About This Product

Rubber-Cal's Neoprene rubber is a tough elastomer sheet that is ideal for industrial applications. Our industrial neoprene is actually a synthetic rubber compound, made with a 10% neoprene rubber base and a blend of styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) and chloroprene rubber (CR) to give it the strength of both rubber materials. This mix of synthetic elastomers gives the rubber neoprene moderate resistance to oils, chemicals, and many damaging effects of weather. The rubber neoprene holds up against acetic acids, petroleum-based solvents, and certain oils and chemicals without showing wear for a long time. Neoprene rubber is also highly valued in outdoor applications, as it can withstand UV rays, ozone, and damaging weather effects. Our solid rubber sheets offer excellent all-around resistance, making it versatile enough for indoor and outdoor applications alike. Another key feature of this neoprene blend is its intense temperature range and resistance. The sheet neoprene performs well in temperatures from -20°F to 212°F, which makes it the ideal choice for most industrial applications. This 1/8 in. sheet rubber is one of the thinner options available and works best for delicate or detailed applications. The 50A durometer neoprene is strong yet pliable, making it versatile enough for any application from insulation to industrial gasketing. This thin neoprene is the ideal industrial elastomer sheeting.

Can this be used to make weather seals for bypass sliding barn doors?
    ByJan 20, 2026
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

Hi John, Thank you for your question! Yes, this 50A durometer neoprene rubber sheet can be used to create weather seals for bypass sliding barn doors. The material offers good flexibility along with moderate weather and ozone resistance, which makes it suitable for helping reduce drafts, dust, and light moisture intrusion in this type of application. Because this is a flat sheet with a smooth finish, it is commonly cut into strips and used in DIY sealing, gasketing, and cushioning applications rather than as a pre-formed door seal. Please let us know if you have any other questions! Best, Robert Morris, Rubber-Cal Inc.

I’m building my own egress window cover and want to attach pliable waterproof material at the top and bottom sections. Can this material be attached to wood via screws, or would that harm the integrity of the material’s ability to keep weather out?

      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

Hello Randi, Thank you for your question! Yes, the 50A Neoprene Sheet can be attached to wood using screws. To help maintain the material’s weather-resistant integrity, we recommend using washers with the screws. This helps distribute pressure and prevent tearing, especially in thinner gauges. Neoprene is a flexible and durable rubber with good resistance to weathering, ozone, and moderate oils, which makes it a great choice for outdoor and sealing applications like your egress window cover. It also has a smooth finish and offers excellent elongation and tensile strength, allowing it to flex and adapt without easily cracking or degrading. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out! Best, Robert Morris, Rubber-Cal Inc.

Can this product be used to cover the top of metal shade? Currently in some areas the water is leaking, so instead of coving this with plastic heavy duty tarp, we'd like to use this to cover the roof. Shade size is 8x10, but we will buy multiple pieces.

        Answer This Question

Hello, Thank you for your question! Yes, the 50A Durometer Neoprene Sheet can be used to cover the top of a metal shade. However, we would recommend using EPDM rubber instead. While Neoprene offers moderate resistance to weathering and ozone, EPDM is specifically formulated for outdoor use and provides superior resistance to UV rays, ozone, and harsh weather conditions, making it a more durable and long-lasting option for roofing or shade applications. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out! Best, Robert Morris, Rubber-Cal Inc.

Is this soft enough to squish down to seal a thin stucco like decking against water intrusion with a weighted object on top of it? Is it easy to cut as I need on 1" strips?
          ByMay 16, 2025
          1 Answer |
          Answer This Question

Hello Helen, Thank you for your question! The 50A Neoprene Sheet offers moderate softness and flexibility, which should allow it to compress effectively under weight This is helpful for creating a seal that can assist in preventing water intrusion. With its smooth finish and pliable nature, it’s also easy to cut into narrower strips using a utility knife and a straight edge. Additionally, This material is designed to perform well in a variety of conditions, including outdoor environments, and offers good resistance to weathering and general wear. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out! Best, Robert Morris, Rubber-Cal Inc.

Can this be cut for gasket material? I need a waterproof gasket for the base of outdoor wall light. How much will this compress sandwiched between light base and vinyl mounting block minimal at minimal pressure? Will it degrade black streaks over time?

            1 Answer |
            Answer This Question

Hi Kizthur! Thank you for your inquiry. The 50A Durometer Neoprene Sheet is well-suited to be cut as gasket material and for applications like sealing the base of an outdoor wall light. While we don’t have specific test data on compression, the material is designed to resist compressing under minimal pressure and requires significant force to do so. Please note that, as it is black, there is a possibility it may leave marks over time. Let us know if there’s anything else we can assist you with! Best,

Would this be suitable for a cabinet floor liner that will have minor exposure to propane and oil?
              ByAug 1, 2024
              1 Answer |
              Answer This Question

Hello Gret, Thank you for your inquiry. For a cabinet floor liner that will have minor exposure to propane and oil, we recommend using Nitrile instead of Neoprene. Nitrile is oil and grease resistant, making it more suitable for your needs. Additionally, both materials are comparable in cost. Best regards, Robert Morris Rubber-Cal, Inc.

Can I use this to make a cover for a foam seat?
                ByMay 10, 2024
                1 Answer |
                Answer This Question

Hello Keyla, Thank you for your inquiry. While our 50A Durometer Neoprene Sheet is suitable for various applications, it may not be the best choice for making a cover for a foam seat, as it is not reinforced and may tear when sewn. If you're looking for a material to make a cover for your foam seat, we recommend considering a more durable and reinforced fabric to ensure longevity and resilience. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please feel free to ask. Sincerely, Robert Morris Rubber-Cal

Used it to provide a flexible backstop and space for a oil cooler I installed in front of the Condenser. I simply cut 4 small 1 inch squares (for each corner of the cooler) and stacked them up to provide a 1/2 inch gap. Then I used four zip ties to hold the cooler in place. Worked perfectly, and I have plenty of rubber sheeting left over.

The roll of Neoprene had a permanent belly along its length; which inhibited being used with contact cement to attach it to a butcher block. The store’s customer service rep witnessed the belly that prevented the long strip from being attached to the wood block without ruining both the block and the Neprene. We have redesigned the prototype to use another approach.
