Hello RSS, thank you for the great question. The Easy Lift shades cannot be overlapped as they have top and bottom PVC railings on them. They can be placed side by side, so there will be a slight gap inbetween the materials. Please reach out with any other questions and we would be more than happy to help. Redi Shade Customer Care

yes, but it is a very tedious job and hard to do. I don't recommend this product unless you have a knife sharpener and very patient.

Hi Carmen, thank you for the great question. The shades only have the adhesive on the top portion. If installed bottom up, there would be nothing to hold them on the surface and they would fall. I don’t think that’s true. It was a full 30 inches! You may have 1/4 inch on each side but you down want it flush or it won’t open and close as easily. They also have a longer option that you can trim down if you’re worried.

I bought a dozen shades in blackout and light filtering material. They came well packaged with easy instructions. The only recommendation I can add is to use a sharp, serrated bread-type knife... it makes the cutting clean and easier than a smooth blade, as noted in the instructions. Otherwise, I was able to cut and install a dozen shades in less than 2 hours and they look and work fantastic.

I read the reviews before I purchased these and I bought two of them any way. Most critical, you need to buy the 3M black double sided tape to make sure these don't fall down. 2nd most critical you must have a very sharp knife to cut these. For the proper window measurement you will need to cut both ends per the instructions. The idea of these blinds are great. They are light weight, but the tape that comes on them will not hold them up, (yes I cleaned the surface very well.) Once you have them up they look really nice and you can't even notice you cut them with a kitchen knife. I would have given them more stars if it hadn't been for the quality of the tape.

These shades look grey NOT WHITE when up on the window. The photo on the site is very deceptive. Had I known they would look so grey I would have purchased the tan color. With a white ceiling and molding around the window, beige walls, this grey looks awful!

(What's this)
The Easy-Lift cellular shade is an excellent product and comes with easy to understand directions for trimming and installing. The only tool needed is a sharp kitchen knife with between three- and four-inch blade used for trimming both ends. The tape showing measurements for exact points for trimming is on top of the shade. Also there is a guide with a slot for the knife blade. Lady Luck smiled on me, because there was no trimming necessary for where I hung my shade - just pulled the tape off and hung it up - presto! no more glare shining in my eyes.

(What's this)
This might be my most critical review to date I have posted for any product, why? You ask. Maybe I am expecting too much, to begin with the shade came with minor damage and an end missing, which is a minor disappointment right out of the box, (see picture). I got the light blocking 36” x 64” for a bay window that is 36” x 48” so I thought great I will not even have to trim, not so fast. Now comes the real frustration and maybe more than a few lessons. On the instructions that came with the blind (right at the top of the page), is a web site to visit for a video on how to install, it is www.redishare/easy-lify.com which is a bad web address, so thanks to Google I found https://www.redishade.com/product/easy-lift-shades/ which is the correct page. From there I discovered a youtube video, I will link to. The video is just over a minute and with very simple instructions, none of which address my issues. To compound difficulty cutting such a small amount off the end; the bottom, (remember very thin “hallow” material see picture), crushes so you need to do something like I did, find some foam (the harder the better) cut to fit inside the end of the bottom rail which you will need the extra support. The slide you see in the instructions is also very loose, which allows the material to move around a lot, and as any DIYer knows you want anything you are cutting to be held solid and in place, that is an absolute necessity for a smooth cut and safety. I tried to cut about ¼” off the end, not so easy, the top and bottom are very thin, which I will assume is done to make cutting through with a kitchen knife as recommended easy, but it makes it impossible to keep the end from moving around and causing a really rough tearing of the paper thin material. To add insult to injury, I removed the backing from the tape that is suppose to hold it in place, after removing the budget blind that has been hanging there for 30 plus years, (and displays melting by the South Texas sun), did dusting, cleaning to make sure everything was nice and newish, I attempted to place the Redi Shade Easy Lift blind in the aforementioned bedroom bay window, it promptly fell down, so I pushed harder and held it for a minute or so, pulled to lower and yep it fell down. So I said some things, which I will leave to your imagination. OK I am calmer now; I used 4 pieces of 3M tape strips left over from my security system, to hold and that worked. I do not need this level of aggravation for such a simple product. What did I learn, I should have gone next size up, wound up cutting ¾ of an inch off, if you are close to the same size, having more material to remove will give you a better cut. Insert something anything to firm up the bottom rail, caution all the material is delicate so conventional tools are useless, by that I mean clamps or saws. Use a razor knife with a exposed blade wider than the blinds width to cut it, go slow in a sawing motion, like you are doing heart surgery, if you have some rough edges, making sure the end is held very tightly together, use 220 or finer sandpaper very lightly to make minor roughness smooth. If at first you do not succeed then try again do not let a blind get the best of you.

(What's this)
We received this shade, which arrived with a dent in the plastic part, and watched an easy how-to video for installation. It is a little more involved than it looks. There are measurements on the adhesive side to go by for trimming, but you have to measure the opposite side because the end caps stick out further and the shade will not fit. You have to remove the end caps to cut, but measure before you do. We had to trim the ends twice because of this. The layers of paper and plastic are a bit more challenging to cut through than the video shows. We used a brand new straight edged kitchen knife and it was still harder than it looks. Once we got the perfect size, we pulled off the strips to expose the adhesive and stuck it up in the window. We pulled it down to make sure it worked and pushed it back up. The shade did not go all the way up on one side and hung down until we played with it a little. It looked good for two days until it fell down onto the window sill. We put it back up and it soon fell again. the window frame is clean and new so there is no reason why it should not stick. There does not seem to be anyway to install it without the adhesive. The shade is certainly not worth the money since it is plastic, paper and adhesive and won't stick to the window frame. Very disappointed in this product.

(What's this)
I regard these as temporary shades. However, given the requirement they can be the perfect solution. I installed these in a room where my grandkids stay when they visit, so I didn't want any cords which pose a safety concern. They're extremely easy to install. It takes about 5 minutes. The instructions said to use a smooth kitchen knife to cut them. I found the equivalent of a bread knife worked best. I kept the protective cellophane on them, measured and marked with a sharpie, cut them, removed the cellophane, re-attach the decorative endpiece, and push them against the upper window sill. Mine stayed at the opening I selected. Keep in mind these shades come in different light filtering capability, from simple low light filter to complete blackout. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a temporary solution to blinds.

(What's this)
The shade was extremely well packaged to prevent damage. When I removed the shade from its packaging I was very surprised how light it was compared to the wood venetian blinds it will be replacing. I also looked for installation hardware, there is none! Installation was a snap. No holes to drill and the width happened to fit the interior of my 36-inch window frame perfectly. If you need to shorten the width there are simple instructions and even a cutting guide to make it easy. NOTE: If you shorten the width you will need to cut both ends the same amount. After you determine the correct width, and trim as necessary, installation is easy. But, I did remove my old blinds, patched and sanded the screw holes and painted the inside frame (you may need to do the same). Then I just pulled off the protective strip from the tape on the shade and pressed the shade to the top inside frame of my window. The shade pulls down and up very easily. However, I did have an issue with the shade being crooked when in the full up position. One side would not go all the way up. However, when I pulled the shade up and down a few times it straightened out. I am a bit concerned about how well the tape will last, as my experience leads me to believe I may need to eventually use Liquid Nails to hold it in place, which will make it “permanent” and a real mess if I ever wanted to change the shade. Or use two strips of super-hold double-stick tape. The shade does not let any light thru and the room was completely dark in the middle of a bright afternoon. All that said, I recommend this product.
