Q:Water flow is good but spinner is not functioning, water just runs out. Suggestions?

Answer This Question

A:  First would be to test another microspay to see if the component is faulty. If it is not, you may not have enough flow to operate the microspray. Please keep in mind the flow rate (usually measured in gallons per hour or gph) from your water supply must be equal to or more than the flow rate required by your drip irrigation system. For example, if you are using 200 drip emitters rated at 1 gph each on 1/2 tubing, that equates to a total of 200 gph required by your system. Might be good to review your system and make sure you have adequate flow to manage the water emission devices. Hope this helps.

Q:I installed a couple of these into a half inch drip line. The attachment seems loose. I can only push it in so far before running into the other side of the drip line. Is this supposed to be a tight fit?

    Answer This Question

A:  I you inserted the barb into the 1/2" line, that is sufficient. It may seem loose or movable, but it should not leak.

Handy microsprayer that is easy to install and saves water
We use a lot of these Rain Bird microspray products in our garden, either full circle (as in this case), half circle or quarter circle. They are really easy to install. Just push the stake into the ground where you want it, connect to a nearby distribution hose (1/4” or a hole punched in ½”) using the attached connector. With the water on you can adjust the reach of the spray using the knob. Just be careful not to attach too many to a single distribution line or you may not have enough pressure for a decent spray radius. The specs say 0-10 ft radius, but I think that is a little optimistic. We get closer to 6-7 ft. But larger radius means either higher flow (they say 0-31 GPH) or less coverage, so keeping the target area smaller and using more of the sprinklers is a better idea and lets you fine-tune what actually gets how much water – saving water in the process. We like the product and keep finding places to add more, while reducing water usage by others.

          Great for small garden areas
I’m just starting to setup a drip-type system to add to my sprinkler system. I found some of my plants were not getting enough water, so I thought something like a micro sprayer would be a perfect solution. Having this already on a stake should make installation pretty easy. I bought an adapter for my current drip outlet, and this should plug right in. Quality seems great, and I have lots of other Rain Bird sprinklers in my yard. Recommended!

          Great stake
Since starting about four years ago, I've become a bit ADD about the drip system we installed. It's kinda like when I was a kid with my Erector set. There are all kinds of different parts that you can put together for different applications. Although I have button or other kinds of drippers for the roots of most plants, I've been using the microsprayers on stakes to give the plants a drink through their leaves. This microsprayer is nothing new, but the stake is. Two things I really kie about it is that the portion that holds the rigid tube of the adjustable microsprayer is offset from the stake itself. THis allows you to put that extra pressure on top of the stake (they even give you a little button shaped area for pressing on) for that ground that is a bit tougher. The thing I really like about the stake is the loop though which you can pass the 1/4" feed line. We have dogs that run through the garden and they are constantly ripping the feed line off the staked sprayer as they charge through. with this firm attachment - they still knock the stake loose, but I don't have to do any repairs. Kudos to RainBird for this feature. Two enthusiastic thumbs up.

Adjustable for distance and water output, easy to install
I am always looking for better ways to water my garden, and this is a great product. The height is adjustable, the water spray distance and output are adjustable, and it is super-easy to add to your 1/2" drip tubing line. I got the 1/4 spray pattern for my potted vegetables, and it does a nice job of spraying the full pot, much better than a single dripper. This is an all-inclusive package, everything you need to plug into your line.

Hurray hurray for the micro spray
This product micro sprays like nobody’s business - if you want a micro sprayer you have found the right product. It sprays as advertised and keeps plants wet when they would otherwise be dry.
