I ordered this foam rubber neoprene sponge initially to use in the creation of some guitar stands that I am in the process of building. I needed foam/rubber that doesn’t have a memory or would not leave a mark or impression after having something heavy set on it for a period of time.
There’s definitely quite a strong smell when I first opened the box, so I opened it and left it in my outdoor shed for about four weeks to allow the smell to go away.
This has worked out really well because the foam/rubber is fairly stiff so it provides good cushion and it does not collapse easily. I’ve trimmed off some pieces for my guitar stand project and adhered it to wood with glue.
The rest of the pad is being used as a workout mat in our basement workout room now since it provides really good cushion and is comfortable to exercise on.

Rubber-Cal's closed cell neoprene is a versatile product. I'm using it as a soft entryway into the crawl space, as a workbench mat, as a yoga pad, and as a knee-pad for tiling.
The closed cell design means it doesn't absorb water. In the short term (20 minutes), it's resistant to wood stain soaking in and discoloring and it wipes and hoses off easily. I was also pleasantly surprised at its relative light weight.
The pad is easy to work with. It came rolled in a box but quickly laid flat and was easily cut to size with a 3" blade at a 45 degree angle.
In summary, a good product to protect flooring, dampen sound and reduce strain on knees and feet when standing for long periods of time.

I have recently had surgery and needed to incorporate a lot of floor stretching. All the floor mats i have tried were too thin and hurt my tailbone. This sheet or mat rather, is just the ticket. I love that it is waterproof as well so i am able to spray and wipe clean. I know this isn't the intent of this product, but it really works well for my back. I was also afraid it would have a smell, but it is also odorless.Great buy.

I questioned why this product was in the "gym flooring" section when I ordered it, and I ordered it with my fingers crossed. It's neoprene. It's good closed-cell neoprene; I have no idea how to precision-cut it without a butcher knife, it makes a fantastic and fantastically expensive yoga mat, but it is not gym flooring. You know neoprene, so this is not some super-engineered version of neoprene that won't rip under serious weight and sheer.
I used a fixed blade straight-razor-style knife with three blood holes at its top, as I stupidly ground away at not understanding why razors can be sharp and low carbon high speed ground steel can't -- but it was as sharp as non-razor steel can get. That said, the smooth blood holes managed to catch some molecule of neoprene, every time, and tore away at it. I prided myself on not using a box cutter, but the only think I can think of to use would be a super-sharp butcher knife with a sudden point and a blade much thicker than 1".
For the OCD. For the rest of you, hack away. My horrile job is still well within my standards -- it's a yoga mat.
1/8" bolts require scissors, no issue with that thickness, and I have no experience with the intermediate thicknesses.

Full inch-thick high quality closed-cell foam mat -- with dozens of applications. I got this primarily to put down when working out to protect our wood floors and dampen any noise, but found it was large enough to cut in half (cuts easily with a razor knife or hot wire) and make a small kneeling mat for working on our deck and another, with notches cut into it, to hold newly assembled golf clubs steady while the epoxy dries. I've got some odds and ends left over to use for padding in the bottom of an old camera hard case that I use when traveling. Great shock absorbing qualities and resistant to moisture and (apparently) some chemicals, as well. Tremendously useful if you need high quality sponge rubber that won't degrade or compact over time. Only downside is it has a bit of odor for a few days, but aired out pretty quickly. Highly recommended.

The Rubber-Cal Closed Cell Sponge Rubber Neoprene 1 in. x 39 in. x 78 in. Black Foam Rubber Sheet provides a very comfortable surface for the feet and leg joints of one who stands in front of a workbench, or similar workplace setting, on concrete or other hard floor surfaces. I did some experimenting with mine, and tried a possibly unusual use, laying on my side on it while painting wooden baseboards. Although this piece in this size and thickness is a bit heavy to repeatedly maneuver, it proved to be remarkably comfortable, and it definitely alleviated the unpleasant aches I normally feel in knees and hips after laying on my side on the ground for several hours, such as when I am painting baseboard moulding. It also showed no signs of wear after repeatedly dragging it along the floor.

Rubber-Cal closed cell sponge rubber neoprene black foam rubber sheet is a great product. This product could be used for a ton of different things around your home, garage, or anywhere else you can think of. When I first started brainstorming it's use, my grandson was more than happy just jumping up and down on it. The sheet cuts pretty easily (definitely use a straight edge) with a razor blade. This sheet would definitely make a great stress relief mat for your workshop, for laying on under cars, or putting down for children to play on. The sheet is fairly heavy, so while I think it could make a decent outdoor sleeping mat, it's definitely heavier than something you'd want to carry out into the woods.

We are using this large and think rubber mat for multiple uses and it is working out great. We picked a large sheet and cut it into several pieces. Cutting the rubber mat was easily accomplished with a razor knife and a straight edge. The main use for the mat is as flooring to act as cushioning in front of the work bench. The mat lays solidly on the floor and does not move and the inch thickness provides more than enough comfort and support. The other use is for a mat to lay on when changing oil under the cars. So much nicer than laying on the concrete floor!. And the final use is as knee pads when pulling weeds in the yard and laying flooring.

This Rubber-Cal closed cell sponge rubber neoprene 1 in. x 39 in. x 78 in. black foam rubber sheet has apparently been developed for a myriad of industrial applications. When I look at it I think of when my kids were all little and playing on a cold hard concrete floor in the basement and what a difference this sponge rubber neoprene sheet would have made. It is thick enough to stop the cold and just the right firmness to soften a fall but retain structural integrity so all the miniature farm animals wouldn't all fall over, as well. It is water proof, stain proof and easy to move around. However, it does have an odor but maybe airing it out would take care of that. Great product!

A very dense, high quality foam rubber mat which bounces back immediately from a 210# footprint. It is a true 1 inch thick and cleans very easily with a broom or vacuum. I used in my shop and the photos show sawdust on the mat before and after just sweeping with a broom. Because of the thickness, I do recommend using a transition molding around the edges to prevent tripping as the edges are not beveled on the mat and do not cut easily. Also, an initial cleaning with a mild soap and water is recommended as the mat comes from the factory with a coating which will transfer to your feet and make walking on a smooth surface (in my case, tile floor) rather slippery. It is very comfortable to work on for hours reducing back fatigue. 5 Stars
