A: Hi larry.
Thanks for asking! The batteries in Ring devices are designed to go months between charges under normal conditions. However, real battery life is dependent on a number of factors, such as local weather, the number of events captured, and the frequency of activation. This article will cover some of the factors that could cause your battery to require more frequent recharging: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/208190773-The-Battery-In-My-Ring-Device-Seems-to-Drain-Too-Fast.

A: Hi Jeff.
Great question! Alarm Pro is designed to be the primary router, or gateway, for your home. It should not be added to an existing wifi network. Visit our support center for more information: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/4402638066452-Ring-Jobsite-Security.

Impressive
Ring Jobsite Security Stick Up Cam
The Ring construction (Orange) security camera has really impressed us with it’s 1080P color and wide angle lens. The camera mounting is both easy and secure, coupled with a solar panel , it’s worry free, and always charged - (does not come with the solar panel, we added this ourselves) We can drive away knowing that our home/site is covered from unwanted individuals wandering through. The ability to receive a notice on the phone is certainly a plus as well as the ability to tell the “unwanted” persons to leave and still have a great image of who they are. Also, the ability to easily move the camera to different location is great.. of course the features are battery backup, microphone, motion sensor, and is wall mountable. The field of view is 130 degrees. It’s weight a mere one pound and measures approximately 2 in D x 3 in H x 2 in W. All in all, a great device for security purposes.
The ring camera is a great addition to your security setup. Although this particular model is for the job site security kit (by being orange), it integrated perfectly with my ring Home Security setup. I chose to go with the orange version as I wanted something that stood out and to let people know that there was a camera there. The battery charges via USB micro cable, which is included. The only downside is you have to fully remove the battery from the camera to charge it, as the charging port is on the topside of the battery. The camera can be used on its little stand, or the stand can be removed and be reattached to the back side of the housing as a vertical wall mount.
We've attached our camera to a tree outside of the house covering the whole front of our house, which provides perfect coverage of one of our blind spots. Integrating the camera to the Ring Home setup was as simple as scanning the QR code on the inside of the camera and linking it with the current Ring account. Everything synced up perfectly and the camera was added as one of our available cameras in the menu within 5 minutes. Since it is battery operated there is a bit of a delay between it recognizing movement and when it actually starts recording. However by linking the cameras together with another camera I was able to mitigate this issue, because as soon as the main camera found motion it turned on and activated the side camera. As with all my other Ring products, everything seems to be made of top quality and is just so easy to use. I highly recommend this camera for anyone that's trying to expand their Ring alarm system.
I live in a somewhat remote area and although it’s unlikely someone will try to sneak around my property and try to burglarize my house, it’s almost impossible anyone would see them if they did. That being the case, I like to have cameras set up around my property. I have some other Ring cameras but I decided to order this Ring Jobsite Security Stick Up Cam Battery, Orange because of the color so if anyone does come around, it will be more obvious to them that they are on camera. This camera is intended to be a “jobsite” camera but I don’t see any reason you couldn’t use it at home so it will be more visible to any potential intruders. Since I have other Ring cameras, I was able to compare this “jobsite” camera to regular Ring cameras and I couldn’t really determine any differences other than the color. I already subscribe to Ring Protect Plus so this camera was added seamlessly to my Ring app and it worked perfectly after setup. I’ve found the video quality of this camera to be very good and the audio is fair. This camera can be mounted securely but since I put this camera on a second story porch, I have not secured it at all. I will probably do that before any severe weather since a strong wind could probably knock it over. As with my other Ring cameras, I am happy with the video quality and how easy it is to integrate with my Ring system. I would definitely recommend this camera as long as you’re okay with the color.
I've tried several different brands of internet security cameras and have read some rather harsh reviews of the Ring family of cameras. But, I have found them to be incredibly simple and work quite well for my needs. The only thing I won't know for some time, is durability.
I specifically chose this camera for my messy back yard to compliment the Ring devices I already had. I also LIKE the bright orange color as, any thief entering my back yard contemplating breaking into my house is sure to notice that s/he is being recorded right then and there.
What I found really great about this Ring Stick Up Cam was two things: Battery operated with great battery life so far and, it is so simple to set up and mount. It is very easy to relocate this camera as needed, which is what it was designed for.
What I found that I wasn't as pleased about but didn't deter me from buying Ring security equipment is:
1) You have to subscribe to a Ring internet plan in order to have any recordings saved. You can't save video or still images locally. But, the Ring annual plan isn't very expensive and, there is value in having video stored to the cloud in case a thief removes or destroys the camera. And, the Ring plan allows me to set the camera to person only notifications so that the herd of neighbors cats that call my backyard home aren't setting off my intruder notifications constantly.
2) you cannot mount it to a ceiling or overhead structure without purchasing a specialized mounting. I found the ceiling mount to be as simple and easy to install as the mount provided with the camera.
I set this up in a hurry and set it inside a back window initially even though I've long been told that motion sensors won't work reliably and effectively through glass. I found that I got a fantastic view of my entire back yard instantaneously set on the window sill that way. But, after dark, all I got was some sort of reflected image which I assume to be the IR lighting.
I purchased the ceiling mount and moved the camera out onto my pergola which solved all of that. And, easily to boot. But, I did find that my wifi signal isn't strong enough once I moved the camera outdoors That is on me though. I'm upgrading my wifi as I write this.
Overall, I think this works quite well in many cases and offers features not available in competing products.
I have 3 ring stick up cams. Easy to install. All work great.

Great Product, Uses Are Endless
Great Product, Nice App Features, Clear Wide View Day or Night Camera, Good Sound Quality, Privacy Control, Weather Resistant, Two-Way Talk, Live View, Motion Activated, The Uses are endless since the Ring can be used indoors or outdoors and is basically mobile. You can permanently mount or move as need, depending on area you want to secure, from watching the back yard or children in the house, or security while out of town. I decided to try it in the back yard because every evening our dog is barking non-stop at something until we bring her in. I was amazed at how clear the night vision pictures are without the spotlight coming on. Once she activated the motion lights, you clearly see everything. You can talk through the camera or hit siren to scare off any intruders or raccoons. I took pictures but you can drag the live view and scan the area.
You need to download the Ring App to set-up following the directions on the screen. I already have the Ring App on my iPhone, so I just had to add a device, scan the QR code on the product. You decide the physical placement from inside the home or outside. It can be mounted on a shelf, a wall (inside or outside) or on the ceiling (inside or outside). The mounting bracket swivels and is made to handle all these choices. You can have shared users. You can link your other Ring Products together. I linked it to the Ring chime. Set up is very easy, Ring guides you through every step on your iPhone, or computer. Absolutely love this product. Highly Recommend!
I recently switch my home security over to Ring and I am a big fan. Not only is it far cheaper than other alternatives the technology is light years ahead. The camera only takes about 30 seconds to set and seamlessly integrates into both the Ring app and Alexa as well. The camera provides a clear image to easily see what is going on. Motion alerts can easily be set up and all activity is recorded to the cloud to view anywhere in the world.
This is a very good quality CMOS HD 1080p camera. Light exposure management is very good which helps with those installations that may partially face a setting or rising sun and/or light sources during the night.
The camera has 2-way talk function, audio if crisp and clear both ways.
It has customizable zones for motion triggering which are based of 3 PIR sensors that cover more than the 130° field view.
The discernible distance at which you can read a license plate during night time is not more than 30 ft.
Data transfer and link to cloud or Ring Pro station is done at 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n, with service notification in case of signal disruption. Generally, wifi devices are prone to RF interference but I think Ring did outstanding job managing the isolating of a channel between the base and a camera. In a situation, where you only use a camera, you will still get a prompt for disrupted connectivity due to tampering, low power in the side of the device or no connectivity on the side of the router.
The camera's operating temperature range is -5°F to 122°F (-20° to 50°C) which is more of a limitation of the battery. Lower temperatures substantially decrease battery life, so you may need to recharge more often.
In my case the batter lasted about a month installed where I'd get about 10 events in a day, and another that I installed previously with about 2-3 events in a day lasts about 3-4 months.
Batteries are easy to remove and charge and all it takes is a standard charger and the provided standard micro usb cable. The batteries have indicators for charging mode and full.
When paired with a solar light, battery life increases drastically, it is pretty much plug and forget at this point, regardless of the temperatures outside.
The third generation of this camera comes with much improved management features, such as customizable zones, better lens and sound, better insulation from the elements and improved PIR detection during night time.
At this price at HD it is a must have, it can be used as an element of an upgradable system with the Pro base including the Eero router version, or standalone using the app.
With sufficient wifi coverage it can very well service as a service van monitoring system. Using it at a job site is very easy and intuitive, and in my opinion, it is a must if you're taking more than a few hours to a few days to complete a project.
It is also a great monitoring tool and it can provide immediate review on jobsite progress and task management.
I think the real advantage to this camera comes when paired with other elements of the Ring system, and with the Ring Pro subscription. It is somewhat expensive per year, but the advantages are so many, including free LTE connection, limitless upgradeability and the possibility to layer and customize the system to handle both management and security tasks.
With online ordering it comes in a separate package, well insulated on all sides.
I have 1st generation camera, and like it. But this stick up camera has so many great features. First the color is noticeable so even with a sign notifying that security cameras are present, you can see it. You can see and speak to people with is camera, and you can adjust motion areas for the best coverage. I like that the battery can be taken out to charge and you don't have to remove the whole camera. Comes with charging cable.
