This Hybrid Drain Auger is unique in that it has Hybrid Technology, meaning it can run off a RYOBI ONE+ battery or electric power with provided power supply. The cordless convenience makes this drain auger one of the most convenient portable drain augers. The reinforced auger cable and powerful motor easily clear clogged drain pipes up to 2 in wide. The innovative chuck design allows you to easily drive the 25 ft. long cable to the clog and break it up, then quickly switch to retract. Good small job tool.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased this to use in sink drains at a nursing home. Don’t expect it to move mountains but in the application Ryobi intended it works good. Spring tip it comes with is a little stiff.

Take. This. Off. The. Market.
This tool makes me want to get rid of ANY & ALL Ryobi tools I have. I also want to stand outside of Home Depot and preach about how terrible Ryobi's products are. THE TOOL FELL DOWN MY VENT SHAFT LIKE THE END OF THE SNAKE WAS NOT CONNECTED AT ALL! I was SO confused, no snap, no give, no resistance.. just poof!? I knew going in, this tool was mediocre at best (Other reviews) but I was going down a relatively STRAIGHT shaft. I honestly want to sell my Ryobi tools. Ridiculous.

Effective tool, 5 Stars!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought it three days ago. Tenant left the drains/pipes clogged so I tried to fix the issue myself with this tool. Worked like a charm! It unclogged the issue drain/pipe, and it was a huge relief. The product paid for itself in the first go. Ten points to Ryobi and thanks for creating this product.

Can't make a turn in standard drain pipe.
The quick change head mechanism is very long and ridged, making it so this drain snake can't make a turn in drain pipe.
So if you're not snaking a straight run or a 4" pipe this drain snake won't get the job done.
The metal in my snake rusted horribly after the first attempted use.

Misleading Description on box
I paid more money for the P4002 because the P4001 just had a plain tip ...
The BOX says cable WITH exchangeable tips .. with an "S" ..... as in more than one !!
They are NOT included
could not use for what I needed ...
and now I would have to spend more money !!!
ALSO : the push / pull front chuck on mine won't lock in the R position

Works awesome
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this because I had a slow shower drain and to go with all the Ryobi tools I have and it worked great on my drain then a couple days ago my dad called and said he was having problems with his septic so I took it with me and went over there and after running it though his drains and it still not going down I decided to try going through the vent pipe out side because I didn't wanna pull the drain plug in basement and get covered and the drain pipe is a 3 or 4 inch so I wasn't sure this would do the job but after running it in about 15bfeet I hit the plug and it dug in it far enough so when I pulled on it it opened up the clog and started running again I did kink the cable in one spot about 6 feet from the end but was able to straighten it back out so it's still good to go

Gets the job done.

Had to take apart all the piping On the first run the cable bent, even though I was running it inside piping of over an inch, there was no reason to jam the cable. The cable was bent and now i cannot unbend it back to normal and the device does not retract past that point. I was still able to shove that cable back to the piping to finish the job and unclog my sink but feel like my manual drain auger has a stronger cable than this device does. Now i am going to have to replace the cable with a new set :(

Made its money back in 1 job
had a complex clog I thought was just a backed up sink. Turns out after I snaked the sink the tub started backing up and this bad boy cracked that too even though I had to force the head down the over flow but once it punched through she was going crazy.
