Love this heater, heats the sunroom I built so I can use it in the winter. Rinnai makes great products.

On our main floor, we heat with a pellet stove, but both of the lower level bedrooms have one of these Rinnai 8k BTU propane heaters. We've had one of the 2 Rinnais installed for several years, and I just installed the second. The outdoors propane piping is a major hassle, but the actual work required to set up one of these is minimal--cut a hole in the wall and follow some simple directions. Any semi-experienced DIY person should have no trouble getting that part done in an afternoon or less. Rinnai is pricey, but they are also absolutely fantastic units> Rinnai is superior to what we replaced (the brand was Eskabe, since renamed Ashley, but whatever they call themselves, they are incredibly awful). The only complaint I have is that if you run into trouble, Rinnai is notoriously DIY unfriendly. If you call them, they won't give you the time if day. I installed a high-end Rheem tankless water heater, which is an infinitely more challenging task as compared to installing a direct vent heater. Rheem is incredibly DIY friendly, and will help with any problems you might have. As a DIY'er, I would never buy a Rinnai tankless water heater, since you are much more likely to need assistance with such an installation. But, a heater like the one under review is pretty much plug and play, so if you can handle the propane issues, you should have no trouble.

The heater is working perfectly. One note, if you think you want to have a wall thermostat hooked to the heater (a good idea!) you should buy the accessory to hook it up before you finish the install as it is much easier at that time

Love this unit, but it is difficult to install.
