Q:can these be cut to 44 inches?

Answer This Question

A:  Short Answer: Yes. More Detailed Answer: The primary vertical strings that hold it together and roll it up are only about 26" apart. So you could cut it down that much. HOWEVER, the top bracket from which you hang it is a medium weight plastic that may be harder to cut without the proper tool. So if you are not equipped to cut that part to the width you desire, then the top bracket would still be 48". The shade itself is made of lightweight plastic laths (almost like flattened drinking straws.) So with a good shears, you can definitely cut them. But it will take a minute.

    A:  No, we do not recommend cutting the shade because it will damage the operating mechanism and void the manufacturer's warranty.

        A:  I am told no, but if you just need a few inches cut off, can the cut say 60" down to 56"? It seems there would be room to do that on each end. I am desperate because while one side of my porch is 48" the other has three sections that are less than 60".

              They fall apart within 2 yrs.
              I bought 3 of them to shade my patio. After a year they were faded and by year 2 they fell apart. Before the first-year they were good, just for temporary use.

                Fading and Mildew
                Bought 3 different widths last year - put up this summer. Are faded, mildewed and green. Very dissatisfied.

                  It's a new porch!
                  Don't know why I waited so long to get these, it has turned my porch into a welcoming outdoor seating area. The sun is no longer an issue, these blinds work and very affordable. We will have to see how long they hold up. For what I paid, I dont expect several years. They are made out of plastic - like the drinking straws you use. Therefor, you know that if they slightly bend or pressed on they will make that crease or bruise mark that you also get on drinking straws. I like that they were easy to put up and affordable. Does take time to hand roll them up and down, especially with the plastic holders that are provided. I didnt give 5 stars because the blow easily in the wind and when I tied them down to my porch posts, you have to be careful because the seams in between that hold the plastic straws are not tight/thick/sturdy and broke loose with pressure from the wind. It would have been great if they were weighted at the bottom for stability. Also, you will want to enclose the hooks more so when hanging the blinds because the wind had uplifted them off the hooks. Overall, I like them!

However, it's exactly what I wanted and I have two of them. Since it's plastic I think it will solve the mildew problem I had with other screen materials. Well see how it does at the end of summer.
