great deal with nj first energy / jcp&l rebate
dehumidifier without heat loss bonus in northeast summer. flood detection feature means plan on having all plumbing and drainage sorted before you fill and run it to include condensate. probubly obvious but as humid as it is here the options where drain and raise or dry what you can and wait it out. the latter means remember to hold alarm reset for 5 secs to disable less then every 24 hours. Otherwise it closes the valve at the bottom and no hot water.

Rheem Performance Platinum Proterra 65 Gal Hybrid Water Heater
Huge fan! I just installed this myself and love this product. I highly recommend to everyone. This will save up th $400 annually in electricity cost plus the free biproduct is a 10" outlet of air conditioning. I will be ducting this up to my second floor office for some extra AC since my office is hot in the summer. Check out the Energy Guide (yellow sticker) on the side of the unit. The average annual cost is $155. My old 40 gallon unit says $555 per year.

    Great Water Heater
This was my first water heater installation and it couldn’t have been any easier. We’ve had the Rheem hybrid water heater for two weeks now with ZERO issues. We are very excited to see lower power bills; going to compare with last years power bills. We highly recommend the Rheem water heater!

    Plumbing solid, controls are nuts
At times, the app will indicate that the setting is at 110 (the bottom) even though the schedule says it should be higher. The app and how it controls it is just too laggy, and not worth the trouble to get yelled at by my wife every 4 days. Sometime the range says 0 to 100 instead of 110 to 140. 10% we wake up with no hot h2o, because of it's setting, even though the schedule says it should be 130. Unselecting "run sched" and reselecting resets it, then wait 30 minutes on high demand.

      Leaked out of the box
Leaked at first fill from the lower element. Rheem's warranty procedure requires you to pay the plumber that you must find, wait for a check to clear and provide the cleared check, invoice, and purchase receipt to an online portal. Honestly, I think they expect you to forget and never to submit, like rebates. In retrospect it would have been quicker to disconnect and haul back to Home Depot. Once fixed, it is a good water heater and efficient.

5 Stars / But things to know.
Installed this 50 gal. hot water heater. Took a little longer cause I had to relocate my water lines. Spent about 300 in extra parts. Built a 18" base to sit on as had to get over the sill on outer garage wall to pipe in drain. Also bought a drain pan, plumbed the drain and condensation line out side. Added an disconnect box and Expansion tank. The water heater don't need these extras unless you check your building codes. BUT ether way if you plan toe sell your home or in the future you may want to add this in. As a youtuber put it, Most home inspections don't always use codes. They simply put it down that you don't have it and snap a photo and detail a list on missing things. WIFi and energy savings are what sold me as well as most reviews on these water heaters are very good at saving the money and with payback saving over time. Now for the things to know. 1) its a little noisy, but not loud, More like the average Refrigerator 2) Condensation drain 3) Wish I would have gotten the S model, that has the sensor shut off. 4) if installing in closet need to vent the water heater, & more supplies needed. 5) note the lines are on the side of the tank. 6) You need to clean the filter on the heat pump, similar to a A/C unit or dehumidifier If you don't know plumbing or electric best to call a pro to do the job. Ask more questions at the home depot, and if they can't call a plumber or watch some YouTube videos There are many there that explain, but most just give their in put. Not step by step. So you need to be handy.

          Super Quiet and Efficient
I don't know how anybody can hear this from their garage unless they live in a home with paper thin walls. My old tank was rated at 13.07 KWH per day and I am currently at 2.44. Installation was medium for difficulty as I had to remove the wires and put longer wires in due to the tank being further away from my wall. There are three lines, hot outlet in the middle of the tank, cold outlet at the very bottom and condensation drain line in the middle of the tank. It took two of us to get it out of the truck and then dolly it into position. I bought the extended warranty hoping that it will not be needed. I've attached a picture of the app showing my first six days of usage.

            Very loud
Bought this because of the energy savings and it was rated at 49db when running. It was very loud after installing and I measure the sound level. It's about 61 dB at 3 feet. It's right next to my home office and it's so annoying when it kicks on. If it's installed in a garage or some other sound proof room it would probably be a good buy.

Great greener option if you you don’t like on demand solutions.
Great choice for replacing gas boiler, both for avoiding rising gas prices and for ability to harness the warm air in the south for greener heating. Definitely a cost associated with converting from gas, but even in early spring I can feel the cooling effect in garage. Love that heat from just driven car is recycled to the water heater (vs permeating through bonus room). I was a little surprised that garden tub takes the available hot water into red, so glad I took 65 over 50, so certainly something to consider when you size yours. On the noise level. Like any HVAC, when it runs the Heat Pump you can hear it. Not loud enough to drown conversation in garage, but it’s noticeable even in (quiet) study immediately inside from garage. But that only runs some of the time, and the downside of harvesting heat from air. Still quieter than average wall a/c I have encountered. Time will tell if this uses the $144 per year VW the $30 per month the gas was costing (before recent price hikes). But on paper this is way cheaper after you save back the cost to buy and install.
