As a default setting, the lights on the Spotlight Cam Battery will only turn on for Motion Events when it's dark, but you are able to turn this setting off. A:  Hello Cary, Great question! This device features PIR motion sensors that cover a slightly wider area than the camera’s field of view. The PIR sensors identify visitors by a moving heat signature and sending a signal to your smart device when it detects one. Since PIRs look for heat, if a warm object is too small, it won’t be detected. However, if a warm non-human object is large enough, you might get a false notification.
