I bought this to make a dry creek in my Japanese garden. They are all polished black and similar in size, just what I was looking for but I do not know what the name of rock is.

Are these safe to use around a fire pit where the seating will be? Not in the fire pit. Thank you.

These rocks are better suited for display than as a walking surface. They are slick, so when they are stepped on directly they give and move easily. If they are going somewhere besides a a direct walking area they should be safe.

I"d like to use these in my out door landscaping. What happens over time? Do they stay black?

They do get a little grayish. If wet they are jet black.

I need 14 cubic feet of stones, how many bags would this be?

Not sure about cubic feet, but these rocks are about an 1-1/2 thick so the 2" and 3" depth should be used in the calculator to get good coverage. I found that one 20lb bag is pretty small for coverage, 1 bag will do slightly over a 1'X1' square. My first order left me WAY short.40 bags gave me about 20' in a strip just over 2' wide. I had to order double the amount of my first order to complete

Hello, Home Depot no longer offers that item in the Stores. Please contact your local Store. They will be able to direct you to a close by Store with inventory. The 2nd option is to purchase on HomeDepot.com

These aren't in the stores anymore and the price was 7.60 a bag. I need 12 bags to complete my project. Where can I get

These rocks were exactly what we wanted for our cactus garden. Buy more than you think you need because 20 pounds might sound like a lot but didn’t go as far as we wanted. We ended up buying 6 bags (see picture) and still need about 3-4 more bags to cover the garden.

I bought these for rock painting and I read the comments thoroughly: they said they were not treated with a coating or polish, but instead tumbled smooth. Well, they ARE coated - they're waxed, which would prevent any paint from adhering. The only way I can use them is to simmer them in a pot on the stove with a dishwasher pod to dissolve the wax, then I have to wash the residue off with warm water and liquid soap. What a pain in the backside. When I'm done, they're dark gray and the blemishes show (I'll work to cover those with paint, but they were hidden by wax). For landscape, as long as this wax isn't toxic, they're probably fine. Also, the are NOT 2-3". They're 4-6" mainly, one was over 7"

Beautiful rocks but not as many in the bag as I expected. Will need three times the number of bags as I projected so I'll be getting them a little at a time. They look great so far though.

GRADE A BLACK POLISHED ROCKS - POLISH LASTS ONLY ONE WEEK, ROCKS TURN GREY
I purchased 15 containers of these "Grade A Black Polished Pebbles." My initial disappointment was that out of the 15 containers combined, I was able to collect at least one container's worth of broken rocks. I should have returned the one container, but decided to use them for a bottom layer of rocks that people wouldn't see. After two weeks of being outdoors, the polish wore off and the rocks turned grey in color. I found that the rocks were not polished at all, they were actually sprayed with a type of mineral oil or the like, to give the appearance that they were polished/shiny. After two weeks of Seattle "sun," the rocks al turned grey. Had I wanted grey rocks, I would have purchased grey rocks. Quite disappointed and recommend not purchasing these. I would have returned them, but had thrown out all of the containers. Alas.

Was a debacle ordering them because shipping was $10.00 a bag; ship to store was not an option. I have had them in my yard less than a week and already they are gray. Even worse than that, not all of them are gray so it looks peppered. Was looking for a permanent alternative to mulch and did A LOT or work to prepare for these. Really need another 20 bags but not for this price/quality.

These are nice pebbles, but not uniformly of same quality. All are polished, just that some seem less than others, and sizes are quite random. Having said all this, I used 2 bags to fill pots holding outdoor artificial plants, and am satisfied with the resulting look.
