it fixed. Likewise, my circular saw from Ryobi also smoked and had it repaired while it was under warranty. I think Ryobi should offer better warranty by extending the time.

            Awesome tool!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just purchased and it came with a free battery and charger. Nice and light and easy to use. Exactly what I need for trimming shrubs, etc...

Reciprocating saw is comfortable to use, cut well, and has good battery life
This saw feels solidly put together, though not quite so bulletproof as my previous corded reciprocating saw. That was more than made up for by its cordless capabilities, which allowed me to more easily de-limb downed trees – it was ideal for the ¾” to 2” diameter limbs that were too big for loppers and for which the chainsaw was overkill! A toolless quick-release mechanism for blade changes worked well, but I did note a fair amount of side-to-side movement of the blade when the saw was not under load. Weight and balance seemed OK, either with or without a battery pack installed, though the saw would not sit upright, only laying on one side or the other. (For reference, I used a 4 AH ONE+ 18V battery, sold separately.) In my initial use, I made about 30 cuts and the battery continued to display a full charge indication. The saw has ample rubberized grip and holding surfaces, and a variable speed trigger with lockout switch and up to 3400 one-inch (25mm) strokes per minute. A 6” wood cutting blade is included, and other lengths and specialty blades are available. There is a noticeable amount of vibration during use, though a pivoting shoe helps brace the saw against the workpiece. The manufacturer offers a 3-year warranty that requires presenting the purchase receipt if service is required. (This has been a problem for me in the past with misplaced receipts or items received as gifts.)

You Need to Consider This Sawzall
The new Ryobi Reciprocating Saw (commonly called a sawzall) should be considered whether you are looking for a replacement or you are buying you first one. The reason is that they all have pretty much the same features, but the Ryobi is much lighter than it's competitors. And when you are doing a lot of cutting with the saw, the weight makes a big difference. The features of the Ryobi that I really like, other than the lighter weight, are the rubber grips so you had does not slip off, the trigger locking switch, which is a must for safety and carrying the saw, the VERY easy blade loading and unloading feature, and the pivoting shoe on the end. Operation of the saw is easy but if you don't do it correctly, it will feel as if you arm is being vibrated off. Keeping the material tightly against the shoe will eliminate most of the vibrating. Because I am a big Ryobi fan, I have multiple 18+ volt batteries and chargers. This saw does not include a battery or charger, so you will need to purchase that separately if you do not have one. Other manufacturers do include a battery and charger but the price is a few dollars more than the Ryobi. Because I have so many Ryobi tools, and I like the Ryobi quality, this reciprocating saw was a no-brainer for me to add to my tool line. It is a tool that I will not use that often, but when I need it, nothing can replace it to make my task easy.

                Works as expected
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For fast cutting…this is the perfect tool! You need to have one at home

                  Great Features
Ryobi tools are a perfect balance of price and utility for the homeowner. There is no sense paying two to three times as much for a professional-grade tool that is built to be used every day when you are only going to use it once in a while. These Ryobi tools are built quite well, and can be expected to last a homeowner a lifetime. They are also not too heavy. This saw is perfect for lopping-off branches and cutting roots and anything that you don't quite need a chainsaw for. Comes with one general-purpose blade to get you started. If you look at the one picture, you can see there is steel inside the plastic blade lever - it is not going to snap off!

Portable, comfortable, good size and weight, convenient one step quick blade change system, very good performance and results.
This Ryobi 18 volt reciprocating saw is a very nice addition to my battery-operated tools. I have not abandoned all of my corded tools which still come in handy for large projects, but am relying more on the convenience and portability of the battery powered tools. This Ryobi is part of the One+ 18 Volt system that uses the same type of battery. I have other Ryobi One+ tools and already have a charger and several 18V One+ batteries. As such, I only needed to acquire the tool. Once you have the charger and a few 18V One+ batteries all of the 18V One+ tools will operate off of that power base. This reciprocating saw body is about 15 in long from the shoe assembly to the back of the handle (excluding blade length) and about 6 in high from the top of the handle to the battery port (excluding battery). The saw body is fairly lightweight. The saw with my 3Ah battery installed is not as heavy as my corded reciprocal saw. The lock-off button is at the top rear of the handle and easy to use. There is a variable speed operating trigger. The saw fits comfortably in the hands is easy to use and maneuver. The saw accepts all standard reciprocating saw blades. There is a quick release/install blade clamp on the side of the saw body which is really nice and facilitates changing saw blades quickly. The saw seems to perform as well as my corded saw for most basic projects, being limited primarily by the life of the battery charge. Good quality, good price.

Tool Only (8-volt battery not included)
Another Ryobi 18 volt ONE + tool from the arsenal of innovative tools using the same 18-volt batteries. Hurricane Ida left us with much damage and one of the things I needed to do was begin cutting down a privacy fence that has been leaning into our parking lot. The reciprocating saw model # PCL5158 (tool only) lived up to the job. I was able to make all my 23 cuts using the same battery and had the power to spare. Ryobi claims 145 cuts on a full-charged battery, fast cuts up to 3,400 SPM (strokes per minute), and a stroke length of 1 inch which lived up to the claims. The blade is very easy to change with a lever opening the blade holding attachment. Carries a three-year warranty just as all the tools do at Ryobi.

Ryobi Cordless Reciprocating Saw to the Rescue.
My new Ryobi Reciprocating Saw was the perfect tool for cleaning up tree limbs from the recent heavy wet spring snowstorm. Several limbs broke off our 2 maple trees in the front yard. The largest limb was maybe 2 inches in diameter. Using the coarse blade supplied with the Cordless Reciprocating Saw (Tool Only version) I easily cut up a big pile of limbs in about 20 minutes. The variable speed drive was helpful making it easy to cut limbs from 3/8 to 2 inches in diameter. With the handy tool free chuck, I was able to insert the new blade in seconds and get to work cutting my pile of limbs. My fully charged 4Ah battery still had 3 out 4 bars of power shown on the battery when I completed my job. The grip handle was comfortable, and the safety switch was easy to depress with my thumb. I have several Ryobi tools and they never seem to wear out. I would recommend the 18 Volt Cordless Reciprocating Saw to anyone doing wood working, fence building or outdoor clean up work or demolition.
