Q:Can I use this on concrete patio pavers ?
by|May 22, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  RadonSeal is not best for pavers. Use our RadonSeal Penetrating Paver Sealer. An silane/siloxane blend that will protect against salts, stains, freeze/thaw, and will repel water for up to 10-years.

    Q:Can radon seal be colorized
    by|Apr 14, 2023

    Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question and interest. RadonSeal is not a chemical sealer that can be color tinted. However, it will accept a water-based stain or concrete dry to be applied afterward. Alternatively, our LastiSeal Concrete Stain & Sealer is a penetrating sealer and concrete stain in one product. Have a great day! Cheers, ---------- Craig - Product Tech RadonSeal

Q:I have dusting on my concrete diveway. Can this product be applied on exterior driveways?
      by|Mar 7, 2023

      Answer This Question

A:  It is a sealer so it might help but that is not what it is for. I personally would not use it for exterior work that is unprotected from the elements. Now if you were wanting to spray a foundation wall that was latter covered and waterproofed that is another story. The reason to use this product is to seal a porous concrete floor, foundation or block to stop the filtration of radon going through it and entering the living area. There are better products out there for sealing exposed concrete but even they need to be redone in 4-5 years.

A:  RadonSeal is routinely applied to outdoor concrete including driveways to protect from deterioration, spalling, and salt induced degradation. In addition to waterproofing, RadonSeal is a densifier so treated surfaces are measurably stronger and harder. Severe dusting could a the result of laitance. Laitance is a concrete flaw typically caused by over wetting the concrete when it is poured. Fine particles are carried to the surface by the excess water to form a very dusty, weak layer on top.

Q:We had a thin layer of concrete, or mortar, troweled over some badly stained cement walkways in our back yard. It's very powdery! Can it be powerwashed off? Or is it best to use this sealer?
          by|Aug 14, 2022

          Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question! A dusting concrete surface is commonly attributed to the improper curing of the concrete after it was poured. Pressure washing alone removes debris, but is not a solution to the problem. One of the many benefits of using RadonSeal Concrete Sealer is that it helps increase surface hardness and wear resistance. However, we do not recommend using RadonSeal on concrete surface levelers or concrete patching compounds. The main reason is that they are often chemically modified (polymer modified). If the surface of the concrete patching compound is porous, the correct choice of sealer would be to use our LastiSeal Brick & Concrete Sealer. There is no guarantee that sealers will 100% stop dusting, but they can absolutely help. Cheers, --------- Craig - Product Tech RadonSeal

I monitored my radon levels with an electric radon detector for over a month and it stayed right around 11 for long term and 7 day readings. After following the application steps better than most probably can (I had a very clean floor to begin with) for my entire unfinished basement floor (applying 2 "wet on wet" coats) and filling all cracks after the application, my levels remain at 11. This did absolutely nothing to help with radon levels. I took a risk on buying two buckets so I could do the recommended 2 coats everywhere and it was a bust. Also, it's been 3 weeks since applying the two coats with no change whatsoever in radon levels for the entire 3 weeks.

Its quite surprising that after repairing all your cracks and sealing your foundation and slab with RadonSeal, you saw no change to your radon levels. Where else could the radon be entering your basement? Sump pit? Floor drains? I would be interested in talking about your situation in more detail. Please call when you have time to discuss. 800 472 0603

So far, the application appears to have improved the dampness situation considerably. However, we have not had any of the heavy rains like we experienced in early January, so the jury is still out for a bit longer until we get more rain and see if the desired waterproofing effect is in fact effective.
