I was really looking forward to owning this machine. It has very good suction, it is very easy to maneuver, it glides on carpet with such an ease, it looks professional. There is only one issue, it does not clean carpet. At the same time I bought FlexClean from Rug Doctor. I noticed that FlexClean does better job cleaning the carpet. I was puzzled since I expected the opposite. I am an engineer and I started to investigate why it does not clean carpet well. The issue is the design of the rotating brush. The rotating brush does not have a chance to get deep into carpet because of the design flaw. I am attaching pictures. There is a round red plastic piece at the end of brush that prevents the rotating brush from touching well the carpet, as well as the rotating brush is higher then the suction intake in front of the machine. Also the straight line of brushes is much lower than rotating brush and prevents the rotating brush from hugging the carpet.

It is FANTASTIC! Easy to use, easy to clean, easy to store... Worth every penny! It does a great job for home use and I have gone through four others, not going to mention what brands, BUT, none were a Rug Doctor. This is the best and the last carpet cleaner I will have to buy!

This carpet cleaner is a must for anyone with a family or pets. It is easy to use and does a great job on all my carpets.
The upholstery tool is easily attached and is easy to use as well.
I praise the designer, a lot of thought went into the whole design.
I like the fact that the measuring cup is built into the cap of the clean water unit.
The only thing that could been better is a larger clean water tank but I can't really call that a negative.
I would defiantly recommend this to my friends or family.

Suction
The problem with Rug Doctor machine it does not have enough suction to adequately remove the water. It's just a cheap way to try to clean your carpets. Because your carpets are not being cleaned properly.

Disappointed in Rug Doctor
Have used this maybe three times and the fourth time I go to use it first it doesn’t suck up the water and then starts leaking everywhere. Was using it at a friends’ house, that they just purchased. They had a little one that would be crawling around and asked if I could do it. Just made for a miserable day. Ended up renting one and now need to figure out why mine is leaking and how to take it apart. Would say just rent one, but the rentals are just as bad in my experience.

Furniture tool
I rented a very clean unit from HD. Price was right and service was great. Used the machine in 3 rooms and it worked pretty well on two of the rooms. ( third room was a kids room, so many of the stains didnt come out). Not the machines fault, the carpet had never been cleaned in that room for years... So overall I am mostly pleased with the carpet cleaning part. Bigger problem was with the furniture tool. Hooked up easy enough however the instructions on the machine never said anything about having to push the red button to get the water flowing to the wand. I figured that part out. When I started using it on some couch cushions, the water flowed out way faster than it could be sucked up. The water would pool up and run to areas I didnt want wet. Another bad part is when using the wand and holding the red button down, the big brush under the machine would do its thing. Potentially ruining the carpet underneath. Still I would use this machine in the future, just not the tool.

Horrible purchase
Looks flashy but quite the opposite,open it up and you can see that a child would have designed a better machine. Stopped sucking after what seems like a few uses. Save your time, money, and frustration for some something else, id rather scrub the entire carpet then buy a rug doctor again. Worthless

Bad Product Experience
My Home Depot did not rent the Rug Doctor model pictured or the one shown in the instructional video to which I was referred by the counter person. Home Depot rented an older, more antiquated version. As a result and in comparison to the instructional video, I had to figure out how to empty the tank and could see it would take much longer than the video indicated. On top of it all, the rented unit did not work properly, and I had to return it for a full refund. And, that was after I made an additional trip back to the store to attempt to fix what they thought was the problem. Never again!!!!
