About This Product

EPDM sheet rubber is a versatile blended sheet composed of Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer and Styrene Butadiene Rubber. It achieves an ideal balance to create an all-purpose, weather resistant rubber. For this reason, EPDM material is an excellent medium for outdoor uses. Furthermore, other benefits include great pliability and elasticity. It is easy to see that EPDM rubber is the premier outdoor rubber. The special properties of EPDM sheet rubber allow it to withstand chemicals in addition to weather-related hazards such as UV rays and ozone. As a weather resistant rubber, this EPDM sheet rubber is commonly used in industrial applications and machinery that are exposed to the elements. Damage from rainstorms, pollution, and the sun will occur at a slower rate compared to a fully exposed EPDM rubber when compared to other elastomers like SBR, Nitrile or Neoprene. EPDM rubber has adequate elastic and pliable qualities. The material has a durometer of Shore 55-65A but on average, has a Shore 60A measurement. A Shore A scale measures the hardness of the rubber. For example, a soft pencil eraser has a durometer of Shore 20A. Although higher than an eraser, the durometer of EPDM still maintains a good amount of flexibility for all of your necessary projects. In addition, EPDM rubber has a minimum elongation of 300%.

Highlights

  • EPDM is a black weather resistant rubber that is ideal as an outdoor liner or pad
  • All-purpose rubber provides outstanding resistance to weathering, ozone and UV exposure, gasket, bumper and general exterior applications
  • Medium durometer (55-65) sheet rubber offers good pliability and elasticity
  • EPDM can operate in temperatures between -40 F to 212 F
  • EPDM rubber sheet has a tensile strength 725 PSI or 5 MPA
  • EPDM has a durometer rating of 60, making it one of the more physically durable and flexible rubbers available
  • A blend of Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) as well as SBR makes this rubber sheet a 60 durometer neoprene that is very physically durable

Q:Are these rubber sheets self stick and is it a good application for exterior around windows under siding ??
by|Mar 14, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Hello, Yes the EPDM Commercial Grade 60A Rubber Sheet would work just fine for the application around the window. Unfortunately these rubber sheets do not come with self stick, but we recommend using double sided carpet tape for installation. Sincerely, Robert Morris Rubber-Cal, Inc.

    Answer This Question

A:  Hello Cory, Unfortunately, we do not recommend this material to be used as a flooring product. The EPDM 60A rubber sheet is commonly used for gaskets, seals, and flaps. Sincerely, Robert Morris Rubber-Cal, Inc.

A:  It could possibly work, but this is thicker than rubber roofing. Stop by a home depot pro desk and they’ll steer you in the right direction. Hope this helps.

A:  People have used this EPDM sheet as a roofing material before. The reason behind this is that the material is durable and also very resistant to UV and ozone. EPDM is the best type of rubber to use whenever the application involves outdoor exposure.

A:  It would be excellent for this, as long as you select an adhesive that both the patch and the roof surface you are bonding to are compatible with. EPDM is also available in a liquid form specifically for roofing applications.

Q:Does this go down with an adhesive?

        Answer This Question

        A:  yes it is

        by|Mar 4, 2020

A:  Assuming you are bonding one section to another, the specific use dictates exactly what adhesive and application technique will work best. Always research this, as EPDM Rubber has specific likes and dislikes in what you attempt to bond it with.

        by|Feb 26, 2020

A:  EPDM Rubber Sheet does not bond with all adhesives, so you may want to get some professional advice on what product will bond with it as well as the base material you are dealing with. It is a tough, leak-proof and long lasting material when installed properly.

        by|Feb 26, 2020

A:  It seems as though this product could go down with an adhesive, but I would be sure to check any adhesives closely due to this product being rubber.

        by|Mar 2, 2020

A:  Typically you need to use a polyurethane based glue when applying it to a wood or concrete surface.

I have a side door in my garage that I access my trash can and side gate. When it snows or rains, the concrete gets very slippery. I cut a piece of this rubber sheet and what a difference. No more slipping. I’m going to use the rest at other entry points and in front of my work bench. It comes in a large roll and was easy to roll out and cut. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to protect their floor in a shop or garage. It also helps in covering slick surfaces.

We ordered this product to use on our deck to protect it from our various barbecue units. It is heavy even though it is quite thin, because it is a very dense rubber-like material. It rolls out very flat and is easy to work with. It seems perfectly impervious to rain and any grease that drips out of the barbecues onto its surface. We are very happy with the product and can enthusiastically recommend it.

EPDM 1/8 in. x 36 in. x 192 in. Commercial Grade 60A Rubber Sheet by Cal Rubber is a very high quality product that is useful not only in commercial and manufacturing applications but is very applicable in residential uses. We constructed a large deck on the front of our house this year and had a large flower box made to separate the main deck from a ramp. Our concern about having the deck damaged with constant water runoff from the flower box was alleviated with the application of this product. We also have stored a large section of the rubber in the garage and roll it out when we are working on our vehicles. We are very pleased with the ability to protect the surfaces while being able to store it easily when not needed. We highly recommend this product for many applications

Great for benchtop protection – an unusual use for a material designed for rooftops. Our garage bench does double-duty for handy-man-type tasks and for home brewing. In one case it has tools and materials on it, in the other metal and glass containers of liquids. This resulted in the original MDF (particle board) benchtop being damaged by both tools and stained by spills. The solution: add a solid EPDM sheet for the surface. Interestingly this posed a challenge to attach, as it is resistant to many chemicals, so picking the right adhesive was critical. In researching this I found that, while cyanoacrylics can be used, for large surfaces the best solution is water-based acrylic adhesive made for roofing. I used Alpha Systems 8010 that comes in gallon containers. For instructions on how to apply it there are multiple YouTube videos available. I used a 9” adhesive roller (1/4” nap) to roll on the glue. Since the benchtop was porous, I only applied a coat to it and immediately pressed the EPDM sheet onto it (if it were non-porous you are supposed to coat both surfaces, leave them about 20-30 minutes to tack, then press together.) I applied the glue and then the EPDM sheet in successive sections of about 30” to ensure that the glue was still wet, rather than coat the entire length & then apply the EPDM sheet. This also made it easier to handle and position the sheet exactly. There were a couple of options on what to do with the edges. While I liked the idea of using stainless steel trim that could be nailed or screwed on and overlap the top surface, this turned out to be fairly expensive for the roughly 14 ft involved. So, I pulled the sheet over the edge of the counter and stapled it underneath the bench edge with ½” stainless T-50 staples. Simple solution and it results in a smooth benchtop edge – see photos. Overall I am happy with the results and will see how it holds up to use over the long term. The EPDM material does have an unusual surface pattern (see photo), presumably from its manufacturing process. Cleaning with isopropyl alcohol didn’t remove it, but it isn’t a problem for us.

The Rubber-Cal EPDM 1/8 in. x 36 in. x 192 in. Commercial Grade 60A Rubber Sheet - Black came in very handy here. I cut it into three strips one foot wide each and used it to run the perimeter around the edges of our solar heater for the in-ground swimming pool. With it being black, it absorbs the heat from the sun and protects the outer edges of the platform for the solar heating panel. So far it is working very well for my purpose. I think that it is an excellent product which can be applied for many different uses.

Used this for my garage into the house area where the mudroom is. It helps keep the area clean, especially now that spring is coming we have a lot of rain and muddy areas in the front yard. The rugs I had there before were difficult to clean. This is easy to cut to size if it's too long. I made two mats from this one roll. Very easy to wash with soap and water . I just mop it in place.

Absolutely, positively, a Home Run out of the park! There is nothing I have ever found which protects carpeting from construction debris. Plastic which adheres to the carpet is ok, however it is challenging to lay and it's one use and done. The plastic also tends to pull up at the end of the roll. This rubber is strong, lays exceptionally flat, can be rolled out in 15 seconds and you are ready to go. You can walk comfortably and safely on it. You can mop it spotless to clean it and move onto to your next project. Thank you very much for an awesome solution, which has limitless applications!!!

This appears to be high quality EPDM. We used it by placing pads under some hydraulic scrap shears to soften the impact at the base when the metal snaps. It is doing a great job at that. No more moving the machines over 10 inches and drilling new holes. Now that we have it in hand, we’re all fighting over it for tool box drawer liners and tool box top protectors. Very versatile product. Great price too!

This rubber sheet is great! Durable and pretty thick at 1/8". Roll comes with plastic so the rubber doesn't stick to itself (it is a bit sticky, but not really to the touch). Lay it on the shop table and it hardly moves. The rubber smells (like rubber) and it's very flexible yet durable. I think this rubber sheet roll is a great choice for SO many projects I have going on, including cutting out gaskets etc.. Good stuff.

Rubber-Cal EPDM 1/8 in. x 36 in. x 192 in. Commercial Grade 60A Rubber Sheet - Black This liner is used for low slope or flat roofs all tough I am going to use this to line my pond for my ducks. I believe it is the same product that previous company used to build my last pond little further away from my house, and that one is still going without any leaks or problems for five years and our soil is really sandy here so if there is leak it will be gone in a day. We get a full four seasons with harsh winters here in Minnesota, so I am anticipating no problems with EPDM rubber at this time. It is a very tough and thick rubber. This EPMD is also soft to step on it to, so I’m also thinking to use leftover material as a floor mat in front of my work bench as a nonslip work area it is going to be good for my feet as a shock absorb-er as it is bouncy.
