Q:We have new concrete around our saltwater pool that has spider web/crazing on it. If we seal it with this penetrating sealer, can it later be etched or stained if the crazing appearance doesn't improve over time.

Q:can this product be used on exterior basement walls

Answer This Question

A:  RadonSeal Penetrating Concrete Sealer is engineered to provide long-lasting protection for both concrete floor and walls, whether indoors or outdoors, and above or below grade. When applying to below-grade walls on the exterior side, RadonSeal serves as a crucial preparatory step, often employed before the use of bituminous damproofing coatings. To ensure optimal protection against water, apply RadonSeal to the concrete surface before backfilling, allowing it to penetrate and fortify the substrate. After a few days of curing, proceed with the application of bituminous coatings, dimple plastic sheeting, or foam boards that will appease damproofing building codes. Q:Does this product allow water to bead at the surface?
      by|Feb 25, 2024
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your interest. RadonSeal Concrete Sealer is a water-based, nano-chemical, solvent-free, penetrating sealer formulated to penetrate deep into the concrete (up to 4") rather than forming a surface barrier that would bead water. The sealer is designed to preserve concrete, providing internal protection against various issues such as water, ground moisture, freeze-thaw, road salts, deicing chemicals, and other harmful substances. This makes it a particularly effective concrete sealer for areas where water beading is not desirable, especially in high-vehicular and foot traffic zones. It serves as a preparatory step before the application of paints, epoxy, concrete stains, and surface levelers. If you're seeking surface repellency in a penetrating sealer, look no further than our DryWay & DryWay Plus. These are the appropriate sealers to achieve the level of repellency. Effective seal
I noticed elimination of smell and dampness in my basement after application to my basement floor. I prepped surface removing efflorescence as best I could and etched using non-toxic etching liquid and put 2nd coat 30 minutes after first coat and swept with broom after each coat followed buy light spray of water after the last coat and one more broom sweep. It’s been about three weeks now and everything good. Noticed some purge of efflorescence after first few days as expected. I recommend.

I monitored my radon levels with an electric radon detector for over a month and it stayed right around 11 for long term and 7 day readings. After following the application steps better than most probably can (I had a very clean floor to begin with) for my entire unfinished basement floor (applying 2 "wet on wet" coats) and filling all cracks after the application, my levels remain at 11. This did absolutely nothing to help with radon levels. I took a risk on buying two buckets so I could do the recommended 2 coats everywhere and it was a bust. Also, it's been 3 weeks since applying the two coats with no change whatsoever in radon levels for the entire 3 weeks.

Its quite surprising that after repairing all your cracks and sealing your foundation and slab with RadonSeal, you saw no change to your radon levels. Where else could the radon be entering your basement? Sump pit? Floor drains? I would be interested in talking about your situation in more detail. Please call when you have time to discuss. 800 472 0603

              Not long lasting
Purchased the product for naked cement master bedroom. Product worked as advertised for the first year. But sadly large area's allowed moisture come through the cement and damage wood furniture.

Takes a few steps but goes on easy. Need to pre-wet and apply a second application while the first is still wet. I used a push broom to remove the pooling and work in the material. I’ll do a post radon reading to see if there are any changes once the job is completed.
