Anticipate Extended Charge Time
Battery appears to have about a 30mins run time however, the rapid charger utilized for this which says “30 minute charger” is not accurate. For a full charge on the rapid charger my battery is requiring 60 minutes to charge. This prolongs projects so I would recommend an additional battery. Less than ideal but necessary.

Received used batteries
Batteries had clear signs of prior use and no factory packaging. The charger didn't have a user manual. There was also some random power adapter with cut wires in the box.
Seems like someone returned them and Home Depot sold them as new.

Ok but misses mark of original
Not as good as orignal P197 Battery, lacks protective rubber bottom ring.
Ryobi unfornately going cheap like so many others.

Ryobi One + offers a variety of 18V Lithium-ion batteries. This particular 4.0 Ah battery provides up to 3x more runtime than Ryobi’s 1.5 Ah standard lithium-ion battery. This battery features professional grade cells to provide fade free, cord-like power. The integrated LED “fuel gauge” enables you to check the batter charge level at all times.
This battery is part of the RYOBI ONE+ System of over 224 cordless tools that use the same battery platform and is backed by the RYOBI 3-year manufacturer’s warranty. Charger is sold separately or you can purchase a kit which includes battery(s) and charger.
I have used the RYOBI ONE+ system for five years including trimmer, skill saw, blower, impact drill, driver, and oscillating tool. I had three standard 1.5 batteries and they are still performing and charging well. This battery will allow me to complete some of my routine jobs without changing the battery prior to completion.

The Ryobi 18V Lithium-ion 4.0 Ah battery has a runtime that is almost three times the runtime offered by the 1.5 Ah battery. We have several Ryobi tools including a hand sander, drills, leaf blowers, lawn mower, etc. that have lasted for years through countless projects. This battery requires a charger but we have a few of those, too. I included a photo of this battery (on the right) next to a smaller battery, both on chargers we already had. Once you have tools, batteries and chargers, your investment will pay off with long-lasting, high-performance products. Ryobi is definitely our preferred brand. We have batteries that don't have the longer runtime and they are useful for small jobs. This battery is larger and heavier so we use this for projects that take longer, like mowing, and that don't create a situation where the tool gets too heavy in your hand with extended use. I highly recommend Ryobi tools and chargers. The prices are reasonable for the top-notch quality of this brand.

RYOBI ONE+ 18V Lithium-Ion 4.0 Ah Battery review: This small battery does survive the Texas heat - that is a big plus - and inside a lawn mower. I included images showing that I was able to mow about one third of one side of my front yard before the battery expended all its energy. It was used inside a Ryobi 16" wide lawn mower. It seems to last much longer in a string trimmer. It did take a long time to charge in the charger. So far, so good. There ya go!

This review is for the new Ryobi 4 a/h battery - sometimes battery reviews get grouped together so it's good to know up front which battery is being reviewed.
I'm a homeowner/DIY'er, not a professional, so this review comes from that standpoint.
While the new battery fits in any Ryobi One+ tool, I wanted the new battery specifically to run in my string trimmer/edger. The battery is aimed down when the tool is in use and handling is easy. Our suburban lot is not huge (only about 1/3 acre or so) but there's a fair amount of "cut in" to be trimmed around the drive, sidewalks, and flower beds. The extra power of the new 4 a/h battery is welcome, and it's worked very well for me in our recent heat wave. It's very convenient to know that the battery will handle trimming both the front and back yards without having to be swapped out for a freshly charged one. (My Ryobi trimmer has a swiveling head which doubles as an edger, and the edging feature requires a fair amount of available power). The battery is working as advertised, no issues.
If I had a major project on hand - such as assembling a deck or playground set, I wouldn't hesitate to mount the 4.0 battery in my bit driver or Ryobi drill; it offers superior power compared to the standard 1.5 a/h cells (although the
The 4 a/h cell comes with a built-in fuel gauge (something my older Ryobi batteries don’t offer). Fit and finish is excellent and even when using the battery outside in the heat it releases from the string trimmer without any fuss.
There's no charger included with this kit, but the battery charges just fine in my old Ryobi charger.
Ryobi offers a 3-year warranty and there's a 90-day return policy for the battery.
