Another great removal burr
I’ve been building up bits for my Ryobi rotary tools, and removal burrs have been high on the list. I got this one as it has a longer reach with a nice tapered end on it. It can be used on either wood or plastic, and it’s smaller size is perfect for many types of jobs. Material removal is great and seems as though it will last for quite a while. Very happy to add this one to my Ryobi bit collection!

Rotary Tool Course Sphere Removal Burr
Ryobi has a course sphere materials removal burr, product # A90MR03. This item was offered for evaluation through the HD Seeds program this month, so I elected to do so. This course sphere is a down sized version of larger shanked burrs for rapidly removing materials from your project, but when used on a rotary tool it is suggested for wood or plastic only. The shaft size is accommodated by multiple brand rotary tools with the correct sized collet. The recommended maximum speed for use is 35,000 RPM. I used this for removing some of the heavy inner matrix of an elk antler instead of boring the material with a drill bit to avoid overheating or fracturing of the antler. The bit requires slight digital pressure to remain in the desired plane, but easily removed only the intended materials. I did not get much binding or accumulation of the removed materials within the spikes of the burr. Anything that remained was easily removed with an air nozzle. This bit is excellent for its intended use and remained aggressive in removing the unwanted materials. It is worth your consideration as another accessory bit for your rotary tool. This item is manufactured in the U.S.A.

RYOBI Rotary Tool Coarse Sphere Material Removal Burr
I just started to learn to carve wooden spirit faces and this bit worked beautifully. Using any of these bits will throw a lot of material and dust so be sure to wear a mask and eye protection. The bit dug in easily and made perfect rounded gouges in the wood. I used Pine and some Maple and they both cut easily. I did not notice any loss of sharpness and no broken ‘spurs’ that I could find. I cleaned the Burr with water and soft brush after to keep the teeth from getting clogged. I like this product very much and highly recommend it.

Great for smoothing a beveled surface.
The smooth taper material removal burr worked well with my 1/8 shank rotary tool. I was able to quickly cut into a pine board with it and bevel the edge. I also did the same with the coarse taper material removal burr from ryobi so I could compare surface finishes. The smooth taper burr made a better surface finish but took a little longer to remove the same amount of material. I also tested the smooth rotary taper tool on a walnut shell and was able to get into the nooks and crannies easily with the tapered shape. This seems like a solid bit that should last a long time if used correctly.

Removes Material Reasonably Quick, Easy to Manage
This works as you would expect. It will grind into wood or plastic (only tried it on wood thus far). Using a Ryobi ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless Rotary Tool on a lower speed setting, it was easy to manage, removed material reasonably quickly, and did not foul-up (get clogged). Good to Know: The burr does leave lines behind if you are holding the tool steady and preventing vertical movement. If you move it around more, those lines will be minimized. Depending on your needs you may need to sand down the surface after using the burr.

Good product
The smooth material removal burr by RYOBI is well made with quality material. It is made in the USA. It is intended to be used on wood and plastic. It is compatible with Dremel tools as well as many other high-speed rotational tools. The maximum speed is 35000 revolutions per minute. At this speed, eye protection is essential. It is a little handy tool that I keep in the same box containing my rotational tool.

A great addition to any toolbox
This this always comes in handy when I’m working on installing a door lock or any type of woodwork. Since its very corse it works perfectly for grinding out wood . It also works really great on plastic. The quality is beyond excellent and the price is very reasonable. Personally I think ryobi makes some of the best rotary tool bits hands down. For what you’re paying for, you’re getting a great deal.

Soft Material Burr
I have a few larger material removal burrs for wood (coarse) and metal(fine/hard steel). The Ryobi rotary tool smooth flame burr would be used on soft materials for smaller more intricate cuts in projects with fine detail work. Works with any rotary tool, 35,000 max RPM, for concave, and v-shaped cuts. I'll probably use this for the counter sinking with small screws in wood with better control.

US made tungsten carbide ripping bit
This bit fits to any Dremel like 1/8" collet. While it is recommended for wood and plastic but not steel this bit has several advantages over abrasive stone bits. It cuts much faster than abrasives, doesn't leave as much burr as abrasive when working on plastics, doesn't burn or char wood. All those advantage are due to different cutting action. Sturdy tungsten carbide bristles pierce and rip away material from the service. Abrasive stones that cut by friction tend to either burn wood or leave a beards of burr when cutting plastic. I just use it to rim sprinkler polyethylene pipes to push them on to male connectors. Before I used file but couldn't rim pipe opening symmetrically. This caused water leaks. With rotary tool and this bit I simply turn pipe around bit and it works perfectly.
