Q:why does the 2000W inverter need to be used with 200ah battery as opposed to 100ah which is all I need?
by|Mar 8, 2024

Answer This Question

A:  Good day, Damonsgarage! Thank you for reaching out to us! Let me answer this for you! The reason why the 12v 2000w PSW Inverter needs at least 12v 200ah of batteries is that the watt rating of the inverter itself, a 12v 100ah (1200wh) cannot provide 2000w of power whereas the 12v 200ah (2400wh) can meet the minimum, although that being the case it is still possible to use just a 12v 100ah battery with the 12v 2000w Inverter but it might prematurely throw an error since the 2000w Inverter might think that the battery is over-discharged since it doesn't meat the minimum required battery size so that is why we do not recommend using a 12v 100ah battery with the 12v 2000w inverter in the long run. I would advise you to check out the Renogy 12v 1000w Pure Sine Wave Inverter that would work perfectly with a 12v 100ah battery. Should you require further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact our chat support team on the website or reach out to our tech team at (909) 287-7111. Thank you, and stay safe

Q:I have connected this 2000 watt inverter to a AGM 200 ah battery, is it possible to add one more battery and use as a 24 volt system ? Or should I connect them parallel? I connected my freezer to see how long it would operate with the one battery, and in the morning the inverter was screeching a high pitched signal noise. I checked the voltage of on my charge controller, it was at approximately 11.8 volts. Is there anything you can direct me towards ? I want my freezer to be independent of house current. Thank you

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi Joe, Thank you for sending your inquiry. The Renogy 2000W inverter can support a 12V system only, the AGM battery can be connected in series but you need to use an inverter that can handle 24V. Call us at (909) 287-7100 or visit Renogy.com. We're open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 3 pm PST.

Great Inverter, wish you could monitor the watts
Great Product. Support was awesome to talk to to figure out a few items. I use it for a Solar Battery backup system if I lose power to run my mini fridge, sump pump and freezer. I have a 400 watt premium system and added 2 - 200AH 12 volt AGM Batteries. I think they should sell as a package, but everybody's needs are different I guess. The only thing I would recommend is that people use a watt meter for (over time) calculations. you really need to do the math on what your appliances use and over time what your needs are.

          Inverter is a Great Choice
I did a lot of research and settled on the Renogy 2000W Inverter. the installation was easy, but took a little more time that I expected. I really like the 120V power cable connection. this makes the install cleaner and more permanent. I have used the system to run lights and my TV with no issues. I also ran the microwave for 3 minutes and the fans didn't even kick on. For the price and support, you can't beat Renogy.

            AVOID AVOID
15 months old just stopped working it was used about ten times total. Customer service while very responsive will waste your time for days just to tell you it is out of the warranty period. I honestly don't think I would have been upset at all had they just led out with that. Either way the inverter is no good!

              2,000 watt Just Right
Purchased for Travel Trailer install. Received in good condition from shipper. Install went well although the fastening flange was very tight because of the design and my placement was in a small area. Time will tell on longevity and I do recommend.
