ONE+ HP 18V Brushless 15 in. Attachment Capable String Trimmer with 6.0 Ah Battery and Charger

I’ve tried a few trimmers as of late but was always disappointed with the performance of the smaller gauge string trimmers. The string is used I rather quickly and the protection shields seem to be in the way of seeming your work. This string trimmer is shaped more like the pro gas models with better, more durable “string” (2 of them) and a shield that still lets you see your work. I’m very pleased with the power of the trimmer and performance of the large battery. The big plus for me is that it has interchangeable duty attachments - in my case, I got the edger attachment. The trimmer attachment easily teaches and is quickly replaced by the edger attachment. There are 3 different positions around the pole, 45 degrees from each other that you can affix the attachments so you can get it at just the right working angle. I really like the results of both the trimmer and the edger - all powered by the same powerplant.

I've been maintaining my own landscaping for 40+ years now, and string trimming has always been my least favorite chore. I've owned a variety of trimmers over the years, from 2 and 4 cycle gas models, corded electric, and an early model cordless electric trimmer. While I love the quiet operation and excellent power of my older cordless model, it's weight distribution is odd and, over time, causes operator fatigue. It also cannot accept any of my collection of trimmer attachments. This Ryobi ONE+ HP 18V Brushless 15 in. Attachment Capable String Trimmer with 6.0 Ah Battery and Charger solves all my problems. The brushless motor supplies plenty of power to the head and cuts tall grass with ease. The weight is nicely balanced, and the 6.0 Ah battery provides excellent run time. Operation is a quiet 72 dB, low enough to not require hearing protection. One feature I really love - Ryobi includes a winding tool to make reloading the string easy, often a frustrating job with other trimmers. This trimmer handles all my attachments (brush blade, edger, etc.), and doesn't spew exhaust fumes. I'm very pleased with this trimmer, and highly recommend it!

The nice thing about weed trimmers is that there's not much you need from them. You want them to be well balanced, easy to use, and comfortable for long sessions. This Ryobi ONE hits the mark. It's a split shaft trimmer, which means you can purchase and use other attachments (like a hedge trimmer) without having to buy a separate motor unit. Simply remove the bottom part and attach the new one. Ryobi did a great job designing this so it's easy to do, yet secure. The unit is considered two different tools, as exemplified with separate manuals, and the kit comes with both the trimmer shaft and the motor head, as well as one 18v batter, charger, a quick winding tool, and some extra trimmer line. This trimmer is powerful and can get any job done. If the battery is low, it takes a while for it to get to full RPM, but it still gets the job done, so you can eke out the last few yards without going for another battery. The unit is balanced so much better than any other cordless trimmer I've used and you don't get any wrist/arm fatigue as a result. This is super important with a trimmer, since they all pretty much work the same, you want one that isn't going to wear you out. The only issues I had with this are the trigger, the auto feed, and the fast winder. I'll start with the fast winder. It's a separate piece of plastic that you have to store somewhere and then manually rotate it to load more line (it's not necessary, but makes the task easier). It gets the job done, but I tend to lose things, so I'm a bit concerned about that. Certainly not a reason to ignore this trimmer. The trigger takes some getting used to because there's a secondary trigger built into it for the safety. As someone with carpal tunnel syndrome I'm not a fan of this because it limits the ways I can hold the trigger and the safety at the same time, which increases pressure on my hands. Again, this is more of a personal preference than a flaw, but it's something to consider. The auto feed is a bit sensitive. I've inadvertently tapped the head for more line on several occasions when I was just trying to trim lower to the ground. Overall this is a great trimmer.

This Ryobi 18 volt brushless 15" lithium ion string trimmer has a long life 6.0AH battery and charger included. It is a comfortable weight and handles well. Assembly was easy and instructions simple to follow. It is easy to maneuver and does a nice job of trimming around hedges and garden areas with the variable speed trigger. The trimmer is also adaptable with Expand-it attachments. Good value for a powerful trimmer.

I have several Ryobi products and I love them all. This trimmer is no exception. It is noisy but all trimmers are. It is very sturdy and has very little vibration. It is heavy enough to be stable in my hands but not so much that it is difficult to use. I used it to trim the edge of the lawn and it worked flawlessly and did a good job. It has a three year warranty.

I was reluctant to take a chance on buying a cordless weed eater with only an 18v battery. I was thinking that maybe it would lack power. I was wrong. I have been using a gas powered Ryobi Weedeater for years and have had great luck. This cordless Ryobi did not disappoint. It has enough power to handle the job and the battery lasts for my whole yard. It does have the ability to interchange attachments and the design of the tightening nut is amazing. On my gas powered it is a large wingnut that you tighten as hard as you can twist. This one has a different mechanism that allows it to tighten quicker and better. It is a great design. The 6ah 18v battery lasts a while and charges fairly quickly. It comes with one battery and charger. The string is a .080 and you can purchase pre-measured string packs. These make it easy to know how much string to spool. The head is a bump and feed which works well. It is easy to string and then easy to feed when weedeating. Out of the box, assembly takes only a few minutes. Ryobi also has a great selection of attachments for this Weedeater. This Ryobi Weedeater is a little heavy but it is built to last

Ordered the cordless string trimmer to phase out my gas-powered trimmer. The package comes with the power head, string trimmer attachment, 6 Amp hour battery and charger with good operating instructions for each, and some extra string and a string speed winder. The trimmer was easy to assemble requiring installation of the grass deflector and handle, and then attaching the string trimmer to the power head and installing the battery. The trimmer is significantly lighter than my old gas-powered unit, well balanced, and ergonomically designed with an adjustable handle to make the trimming job easier. The straight shaft configuration provides good access to hard to reach areas. The 18 Volt 6 Amp hour cordless system does not provide quite as much power as my 28 cc 4 stroke gas powered unit, but is more than adequate for my needs on about a 1 acre property. On the initial charge I was able to trim and edge about the same area I was able to complete on one full tank of gas on my gas powered unit. I like the quiet power, light weight, and environmental friendliness of the unit. I like the bump feed trimmer head that is easy to use and reload, although I personally prefer to manually advance the trimming line. Also like the “Expand-it” system interchangeable with other attachments I currently have (edger, blower, cultivator), and the interchangeability of the One + battery and charger with my other Ryobi power tools. Highly recommend this unit for residential but not commercial use.

This Royobi trimmer is easy to set up and use. The brushless motor is more powerful and will last. I comes with a 18v high performance 6ah battery and charger. Not having to pull start a trimmer or store gas saves time and space. The line can be adjusted from 13 inch to 15 inch cutting width. I like the speed winder which makes winding the line very easy. The speed can be controlled with the variable speed trigger which gives me more control when cutting around lights or anything I do not want to damage. A big plus is that I can use other Royobi attachments I already have with the power head. The battery lasted me almost an hour which was more than enough to trim around my yard.

Powerful string trimmer that made quick work out of trimming my fruit tree orchard. That first spring clean up is always a test of yard tools and the Ryoby Expand It String Trimmer came through like a champ. I'm pleasantly surprised with the Ryobi 18V Brushless Attachment Capable String Trimmer in how fast you can trim around obstacles. The trimmer itself is a little heavy but considering the brushless motor is hefty enough for attachments such as edger, cultivator, sweeper, snow thrower, etc. I have my eye on the brush cutter attachment. The Expand It Power head should be more than capable in handling light brush. The string trimmer attachment is beefy as well with substantial construction. You can easily change the cutting diameter with a quick adjustment of the line cut off blade. By rotating 180* you can easily change from 13in diameter to 15in diameter cutting area. The bump feed also eliminates fighting with the trimmer to release string. Connection and release of the string trimmer attachment from the power head is also quick and easy. I'm new to string speed winding but the instructions in the operator's manual seem clear and straight forward. A fair amount of line is included. It should be a snap after one or two times loading string. My only con for this great trimmer is that the attachment shaft is so long and there's no way to adjust it. Granted I'm a petite female but this is the longest trimmer shaft I've used. But all in all, I'm impressed with the power and can't wait to acquire additional attachments. Any time you can consolidate your power tools, it's a good thing.

Of all of the string trimmers I have owned, or even looked at, this one is the highest grade. I would personally compare it to one of the motorized trimmers that professional lawn people use, except this one is battery operated and does not have the issues of a gasoline motor. The trimmer is fast when on full power. However, it has a High and Low power slide button as well as a variable speed trigger. I love the bump feed head which feeds line easily as well as the winding system for reloading line. The trimmer comes loaded with line, plus additional line, so I have not loaded new line yet. However, the instructions to load up to 10' of new line are straight forward and Ryobi even included as speed winder crank to put new line in. A 6.0 Ah battery, plus a charger, is included in the package. The 6 Ah will make the charge last for a very long time and the cut can be expanded from 13" to 15" by moving the grass deflector with cut-off blades, making a large cutting job smaller. The trimmer has a little weight to is, and is somewhat awkward at first because of the weight and length. The balance is great once the battery is installed, which makes the trimmer less awkward. All of my old trimmers had one piece of line coming out of the head. This trimmer has two pieces, which will make the cut faster and more complete. Another feature of this trimmer is the fact that so much of it is made of metal instead of plastic. An additional feature, which I have not tried, is that the top part of the trimmer handle can be used with multiple attachments. As innovative as Ryobi is, I feel sure the list of attachments will expand which will allow me to have more power tools that take up less room and save me money. Personally, I cannot say enough good things about this Ryobi 18V ONE Plus Attachment Capable String Trimmer. This is one of those tools that you have to get and see for yourself. Highly recommended.
