Easy to use
This reciprocating saw is perfect for jobs were you need a lightweight, yet powerful saw and don't feel like dragging out your heavy, corded saw.. I already have several Ryobi 18v tools with batteries so I was glad I could get just the tool itself. The quick release makes changing blades a snap. It has a .625" stroke length (less than a typical corded one) and weighs around 5 pounds. Being cordless affords me the opportunity to use this in places where extension cords are a hassle to use.

BEATS THE COMPITITION
While shopping online the RYOBI ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless Compact One-Handed Reciprocating Saw (Tool Only) caught my eye and I decided it was time for an upgrade and I'm so glad I did. Other than being lighter than my old saw, there will be no more fighting with the extension cord while using and I like the fact that's it's one handed and very comfortable to hold and control. The Ryobi come with one basic wood blade which is easily inserted and released with a quick easy flip of the quick release lever. At the time I chose the Ryobi, I didn't realize it was for the tool only, so my initial test of it I used the 18 volt battery from my older model Ryobi 18 volt cordless drill and it worked just fine although the older batteries are much larger, so I'll have to invest in a battery and charger. Overall I am completely satisficed with my selection.

Handy and lightweight for light to medium jobs
The Ryobi One+ Brushless Compact Reciprocating Saw is handy for light to medium weight jobs so common in DIY work. You avoid dragging out extension cables and rolling them up again after the task. A standard 2Ah battery gave me about 6 1/2 minutes sawing time in wet sticky tree roots as I was trying to get some big stumps out. You should probably consider a 4Ah HP battery as the minimum to get best performance from this compact tool. I would expect it to do much better in decent dry lumber but the great thing about reciprocating saws is they can cut just about anything and being battery this one can cut just about anywhere as well. I think this saw will get a lot of rides on my tractor where extension cords are just not an option and old wire fencing would destroy a chain saw. The light weight makes the saw easy to handle and the compact size is also easy to carry or store.

Powerful saw with great selection of blades for cutting
The Ryobi One 18 volt brushless one handed reciprocating hand saw is very light which makes it the tool to go to if you want to cut anything. The foot is nice and tight but you can adjust it at any angle depending on what you are cutting. The battery will last longer than you will need for any project so you don't need to carry any extra batteries around with you. The blade selection has blades to cut anything and changing it is very simple with a small tab on the side of the tool you just pull up and the blade releases, you don't need to carry around any extra tools to get blades out. One batterie fits all the tools and that makes it convenient.

lightweight and brushless motor
I’m looking forward to using this RYOBI ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless Compact One-Handed Reciprocating Saw. It is relatively lightweight (weighs 5.6 pounds without battery), and it is well-sized for a few DIY projects that I have in mind. However, this is the tool only, so you need to purchase a battery / charger before using. It has a brushless motor which means a quality product has been produced. A 3 year manufacture's warranty proves my point.

Powerful
RYOBI ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless Compact One-Handed Reciprocating Saw (Tool Only). This is a great reciprocating saw. This saw is powerful. It is comfortable for one handed use. I have been really happy with all the brushless ryobi tools. The new power that the new Brushless tools has is great. This saw comes with one demolition style blade and it's tool only. I have been a big fan of ryobi tools for years.

Powerful, compact, and durable.
This is a great little reciprocating saw. I do own an older Ryobi saw and a Ridgid reciprocating saw buy they are are and bulky. I wanted to try this out because it will take up less space in my tool bag. I'll go over some specs and features then share my experience with this tool. This saw is part of the Ryobi compact series. At only 13 inches in length you only need one hand to control this saw. It has a brushless motor that gives you more power, longer runtime, and longer motor life. Being a ONE+ HP it has the high performance technology. The trigger is variable so the harder you press it the faster the strokes. The motor provides 0-3,000 strokes per minute depending on the pressure you apply to the trigger. Each stroke length is 5/8 in. Blades are easily switched out with the quick release blade lever. Like alot of Ryobi's modern 18v tools this saw does have a built in LED so you can still see your work space in places you can't fit a light. The LED illuminates with the slightest pull of the trigger and stays on for about 10 seconds after you release it. The grip on the handle is a very grippy rubber material. There is a locking trigger to keep it from turning on accidentally. The shoe assembly was a little stiff but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It will help keep your cuts smooth. With the right blade you can cut all types of wood products (lumber, plywood, paneling, composite board, and hardwood), masonite, plastic, dry wall, sheet metal, pipe, steel rods, aluminum, brass, and copper. Another use for this tool I just found was cutting styrofoam sheets. I was suprised at the weight of this saw. It says 24% lighter from previous models but when I first picked it up it felt like it has some good weight to it. It weighs 3.8 lbs + whatever size battery you use. The nice thing is that the weight is top heavy. All of the weight goes into the cut which helps when you are cutting with one hand. I have cut some tree branches, 2×4's, and plywood only using the included blade and it cut great. While I was working in my shed I remebered I had some styrofoam insulation sheets. The last time I tried cutting them with a different saw it made a mess and came out jagged even with a fine tooth blade. To my suprise using this Ryobi saw and the included blade it cut the foam pretty smooth and did not make a huge mess. I'm actually really excited because now I can cut all of my sheets this weekend to insulate my shed and some spots in my basement. Its nice to have something you can easily control with one hand and still have another hand free. A friend of mine only has 1 hand. He buys motor homes that need work then fixes them up and sells them for a profit. I showed him this tool and he is also getting one. It will be alot easier for him to use then the standard reciprocating saw. If you are in the market for a nice, powerful, compact reciprocating saw give this a shot. You won't be disappointed.

Small but Mighty
Ryobi calls this a one-handed reciprocating saw, but as a small woman, I have no problem using 2 hands (see photo). In fact, I am a little hesitant to use it with just one hand. With a small, 1.5Ah battery it is just 4 lbs 8oz so I can hold it easily in one hand, but I am concerned I may lose control if it jams or jerks while cutting. Of course, I am certain that a professional carpenter would have no problem controlling it one-handed. I chose this saw because it is so compact that it will fit in tight spaces. It also has a shorter stroke than my larger, corded, reciprocating saw. This little saw is perfect for the tight spaces that are so typical during demolition or remodeling jobs. It is small, but powerful. I was quite glad that a short wood blade was included in the box with my cordless saw. I carefully compared it to the collection of sundry blades that I have on hand for my corded demolition hammer. The mounting end of this sample blade is exactly like all my old blades. I picked up several of them to make sure. They all fit securely in the clamp of this new saw. I have attached a photo showing the mounting profile. The thickness of the blades I tried were all close to 0.050”. There was some variation, but that is probably because some of them have teeth that are splayed out of the plane of the original blade profile. I like the way this new saw holds the blades. A lever on the side controls the clamp that holds the blade (see photo). This is a lot easier and faster than the method used on my corded, reciprocating saw which requires a small allen wrench to tighten or loosen the blade. I ordered this Hammer Drill as “Tool Only” because I already have a couple ONE+ chargers and several batteries. Ryobi makes compatible, lightweight, compact ONE+ batteries in 1.5Ah, 2Ah or 4Ah sizes and high power ONE+ HP batteries in 2Ah, 3Ah, 4Ah, 6Ah or 9Ah sizes. I have a Ryobi bag that came in a kit with my drill/driver. It is a very small bag, shorter than this saw (the saw is13” with no battery); however, it is a soft bag so it does hold this tool. but the bag is a little distorted, elongated. I can hold the drill/driver, this saw and a battery or this saw, a battery, a charger and a few blades (see photo).

Workhorse ready for whatever you throw at it
This saw is compact but has lots of power and is ready to work. I have two other reciprocating saws, where the blade lock/release mechanism is in the chuck, and you have to rotate a collar on the cutting head to release or insert a blade. This saw has an easy to access lever that locks and releases the blade with great ease. This is a great feature. Also it has an LED that helps you see what your are doing in low light situations. It cuts through 2x stock with ease. I will get the most use from this saw out trimming shooting lanes for my deer stands.

Handy little saw
This lightweight saw is great for using while on a ladder because you can control it with one hand and keep yourself steady and safe holding on with the other hand. The saw comes with a 5 inch all-purpose blade that worked okay for the hard-wood branches. We'll need to buy blades that do a quicker cut. The saw seems powerful enough, but the cutting was sometimes slow probably more due to us using the wrong blade for the job. Attaching the blade is easy.
