We just purchased these and we absolutely love it! Gives you a great amount of coverage and the resolution on them is amazing day or night! It has a light you can’t switch and a horn alarm you can activate instantly and lasts about 30 seconds.

My project got off to a slow start when I discovered that what I thought was a faulty light fixture I was going to replace with this Ring camera turned out to be a total loss of power that I was unable to trace so I spent considerable time fishing new wires through walls. After that it was totally downhill... provided in the installation kit were numerous types of mounting plates with an assortment of dozens of different type screws... someone spent some time trying to cover as many possibilities as possible. Software download and setup were also rather painless but the software itself is a little buggy yet as it often "hangs" but simply closing and reopening the program always works. I was impressed by the motion detection being sensitive enough to pickup my cat at a good 30 ft and yet have no evidence of any false triggers. The LED floodlights are impressively bright and programmable for duration time. Here's a link for anyone curious enough to see how it "notices" my cat that I had no idea went on adventures way after bedtime: https://ring.com/share/6546041208679122029

Needed a first line defense to try and discourage anyone from jumping into our backyard fence when our dog is indoors or when away so we decided to install this RING SPOTLIGHT CAM MOUNT OUTDOOR SMART SURVEILLANCE CAMERA, WHITE (Wired) and it's everything as advertised. Clear pictures, voice transmitting and with wi-fi virtually anywhere in the world, we pretty much can monitor our property via app access 24x7. Easy install and now we have it paired with our RIng Doorbell so we have both front door and our patio door monitored. Very versatile with options to customize motion zones. Refreshing that inside the box, they have included pretty much all the necessary hardware for a clean install. Great product and we highly recommend this to friends and family.

First off let me state that I'm a huge Ring fan. I'm betting there are a few sharks on Shark Tank wishing they had got in when they had a chance ;o) This new edition to the Ring home security Spotlight Camera's is perfect for anyplace that you already have an existing outlet or lighting fixture and you want to replace it with a security camera. I wish they had come out with this a little sooner. I have their other spotlight camera that comes with a real long extension cord and I love it. The downside of it was I mounted it directly in the middle of my three car garage and I had to drill a very large hole above my garage door in that big thick header in order to run the prong of the cord through it and it was kind of a pain and didn't look very good when I got done. We had some outlets installed on our house for Christmas tree lights and all I had to do to mount this was figure out which of the three mounting covers best matched the angle I wanted to mount the camera at and away I went. As you can see in the pictures it is perfectly mounted under the eave where it is out of the rain and looks like it was professionally installed and like it was meant to be there all along. I personally think this is a better application for installing a security camera then the extension cord version but I guess there are applications for both now. The picture quality of the this Ring camera if fantastic with 1080 HD video & two-way talk. It also has configurable motion detection to where you can tell it to look at certain areas or exclude certain areas so that it doesn't pick up a tree swaying in the wind or something else that might trigger the camera falsely. This has been fantastic for the one on the front of the garage. I was able to eliminate some trees on the edge of the garage which were triggering it along with traffic out on the road. It's super easy to setup by simply dragging your finger over the screen telling it what areas to look at and which areas to ignore in the app. I also like that you can zoom in on a "live view" or on a recorded video to get a closer look at something. This camera also comes with motion activated spotlights which are very, very bright. I have LED spotlights on the front of my garage and the lights built into this camera are just as bright as they are. They are perfect for when walking up the front steps to the front door. You can set the length of how long they stay on for in the app. This camera also has infrared night vision which works fantastic. I can see my whole front steps with the one camera in pitch black darkness and the one over the garage lights up the driveway perfectly so I can see all the animals creeping around in the dark. There is also a 110-db security siren built into this thing which I like a lot but to be honest it's not that loud but might scare someone off but I'm kind of doubting it. I've set mine off on purpose a few times just messing with people during a house party and they were not to impressed. You can go into the app and set it off which is a nice feature if you are not at home and you see someone creeping around. At least they would know they were being watched and might leave. When it comes to installation let me just say "read the illustrated book" first before trying to install. Me being of the male species didn't think I needed instructions but I couldn't figure out how to get the camera to mount to the cover until I read the directions. Once I read them which took maybe two minutes I was good to go. Ring put a lot of thought into the directions and they make it dummy proof if you take the time to glance over them. I love the fact that they are all wireless over wifi. I think the days of hardwiring 100 ft. runs of cable for security cameras have come and gone. On my internet at home I had download speeds of 240 mbps and upload speeds of 12 mbps. I recently upgraded to gigabit speeds where I download at 960 mbps and upload at 35 mbps and I noticed a huge change in how fast I can view video clips or go to the "live view" on my cameras. If you have real slow internet speeds you may be a little disappointed with how long things take but that is only based on my perception of my internet speeds I have had. If you are looking for a wireless security camera I would definitely look at the complete line of the Ring cameras and doorbell cameras. They are all fantastic and I can't wait to see what products Ring comes out with next.

RING products are the best! I just got this hardwired to my patio electric box. So easy to set up with the Ring app on your cellphone. It detects a wide range of motion day or night (which you can adjust). The LED lights come on as soon as motion is detected at night and notifies your phone with an HD video. The length that lights stay on can be set from 1 to 15 minutes and the brightness is also adjustable. It has a two-way talk button and also a siren you can set off if there is a problem -- quite loud! To me this is a home security 'must have'.

My Sons; (who are grown, I am a great-grandfather) both want one of their own now... I got this because I am an old man living alone, and it is a crazy world. I installed it over my front door, where the ceiling porch light was, I just made sure to cut the breaker, tape over the light switch first, and use a volt meter in case of a wild ground somewhere, (just trying to cut down on the Wile E. Coyote moments), the connection was very simple I used the round base (it comes with several different photo attached) connected the black to black wire and the white to white wire and capped off the red wire (you will not need to use that wire in a single light install) and used machine screws that fit my existing electrical box to hold the base, (also comes with weather seals). The hardest part was making sure it was pointed the direction I wanted, (which was the approach to my front door and the area around my front porch) so before I even installed it, I downloaded the RING application for android and installed it; then I temporally wired the ring camera to a cord (did I mention Wile E. Coyote moments), this allowed me to complete setup of the application before installing the spotlight camera in its permanent location. This temp rigging also allowed me to figure out exactly (not on the top of a ladder) how to place the camera in the base so I could do the final fine tuning after it was installed, and allowed me to use the phone to see if I was getting things right. Warning, do not use the voice function during this phase, the feedback is horrible if you are on a ladder under the camera and phone in hand. I then ran it through its paces, set off the alarm (which is also fairly loud) tried the lights, and I was very pleased. I feel it is important to let you know there is a reason I am nick named ChiefNerd I am a computer person by profession so the whole WiFi setup etc. was a non issue with me but it has been a stumbling block for some. My Home WiFi has a strong signal for at least a block (yep a block I can still get a strong signal at the end of the "cul-de-sac" where the community mail box is). So the biggest con I can think of is... now I have to help the kids install them on their homes, our oldest is going to install four, he wants full coverage, guess he wants to be able to remotely talk to anyone on his property period. I love technology when it works right, and this does. Yea I know $30 a year to get a cloudish DVR service, (Note it works without the service, it just cuts down on your recording options) and is that really a big deal? I have spent more on breakfast taquitos, and I love the peace of mind and access to my home, it just makes me feel so much safer.
