About This Product

EPDM sheet rubber is a versatile blended sheet composed of Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer and Styrene Butadiene Rubber. It achieves an ideal balance to create an all-purpose, weather resistant rubber. For this reason, EPDM material is an excellent medium for outdoor uses. Furthermore, other benefits include great pliability and elasticity. It is easy to see that EPDM rubber is the premier outdoor rubber. The special properties of EPDM sheet rubber allow it to withstand chemicals in addition to weather-related hazards such as UV rays and ozone. As a weather resistant rubber, this EPDM sheet rubber is commonly used in industrial applications and machinery that are exposed to the elements. Damage from rainstorms, pollution, and the sun will occur at a slower rate compared to a fully exposed EPDM rubber when compared to other elastomers like SBR, Nitrile or Neoprene. EPDM rubber has adequate elastic and pliable qualities. The material has a durometer of Shore 55-65A but on average, has a Shore 60A measurement. A Shore A scale measures the hardness of the rubber. For example, a soft pencil eraser has a durometer of Shore 20A. Although higher than an eraser, the durometer of EPDM still maintains a good amount of flexibility for all of your necessary projects. In addition, EPDM rubber has a minimum elongation of 300%.

Highlights

  • EPDM is a black weather resistant rubber that is ideal as an outdoor liner or pad
  • All-purpose rubber provides outstanding resistance to weathering, ozone and UV exposure, gasket, bumper and general exterior applications
  • Medium durometer (55-65) sheet rubber offers good pliability and elasticity
  • EPDM can operate in temperatures between -40 F to 212 F
  • EPDM rubber sheet has a tensile strength 725 PSI or 5 MPA
  • EPDM has a durometer rating of 60, making it one of the more physically durable and flexible rubbers available
  • A blend of Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) as well as SBR makes this rubber sheet a 60 durometer neoprene that is very physically durable

Can I lay this on a low pitch new roof
    ByDec 14, 2025

    Answer This Question

Hello Dean, Thank you for your question! The EPDM 60A rubber sheet you mentioned is durable, flexible, and resistant to weather, UV, and ozone, so it could be used on a low-pitch roof. However, these sheets are only 3 feet wide, so for roofing applications people often prefer larger rolls or sheets designed specifically for roofing to minimize seams and make installation easier. EPDM sheets like this are commonly used for gaskets, bumpers, weather seals, and other exterior applications, and they can provide good protection when properly installed. Please let us know if you need any additional information or assistance. Best, Robert Morris, Rubber-Cal Inc.

Is this product good for covering wood curbs on roof?
        ByApr 12, 2024
        1 Answer |
        Answer This Question

Dear Eric, Thank you for your inquiry. While our EPDM Rubber Sheets offer excellent UV resistance and are commonly used in the roofing industry, it's essential to note that our rolls are only 36 inches wide. Covering wood curbs on a roof with our EPDM sheets may result in multiple seams, potentially creating a barrier that is not entirely watertight. Traditional EPDM roofing membranes typically come in wider widths, ranging from 10 to 20 feet, to minimize seams and ensure optimal waterproofing. While our EPDM Rubber Sheets may still offer some level of protection, we recommend consulting with a roofing professional to determine the best solution for covering wood curbs on your roof. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please feel free to reach out. We're here to help. Sincerely, Robert Morris Rubber-Cal

          Answer This Question

Hello LCGRACE, Thank you for your inquiry regarding the use of Rubber-Cal EPDM Commercial Grade 60A Rubber Sheet under a deck to create a dry space. We appreciate your interest in our products and your project's requirements. While it is possible to staple the EPDM Commercial Grade 60A Rubber Sheet under a deck to create a dry space initially, we'd like to provide you with some insights into its long-term durability in such an application. EPDM rubber, while flexible and weather-resistant, may not be the most suitable choice for this specific use case. Over time, the rubber sheet may experience wear and tear, which can lead to tearing, especially if it's subjected to frequent foot traffic or other forms of stress. For a more durable and long-lasting solution to create a dry space under your deck, we recommend considering a material like Rubber-Cal Cloth Inserted Sheet. We understand the importance of ensuring the longevity and effectiveness of your project, and we want to assist you in making the best choice for your specific needs. If you have any more questions or require further guidance, please feel free to reach out. We're here to help you find the right solution for your under-deck dry space project. Sincerely, Robert Morris Rubber-Cal, Inc.

Can you paint this rubber sheet?

            Answer This Question

Hello Frances, thank you for your inquiry. We are not sure whether painting would work on our EDPM Commercial Grade 60A Rubber Sheet. The only advice we have is to not use an oil-based paint, as this will degrade the rubber.

Could this be used as tree bands to prevent squirrels from climbing? Is it smooth or could squirrel grab onto it?

                Answer This Question

Hello, It is possible to use the EPDM Commercial Grade 60A Rubber Sheet as a tree band to prevent squirrels from climbing. Please note that we do not have any data to back up the use of this material for that purpose. It is very smooth but squirrels have sharp claws which could dig into the product for traction. Our EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) and SBR (styrene butadiene rubber) blended sheet is a black-colored sheet rubber that provides very good resistance to weathering, ozone, UV exposure. It is available with a smooth finish. Sincerely, Robert Morris

EPDM 1/16 in. x 36 in. x 288 in. Commercial Grade 60A Rubber Sheet from Rubber Cal is a PREMIUM product that meets and exceeds expectations While it is marketed as an industrial product, we have found it very applicable in our residential setting for various unique needs. We purchased a manufactured home last year in the mountains of Arizona with lots of rain and snow environmental challenges. We found the flexibility and sturdiness a much needed answer to leaks at transition locations. It was easy to work with and we recommend this fine product.

This is very heavy duty impermeable membrane that I've been looking for on my wife's future potting shed. It will go under the exterior porch deck I'm going to build to prevent moisture, etc and any weeds from growing up under the decking. I wish I knew about it two years ago when I was looking for something to prevent moisture from wicking up under a foundation. I also wish I had it to wrap the bottom outside sheathing of a storage shed I built to stop moisture infiltration. It's perfect for that and will be building a new shed on my property this year and will use it on that. If I were a commercial builder and need a moisture preventer, this is the material to use.

Large roll of rubber sheeting. This is a big roll. Yes, it's actually 24 feel long and 3 feet wide. The material is a semi glossy, black, sticky feeling and solid piece of flooring. It comes with a clear plastic backing that doesn't have any adhesive - it sticks to the flooring with static and pulls off easily. I think the sticky feeling will go away with use. The stickiness comes from how clean and dust free the material is. The color is a deep black - almost tarry look. There is no texture on either side, it's very smooth. There's a gloss to the material - more like a semi gloss. One odd thing is that there's a smell, which reminds me of cigarette smoke. I know it's not and must come from the manufacturing process, but it's something that I did notice. The uses for this material is virtually unlimited. I planned on using it for the base material of the floor of my old Alfa Romeo cars. The original material is a ridged rubber floor, but after 50 years, the material has deteriorated, so there are cracks and chunks missing. My idea was to use this material as a sound deadening base that would be placed directly on the floor pans. Then I'd use the ridged material for the top layer. The ridged material is similar to the original. After receiving the roll of flooring, I thought of many other uses. I think this would make a great gasket, rubber seal for a garden hose, a waterproof cover, safety flooring for areas that are wet, etc. I look forward to using this roll for many, many, many projects. It's a wonderful material that I'm glad I now have. I highly recommend this rubber sheet roll!

This rubber has a ton of uses! It is 1/16" thick, 36" wide and incredibly durable. For it's thickness it is very easy work with. It works well as a water / weather tight membrane liner that is well suited for outdoor use. Additionally, it works very well for sound deadening. It can stretch a bit, maybe 30% or so and still return to its normal size. This rubber has come in very handy on several occasions and I just keep finding more uses for it. Overall a fantastic product!

This rubber-cal EPDM commercial grade 60A rubbert sheet is what we needed to use on the roof of our older mobile home. We've only experience one leak so far, but using this EPDM rubber sheeting gave us the ability to seal the area that was leaking and other similar areas to prevent more leaks in volnerable areas. At 1/16th inch thick, it can be maneuvered around and cut, but still has weight to it. Once installed, we coated the black rubber sheeting with a white EPDM coating so it matched the rest of the roof. This will work well until we can put a new roof on.

You can easy brush it and use soap. Back is the perfect color for using in the garage and workshop so you won't notice the dirt. Good quality sheet that I used to cover my entire crawlspace. I initially was thinking to use a thin poly sheet but this is easier to lay down overlapping the edges and covering with black duck tape. It comes rolled tightly with thin poly in between so it's easy to roll it out without sticking. It's easy to clean by wiping or hosing it down.

I needed this rubber sheeting as a cover for my electronics work bench. Not only does it help control static but also works well as a damper for dropped objects. Electronics can be very susceptible to hard knocks. The rubber is also a life saver when one drops one of those small screws found on electronic equipment as the screws only make a small bounce rather than careening off the table. There are many uses for this stuff. I am always finding more applications. Well worth keeping some on hand.

I used this rubber EPDM to line my vegetable garden between the treated landscape timbers and the garden soil. It should help the wood to last longer before rotting. The rubber is nice and thick and will not tear. It needs a razor blade box cutter to cut through the thickness. I would recommend this versatile rubber sheeting for all kinds of projects.

This is a review of Rubber Cal's 1/16" x 36" x 24 ft roll of Grade 60A EPDM "rubber sheet". I measured the nominal thickness at 0.066" and 0.048" when compressed at 20 psi. I measured its density at 0.5 lbs/sq ft. This stuff is highly uniform/consistent. With the correct choice and application of adhesive or sealant, this material has a host of applications. I will be slitting the roll into 3" strips and applying as a joist tape before laying my new deck down; not only will it protect the joist from sitting water damage, it will cushion the feel under foot.

This Rubber Commercial Grade Rubber sheet is very high grade of rubber commercial sheeting. It can be used for many things. This is mainly used for roofing needs to prevent leakage and to act as a temporary protection until you can get your roof fixed and other commercial needs. Storm damage a possibility? This product would be ideal to have in your garage for just in case to cover up roof leaks. It is weather resistant rubber and can be used in weather temperatures from 40 below to 212 degrees Fahrenheit. You can use it on floor decking, but you would have to glue it down between the plywood and carpet to help with moisture issues. I am using it to prevent grass from coming up from my pool area where I cover it up with river rocks and pea gravel. It may not be what it is designed for but will serve as a great barrier to those weeds coming up through my rocks and pea gravel. As you can see in the pictures attached, I will need to head back to Home Depot for more River rock and pea gravel to complete. I have used something similar before and it will last about 4 years. Very easy to lay down and heavy duty product. This is a very high rated grade of Rubber sheet which is 1/16 inch by 36 inches wide and 24 feet long. It is available in 6 different thicknesses: 1/16", 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 3/8", 1/2". I am looking forward not to have to weed beside my pool area by using this product.
