It was the perfect replacement for my upper element for my Marathon water heater. Because it's copper, the old one was corroded and stopped working. A titanium version would be better.

The upper heating element rusted through in 4 1/2 years causing tripped circuit breakers, overheating and air in the hot water line. The lower element is made of titanium , the upper element is made of copper and was the reason for failure. I would not recommend this if you have hard water. The upper should be made of titanium as well.
