This type of neoprene has a durometer rating of 60, making it one of the more physically durable rubbers available. This durometer level attributes a moderate amount of flexibility and durability to the material itself. It is a moderately pliable and elastic rubber, but it can function well in physically demanding applications. Rubber-Cal offers customization for a number of neoprene material specifications. These include customization for widths, gauges, and cuts. Although the most popular gauges are typically available, gauges that are up to 2 thick can be made upon request. How stiff is it? Specifically is it a hard 1/2 inch or a soft 1/2 inch that compresses to 1/4 inch. I am looking for gasket type rubber that is a hard 1/4 or will compress to a head 1/4...will this product do it or do you have another ?
Hello, This material is a solid rubber with about the same hardness as a car tire, so you will not get 50% compression out of it; however, a closed cell sponge would offer that amount of compression. Sincerely, Robert Morris Rubber-Cal, Inc.

This EPDM material has a 60 Amp durometer, meaning that it is fairly hard, but still retains reasonable flex and pliability. The key feature of EPDM rubber is its outstanding range of resistance. While other rubber materials fail under prolonged exposure to elements such as UV rays, ozone, and moisture, this outdoor rubber is specially designed to handle such extreme physical conditions. Beyond its outdoor abilities, this UV-resistant rubber also stands up to several chemicals, ranging from acetone to nitrates. The chemical resistance of EPDM makes the synthetic rubber sheeting ideal for industrial locations which might be prone to the presence of such potentially corrosive substances. This resistant rubber sheet also has a wide temperature range and performs well in temperatures from -40°F to 212°F.
