Completely waste of time & money
I wanted to remove the old epoxy from my garage. I tried this product on my garage (less than 75 sq ft) I waited almost 4 hours nothing happened, I kept scratching with a scrapper and heavy steel brush but couldn't even remove 1 sqft paint. Luckily I wanted to check with one gallon can first before I buy an additional 4 gallons.

That doesn't sound right, Muthu. Keep in mind that the Rust-Oleum Paint Stripper for Concrete needs to be kept thick and wet on the surface until the coating is visually wrinkled, which could take anywhere from 30 minutes to 5 hours. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5 Rustoleum

      Frustrated by this product!
I have an expansive patio project that I intended to use this product on. I had a couple of choices of product to be used, but went with Rustoleum due to the brand. I am removing old sealer so I can restain the old concrete. I followed instructions to the T and actually went heaver than the recommended 75 sq. ft per gallon. The conditions were ideal. Temp in the mid 60's, no rain. I let the product sit the maximum number of recommended hours and made sure it did not dry on the surface. I purchased and used a heavy duty scrub brush to try to get everything up. When I woke up this morning, you can see the results of a days worth of labor and $200.00 spent on this product. What you see is only about 1/3 of the total project as I am doing this in phases due to the size of it. Now I am not sure what to do as there is no way I can stain over this yet. There is still way too much residue. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

        Do Not Waste Your Money
Bought 2 gallons to treat 200 sq ft. Even though 1 gallon only covers 75 sq ft, I thought I'd test it before I spend a fortune. This product did not work. My pictures clearly show no change and that's after scrubbing the floor with a wire brush, scraping with a scraper, all after allowing this stripper to eat through the paint for over an hour, and then pressure washing 3 times just to remove this smelly crud from my garage. It's been a week now airing out my garage and it still reeks of this smell. Rent a concrete grinder, I know they are expensive, but it's still half the price to rent one over using this product and it doing absolutely nothing.

That is not what we like to hear, Zach! Our Rust-Oleum Paint Stripper for Concrete is designed to work on the coating over time, and may take as long as 5 hours on more durable coatings such as 2-part epoxy. We need to know more to get to the bottom of this. Please give us a call at 888-683-5667, we want to try to make things right! - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2 Rustoleum

Don't waste your money, this product is absolute garbage. It was recommended by a Home Depot employee to remove some latex paint over spray on my garage floor. I used it as directed and when I wiped it off, it left a permanent stain from where the cleaner was used. I have yet to find anything that will remove the residue. I ended up using Goof Off Pro to remove the rest of the over spray, Goof Off still won't remove the stain left by the Rust-Oleum stripper. I will be getting a refund for this.

This is not what we like to hear Johnny! Rust-Oleum Paint Stripped For Concrete removes layers of paints, stains and film forming sealers. This penetrating stripper loosens layers of paint for easy removal with a scraper. As indicated on the bottle, test in a small area prior to use to ensure favorable results. We would like to hear more about your experience and try to make things right, give us a call at 800-481-4785.

This product did a great job removing a paint spill on concrete. I followed the Bob Vila method that I googled. If you follow the directions you will have amazing results. Let it sit 6 hours then power wash off! Easy!

I purchased a Rustoleum epoxy product to cover my garage floor several years ago. It failed fairly quickly and began to chip and peel. In attempting to address the issue, I purchased this product at Home Depot. It made matters way, way worse. I applied the product to a third of the floor for nearly the entire day and the results were terrible (see image). The epoxy was re-activated and the product got up nearly none of it. After several hours of work and multiple coats I have successfully stripped off zero square feet of epoxy. Now my floor is like glue paper. You really can’t walk across it without risking stepping out of your shoes, and it’s been three-and-a-half days. I believe the combination of these two Rustoleum products has destroyed my garage floor and at least temporarily left the space unusable. I’m concerned my daughter could wander in there and then walk back into the house, doing thousands of dollar of damage in the process. I called Rustoleum and they told me they could only give me a refund. I think they should pay to have the product professionally cleared from my garage floor because I think it’s a mess that simple cleaners will not be able to address. During my conversation with the customer service representative, the person actually said (and I’m paraphrasing here) that Rustoleum accepts no liability associated with damage to your home caused by the use of one of their products. While I’m no lawyer, I know that liability doesn’t work that way. I’m sure Monsanto claimed no liability about the health effects of Roundup but that didn’t stop a jury from awarding $2 billion to a couple in California who claim to have cancer due to repeated use of the product. I then reached out to Home Depot. They are starting an insurance claim, so we’ll see how it goes. My recommendation is to definitely not buy this horrible product (read the many other terrible reviews). I will never, ever purchase another Rustoleum product.

We understand your frustration, Patrick. From the photo shown here, and the others provided to us previously, it appears that the stripper had begun lifting and removing the coating from the surface. Once the stripper dries, another application of stripper will need to be applied to ensure complete removal. It is important to keep in mind that each gallon of our Rust-Oleum Paint Stripper for Concrete is recommended for only a 75 ft² area. Stripping a garage floor can be a big project, and often messy, however, it looks like you are halfway there. Please give our Support Team a call at 888-683-5667, we will be happy to help! - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2 Rustoleum

Do not buy this product! If I could give it negative stars I would, it does not work as stated. I applied exactly per the directions and waited for the product to work, alas it did not. I had the added frustration that I could not remove the product either, it pills up into a gooey mess and is EXTREMELY slippery, so much so that I fell immediately when trying to step onto my porch. I was unable to use my porch, or leave my house since it is the only egress to the street, so I couldn't even get back to Home Depot to find an alternative without crossing the slippery porch. In desperation I hosed off the porch and while the product did come off, none of the paint did. I am going to rent a concrete grinder/sander which I should have done to begin with. Do not waste your time or money on this ineffective and frustrating product. I wish I had read the other reviews before trying this.

Thank you for sharing your experience with Rust-Oleum Paint Stripper for Concrete! Please keep in mind that this product needs to sit on the surface for 30 minutes to 5 hours depending on the coating type. Additional product does need to be reapplied to the surface to ensure that it remains wet on the surface. Once the coating is visually wrinkled, it is ready to be removed. A scraper or stiff bristle broom also needs to be used to aid in removal. We do wanted to hear more about your experience and try to make things right with you. Feel free to give us a call at 866-765-4474 to talk with us!

About 8 square feet of our back patio is now clean again due to this gallon of Paint Stripper. Our concrete had lots of splattered white exterior paint from our backyard project. We simply poured the solution over the most paint-splattered areas and let it sit for awhile. The strong smell of turpentine was totally expected and that did not bother me at all, as it was temporary. Then we scrubbed and washed down with a hose. 99% of the spots were gone and we may buy another gallon for the rest of the patio.
