Yes this trash can is sold with a lid.
it could be used for that purpose yes. but in my experience cutting grass and what i personally use is a bigger roll off can with a hinged lid because it holds way more clippings
Choose a metal can instead. Plastic is no barrier to determined squirrels.
i bought one & store my items in out bldg. lid is tough and tight as long as you connect it firmly (test for locked connection when done). Mice can get in most anywhere but climbing sides might be a challenge not to mention hanging on long enough to access the vents. rats can chew holes in a great many things but it would definitely take them some time. mint oil or garlic can be pretty good deterrents to spray around base of the cans. overall, i would say you should be fairly safe with this choice, as long as you check periodically.
I have been using the 44 gallon can to hold fire wood and the smaller can i'm using for kindling. Living in Oregon with snow and rain they are pretty much indestructable. Highly recommend this line of cans and the roller dollies.
