Waste of money
This was my second Ryobi trimmer. First overheats and stops working until cooled off. Unfortunately this one completely died. I have a dozen Ryobi 18v tools Im very happy with. After two disappointing edgers i’m going to give Toro a chance.

absolutely love this weed eater
Long shaft light weight very strong used it today and it is awesome and the price is great goin to get another to have on hand . 5 stars

ugh
Bought the weed blade attachments and went to work. After 15 minutes the sensitive clutch would cut out the motor and it wouldnt keep running. Turns out grass had gotten wrapped around the drive shaft way up in the plastic cases since the gap is too wide. Ive spent an hout so far trying to dig it out to get running again. Waste of time

Terrible battery
I really can’t see how some customers review this product as good. The device has a good strong motor and a switch for high and low speed. When the weedeater works, it works very well but the battery life is terrible. I have a corner lot and I usually outline my yard before I cut. The battery dies before I finish 2/3 of the yard. Have to stop and recharge the battery four times to finish the yard. Average 10 - 12 minutes of run time each charge. If you have a very small yard, I would recommend. If you have a medium to large yard, stick to a gas trimmer or higher voltage better maker device. Do not recommend this model!!!!!

This is a powerful trimmer/edger. It is still lightweight and battery operated, but it has much more power than the average battery powered trimmer/edger. Putting the edger together was pretty fast and easy. It is easy to grip and hold. You just turn the shaft to make it an edger. It comes with a battery and charger. With a fully charged battery I was able to trim and edge my whole front and back yard.

I really like this trimmer because of all of its various features. First of all, it is pretty lightweight and easy to handle as well as store when it is not in use. Most people should have no problem using it because it is well-balanced and has a front handle to steady it. I had no problem trimming the grass that had started to occupy my garden space. One of the nice features is its ability to tilt sideways, which comes in handy when edging or dealing with grasses in awkward places. A few caveats: (1) When screwing in the grass deflector, screw in each screw only partway before tightening each one. For some reason, I couldn't get all four screws to screw all of the way in unless I approached it this way. (2) The trimmer shaft comes in two pieces; one piece fits inside the other. It only fits one way, though, so you have to keep turning one piece of the shaft to see which way works. Also, BEFORE you insert the shaft, you have to loosen two screws - otherwise you will not be able to insert one end of the shaft into the other. (3) This trimmer does not come with a battery and a charger. HOWEVER, if you have one of the other Ryobi tools that use this type of One+ Battery, it works just fine in this trimmer and will save you from having to buy another one - unless you use all of your tools at one time and can't switch out the batteries.

I have been frustrated with getting my gas powered string trimmer to start off and on. This battery powered unit seems to work well for me. I have always been worried about the battery lasting long enough to complete the job without having to charge it half way through. That is not an issue for me since my yard is small. There is some assembly out of the box but was not difficult. It comes with one battery/charger. I have a Ryobi chainsaw and was hoping the battery interchanged, unfortunately that was not the case. This is definitely lighter and easier to maneuver than my gas powered trimmer. This trimmer has two speeds but there is not a big difference between the two. Seems to have enough power to maintain a regular yard. I have not tried it on anything thick or heavy. The boom can be rotated to turn it into a edger which is nice. One of the things I'm not crazy about is the auto advance on the string. If you take your finger of the trigger for 2 seconds the string advances. I feel like I'm wasting string. That part of the trimmer will take some getting used to since I'm used to a bump feed trimmer. This says if you bump the head it will void the warranty.

The Ryobi ONE+ Cordless String Trimmer feels light to the touch, but it packs the power of a much heavier yard trimmer. This model P20101BTL has the auto-feed feature which eliminates the need to periodically adjust cutting string length. So, I don’t have to bump it—it’s automatic! Now, this particular unit comes without the 18 Volt battery or the charging transformer. Be sure you have these items with one of your other 18 VDC Ryobi tools. The weight and balance of the machine with the 4Ahr Lithium-ion power pack in place seems perfect. I made a vertical trim cut along the roadside curb using the button-press shaft rotation feature without twisting my torso to get the cut just right. The variable speed trigger allows me to make precise trims close to delicate stems of ornamental plants. I like the adjustible cutting width which reduces cutting string consumption and promotes longer battery life.

This review is for the Ryobi ONE+ 18 volt HP lithium-ion cordless brushless string trimmer. It includes a 4.0 amp battery and charger. Upon receipt, I removed the trimmer from the box, read the manual and then assembled it. All you need is a phillips screwdriver. It's real easy to put together and takes about ten minutes. While the included battery was charging I grabbed one of my 1.5 amp ONE+ batteries and put it on the trimmer to give it a quick spin. This trimmer has a head that automatically adjusts the line. Do not try to bump it on the ground. It won't work and may damage the head. I just pulled the on/off lever and the line came out and was cut to the 11 inch diameter length. You can also loosen the screw that holds the cutter and turn it around 180 degrees so that you get a 13 inch diameter cut. This trimmer is light, easy to handle, and simple to use. No mixing gas and trying to start finicky engines. Just make sure your battery is charged and you are ready to go. Another feature of this tool is that there is a large black button on the side of the handle that allows you to swivel the shaft and use the trimmer as an edger. This trimmer uses .080 line and there is only one strand that comes out of the head. My opinion is that this is a light-duty trimmer and it doesn't approach the performance of my trusty gas-powered trimmer but still I am impressed with it. It easily cuts grass, weeds and other softer plants. I did notice that tougher plants like small oak seedlings (8 to 10 inches tall) tended to damage the cutting line immediately. For my testing I used the 4.0 lithium-ion battery and I cut everything in my 1/4 acre yard that I could find that needed trimming and the battery never quit. You can use any 18 volt ONE+ battery that you have. I have lots of them because I have found that the Ryobi ONE+ tool system offers people like me great value and versatility. Once you decide to invest in cordless tools it is a "no brainer" to make sure the batteries are interchangeable among your tools. I like this Ryobi string trimmer. It's perfect for someone that has a smaller area to trim/edge and it's real easy to use. I recommend it to anyone who wants a cordless battery-powered string trimmer .

RYOBI ONE+ 18-Volt HP Lithium-Ion Cordless Attachment Capable Brushless String Trimmer - 4.0 Ah Battery and Charger review: This is a great string trimmer! It cuts extremely well. The batteries last a long time - much better and longer than the 40v version. Gosh, I really like this trimmer - I had no issues using the trimmer to trim my entire yard - front, sides, and back. I only had the string get stuck once and that was easy to reset. I only have one recommendation - replace the plastic cover on the string with something that doesn't wear out after a year. I like these 18v batteries very much - easy to insert and not too difficult to remove - much better than the 40v version. What a great trimmer! There ya go!
