Product Overview

DryWay Water-Repellent Concrete and Masonry Sealer is a water-based blend of chemically reactive siloxanes and silanes, specially formulated for deep penetration and long-lasting protection. DryWay penetrates deep into the substrate to chemically bond and form a water-repellent barrier deep below the surface. DryWay protects concrete driveways, bricks, pavers, and other porous masonry from deterioration, staining, cracking, spalling, freeze/thaw cycles, moss and algae growth. It is easily applied with a hand-held garden sprayer, roller, or brush. Treated surfaces will bead or shed water for years to come. It is like filling the pores with silicone caulk. The seal does not trap water vapor and allows surfaces to breathe and dry out. DryWay is resistant to UV-rays, heat, and oxidative degradation. Moreover, it is hidden deep inside the pores from the sun and elements. It will not yellow and there is no gloss. The water-repellent barrier becomes an integral part of the substrate, there is no film to peel or wear off. COVERAGE - Poured Concrete: 750-1000 sq. ft., Brick/Pavers: 600-750 sq. ft., Concrete Blocks: 400-600 sq. ft., Split face Blocks: 250-400 sq. ft.
  • Keep your concrete driveway, sidewalk, patio, pool deck, and garage floor looking new.
  • Protects against staining, salt and chloride attack, spalling, freeze/thaw damage, efflorescence, mold and algae growth.
  • Penetrates below the surface - does not leave a film. Will not peel, crack, or fade.
  • Water-based formula. Ultra-low VOC / No odor. Safe around people, plants, and pets.
  • Leaves a natural finish. No gloss and no sheen.
  • ZERO acrylic content means less maintenance and fewer reapplications.
  • Use on poured concrete, pavers, bricks and blocks.

No, This product seals the surface of the concrete to keep it from absorbing water, dirt, grease and such, but is NOT a crack filler. There are other concrete crack filling products available that are more like thin caulk, there are also epoxies designed for crack filling.

We would recommend that you read and adhere to the application instructions. When used on poured concrete, RadonSeal is applied to two wet-on-wet applications roughly 15-30 between applications.

Provided the acrylic coating as completely worn away (concrete readily absorbs water), DryWay Water-Repellent Sealer would be a proper sealer to use for concrete driveways.

Can I use a drive way paint after the sealant is complete dry?

Answer

DryWay is an excellent repellent. Things have a tough time "sticking" to treated surfaces. Your driveway will be resistant to stains but not paintable.

Answer

DryWay would be good choice for your driveway, provided the perviously applied sealer is completely removed. 20-years is a long time, and I would agree that most, at not all, of the old sealer is gone by now. You can do a quick test with water to see if the surface is porous. You shouldn't see beading and the concrete should turn dark. If that is the case, go for it.

is this sealant clear or black? my concrete driveway is painted black.

Avoid foot and vehicular traffic until the surface has completely dried out. Treated areas will begin to appear dry within 3-6 hours.

Will product block radon gas on in basement floor

Asked by Balz April 11, 2020

Answer

The chemicals in DryWay are primarily used for sealing outdoor concrete, because it is a water-repellent. For sealing basement concrete (subterranean) against the infiltration of soil gasses, moisture, and water vapor, the proper sealer would be RadonSeal Deep-Penetrating Concrete Sealer.

Water beaded up on driveway after applying this product
This review is for RadonSeal DryWay 5 Gal. Water-Repellent Concrete Paver and Masonry Sealer, Model # 205. I needed to cover a poured concrete driveway that is about 1100 square feet. The listing for this item says a 5 gallon bucket will cover from 750 to 1000 square feet, so I ordered 2 buckets. I wound up using about 8 gallons total which worked out to about 137.5 square ft per gallon which is 687 sq ft per 5 gallons. I guess my driveway was thirsty. I waited for a weather forecast where no rain was predicted for 5 days in a row, and temps below 90 degrees. On Tuesday I powerwashed the driveway and on Thursday I used a sprayer to apply the concrete sealer. It is a thin milky white liquid, went on easily and dried in about 4 or 5 hours. There was no odor to this product. It did not change the color of the concrete, it did not leave a film or gloss or anything noticeable on the concrete after it dried. I rinsed out the sprayer with water after applying the sealer. On Saturday, 2 days after applying the sealer, I got some water on the driveway while watering some plants. The water beaded up - please see photos. It has not rained since I applied it so I can't say how well it holds up to rain. Only time will tell how well it continues to work, but I am pleased with this product at the present time.

Zero beading, Zero repellent
This stuff is junk. Applied 10 gallons and can't even tell it, water soaks right through. No beading at all. Save your money and find a different product!

We bought this sealer last fall and applied it to our driveway copiously to prevent city salt from being tracked onto drive. It has performed wonderfully. I just order another 5 gal. to finish up where I ran out last year. Our drive is 22ft wide by 43 ft. long. The radon benefit does not apply to my driveway, and I had trouble locating product on H.D. website until I looked at my purchase history. Perhaps H.D. could list these 5 gal pails, not just little quart squirt bottles of crack sealant. In fact I had to enter SKU number to find it. Entering DryWay sealant yielded no results for this. You'd sell more of it if you listed it.

followed the instructions on bucket but as I was spraying the driveway, it occurred to me that there was no mention as to how thick of a spray should be applied to have an effective seal. It may say to spray for so long or an amount per square yard but that is hard to estimate
