Super happy with the unit, wife is finally happy that we get hot water to kitchen sink within 10 seconds.
Good day WoodHen, Thank you for contacting Rheem. Yes you can use this pump with a regular heater.
Yes. I have both the push button and the wireless transmitter. The range on the wireless is pretty short. I have found that using it with a smart plug and Alexa works also. you can set timers for your schedule and use a verbal command to start the pump. To start the pump you need to turn if off and back on.
Thank you for asking. Please contact us directly for assistance 877-474-6473.
Hello OnceUpon, Thank you for asking, in that diagram they are referring to is the full loop there and back.
Thank you for asking, WirelessRemote. The Wireless Remote Kit can only work with the On Demand Pump Kit (AP18403) and the Wireless Remote is Part# SP20861, which can be purchased at Parts.Rheem.com. If you have any further questions, please contact us at 1-866-720-2076. Thank you and have a great day.
Thank you for asking, Dom. We would suggest to discuss the installation and connections to your cold water line with a plumber. If you have any other questions, please contact us at 1-866-720-2076. Thank you and have a great day.
The hot water (obviously) is pulled from your water heater and doesn't shut off until the unit senses that hot water has arrived. In my experience, the pump pulls water through your pipes much faster than if I just run the faucet on full-hot using your municipal water pressure (and I have a 1" pipe) so you'll get hot water sooner than you're used to. Once hot water has arrived at the unit, it will shut off and you can then open the hot water tap. There is no benefit to running the tap before the hot water arrives. When you open the tap, that's when your faucet's mixer determines the temperature of the water that comes out. If you never use full-hot water, you should think about setting your water heater to a lower temperature level.
I turned this pump into an automatic unit whenever someone turns on the hot water. I used a GEMS FS200 flow switch, installed before the water heater, which energizes the outlet this pump is plugged into when anyone in the house turns on the hot water. It pump automatically shuts off when the water is warm enough. Works fantastic, with no pushing the buttons. Gems flow switch works like a light switch, flipping it on when water is flowing, shutting it off when no water is flowing. Wish TACO/Kohler would just build this feature into the pump, so I didn't have to by a flow switch, run a line to the outlet under the sink.
Thank you for asking, Jeff. The Power Cord is about 1 foot long and the wiring for the button is about 4 feet long. If you have any further questions, please contact us at 1-866-720-2076. Thank you and have a great day.
