    Answer This Question

A:  Happy to help, Kaylee. Rust-Oleum Home Floor Coating System meets requirements for slip resistance. If additional slip resistance is desired, our Rust-Oleum Anti-Skid Additive may be added to the base coat before application. Follow instructions on the packaging before use. This will not change the look of the Home Matte Clear Top Coat that is applied over the Base Coat. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 6

Q:What are the differences between the 8 oz version and the 3.4 oz version of this anti-skid? Both of them are for one gallon of paint according to the instruction. Are they equivalent/interchangeable? I only have the 3.4 oz version at my local store.

      Answer This Question

A:  Happy to help, Chris. Rust-Oleum Anti-Skid Additive is available in two sizes, both contain the same aluminum oxide based anti-skid additive. For those who prefer a more slip resistant surface, more Anti-Skid can be added to the paint. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 6

A:  Thank you for reaching out! Our Rust-Oleum Anti-Skid Additive may be mixed in with any floor-grade, latex or oil-based deck paint, stain, or sealer for application to a wooden deck. Mix the additive in with the coating thoroughly prior to, and periodically during the application to ensure an even and consistent mix as it is applied. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

I am very happy with how my 2.5 car garage turned out with this kit. All the reviews about the importance of prep had me prepared. I spent majority of my time and effort on prep. Rolling on the actual epoxy was a breeze. I bought the clear epoxyshield kit from Rustoleum as a top coat, waited 72 hours after first application to apply and I used the anti-skid provided in the clear kit. I live in Texas, it is HOT and humid so I did as suggested in the instructions for applications in temperatures above 90 and added 10% acetone to the mixtures. 3 weeks later, it looks great, no signs of peeling, flaking, lifting or any other issues. I still have not driven on it because it is so hot here, I don't want to chance ruining it with hot tires. I plan to give it another few weeks just to be safe.

Our patio was extended because we were adding a hot tub. We already wanted to paint the concrete so the old and new concrete would match. We knew a painted surface could become slippery when wet. We added this product to the 2nd coat of paint. Just opened the pack, poured it in the paint can and mixed. Then applied paint as normal. Visually, you would never know we added this but you can feel the grip when walking around.

Follow the directions, small patches at a time. Decide how concentrated you want the flakes. Seems to stick well. Suggested to coat with clear coat sealer. Have not yet.

Worked fine when added to the Rust-o-lieum epoxy floor covering. Only issue was keeping it mixed while applying - it tended to settle to the bottom. But once applied it help reduced slipperiness. I used 1 bag for about 200 sf - this wasnt a garage - but a glass studio

This is great for mixing in paint. I painted my mom's garage floor, to help prevent slipping, when the floor get wet. Now! I feel better that the garage floor has better grip to help prevent a fall at her age.

I needed this for no skid surface on a feeder riser (small area). Found that I had to sprinkle it on the clear I painted while it was wet to get the desired surface. I mixed it in with the clear and it sank to the bottom. No good. Nice clingy surface now and it doesn't cover the design if you have one. Great stuff!
