Q:Regarding a question about this ladders weight Rubbermaid answered 8.73 #. Looking closely at the ladders picture it has components and dimension exactly the same as the 3 step Kobalt brand ladder which weighs 7.5#. Could Rubbermaid recheck their answer?

Step gave out from under me!
I was using this step stool ladder today, as I have many times before. I have owned this product for approximately seven years. I purchased it at Home Depot.
If you had asked me yesterday what I thought of this product, I would have given it three or maybe even a three and a half star review.
Today, the middle step gave way while I was standing on it! I fell and hurt my knee.
I did not exceed the weight limit of the step stool ladder. No obvious signs of material fatigue were observed prior to failure. The point of failure was the plastic bracket which attaches the aluminum step to the aluminum frame.
I am lucky that it wasn’t an even worse accident.
I am now in the market for a new step stool ladder. I will be paying extra attention to the construction this time.

Great until the plastic broke while standing on it
I loved this step stool until I was using it to change a light bulb and the plastic step at the top cracked and collapsed in the center. Luckily, I didn't fall, but came close to it. I have never abused the stool and have always kept it indoors. I weigh less than 190 lbs so was not overloading the stool. I would recommend getting something that is all metal construction for safety.

I bought this ladder for indoor use only in our new-build home. The house 10’ ceilings and tall cabinets. It will be incredibly useful for accessing stuff on shelves and in cabinets. I’ve had one of these for years that we have used indoors and outdoors. It is a great ladder. It is very easy to maneuver.

This is a fabulous ladder! We liked it so much that this was our second purchase. We bought this one for our travel trailer. We wish Rubbermaid made a 4 step ladder just like this one. We would buy that one also!
